The church of St. Luke, erected on the site of an older building , which was destroyed in 1873, was consecrated in August, 1879.
It took them 6 years to build the stone church which is of the early decorated style.
It consists of a Chancel, Nave, Aisles, Porch, Organ Chamber and a Bell tower which used to contain a bell. I haven't checked to see if it's still there. I'll upload an internal map later.
The Stained glass window was presented in memory of a Mr. George Marsters by his widow.
The only record of a priest I can find is Rev. Daniel Owen Davies, of St. David's College, Lampeter, who resided at Freeholdland.

There are lots of stories about why the place closed down. All of them false. It was mainly due to the Church in Wales not being able to afford a 400 seat church for a town with less than 400 inhabitants. If I need to I can ask the head of the Church in Wales, the Arch Bishop of Canterbury, to confirm this. Friend of the Family.

There have been sightings of an old bearded man in the church by local kids who tried to go there to smoke pot and drink underage. All of these under the now half smashed window dedicated to George Marsters interestingly enough. And there are stories of a dark cackling shadow that seems to stay near the side porch door and the font. The other end of the church. This one worries me for some reason.

All the interior of the church is destroyed. The organ is shattered and there are holes in the wooden parts on the floor. The tiled main floor is cracked and covered in masonry from the cieling. The Pews are all gone and most of the windows are broken in. I got the shivers in a lot of places around the church and the one side room I couldn't enter because of overwhelming fear. And I jump off cliffs and go white water rafting to relax for gods sake.

Anything else?

I'm also gonna set up a website for my team and start hiring myself out to private property owners. If just to pay for some of the new gear I've been meaning to buy. We need a name though...what do you guys think?

That sounds like it would be really awesome to investigate, Muse. I am sure you could find a whole lot of energy and other phenomenom there. How neat. I can't wait to hear what you come up with! =)

As far as names for a research team....I'll have to think about that for a while. But if I think of anything that might interest you, I'll let ya know.

Thanks. =) And I'm trying to keep calm about it. I don't want to rush ahead and get poor shots of fuzzy dust orbs. I do have high hopes for the site though. It's got potential. After this I might just pay the extortionate prices for a Ghost Tour of Llancaiach Fawr and ignore the guide and just run experiments all night. =)

James, I can understand why your so excited, this Church definitely does seem to have some potential. You'll have to let us know how you do with the investigation.

As far as a name...hmmm I'll have to think about that one for a bit. If I come up with anything I'll post it for you! =)

That sounds like a great place! I think you should go ahead and ask the Archbishop about the place - you might find out even more. [Wink] That dark, crackling shadow sounds interesting... and spooky. [Nerdily Unsure]

As for a name.... there's always the simple one: South Wales Paranormal Investigators (or Investigations)
I don't think that name is taken already, but you should check to be sure.

Oh, you may also want to keep in mind that most paranormal investigation groups don't charge for their services (unless it's to pay for expenses to get there, if it's long distance). Just something you might want to consider before charging folks. [Wink]

Oh it will only be for expenses and totally in the form of donations. But theres a lot of equiptment I'd like to buy and doing some private houses might help pay for that. Even though the chances of seeing anything in these houses is far lower than sites I'd choose to investigate like the church...
