A year ago a fellow Marshall student went missing. Her car was found a few hours later, burning in a remote area. She has never been found. A suspect in the crime said the body was dumped in the river but several searches and dive operations have revealed nothing.

Since getting into this ghost hunting stuff lateley I have a new idea or two about searching for the missing body, and was wondering what you guys think.

Since ghosts often haunt an area where they were seperated from their living being or where the body has been dropped, I think that maybe a ghost hunt might turn up something. I know some of the areas that have been searched and a couple of places where the body may have been dropped, so should I check these places out?

Now, I'm no Ghost Buster or anything (actually I'm new to many of the concepts here) but I, like many in our area, would just like to see an end to all this and see that the family gets some closure. Think this might work?

KDogg, it's sweet of you to want to help. I have no idea if you would find out anything or not. Just promise if you do go, you will not go alone and you should also consult somebody who knows more about ghost hunting, better yet, take them with you!! You should also get permisson before going on private property. Let us know what you decide but please be careful!

Hey KDogg, you're right across the river from me. It is so sad about Samantha, I wish they would find her so her family can finally have some closure in all this. As for the ghost hunting I'm with Cindy. I'm not sure if anything would turn up but it can't hurt. Just don't go alone and make sure you have all your i's dotted and t's crossed when it comes to permission to be on private property. Another thought, make sure the police are through with the areas before you go. I'm pretty sure they would be,but it never hurts to check.

I also agree with all of the above. Checking with the police is a really good idea. Seeing as they could still be monitoring the site, it's only been a year. What if they assumed you a suspect and returning to the scene?
Please take others with you, for help and support.
Are you sensitive?
Getting bad vibes about this here. Be careful.

Thanks for your input on this. I hadn't thought about the police possibly monitoring certain areas (of course, around here we don't think of the police monitoring much more than the local donut shops...) But anyway, I think I will check on that one.

As for trespassing, the areas I would be looking at are on the riverbanks and I don't think there are any private property areas around this particular part. But if I come upon some I will be sure to get permission before doing anything.

And about taking someone with me, the first problem is that I know no one interested in even looking, much less having anything to do with ghosts. And second, I know nobody into this sort of thing from the paranormal perspective.

Getting busted by the cops and being tagged a suspect in the matter would suck, but I believe they already have their primary suspects. But if I did find something, it would be interesting to see their faces when they ask how I found it and I tell them "I followed an orb"...

If your really serious about this, you could try posting on other ghost message boards and see if you can find some ghost hunters in your area who would be willing to go with you. I've known people to do that before....just a suggestion =) Good luck with whatever you decide!

I don't know anything about the case you have discussed...what I do know is that whoever was involved(assuming someone was involved with this tragedy) probably wants it to stay a mystery. You may put yourself in grave danger by poking into a situation that does not involve you.Sorry, speaking strictly from concern here. Please be carefull! My husband was working on a construction crew along the railroad tracks here in the southside of town. They found a body.

The guy supposedly shot himself in the forehead with a nailgun.

They found the nailgun about three feet from the body.

If you wanted to die ,do you think with all the other methods out there you would pick a nailgun to the head...even if it was available?

We looked and looked for something in the paper or evening news and all we found was a tiny writeup.

It said...Victim shot in head by nailgun....Victim?!?!

I thought it was a suicide...that was all we ever found. [Shocked] -Disturbing to say the least.I guess there was no family to get involved. The fact is we really don't know.

With some of the things that go on in this town,I believe we might get hurt trying to find out,so we resolved to just let it go...I'm not saying I don't feel for you,or that it should be left like that...it's just, would another dead person or 2 help this poor souls cause?

Hey, thanks. I appreciate the concern and you do raise some legitimate points. I mean, the killer(s) did not want any evidence found and so far they have done a good job hiding it. The girl's car was burned completely out, as in anything not metal was gone.

However, the primary suspects are in jail on other charges, one of which involves a missing woman from South Carolina. They were captured in her car, which they had used in the commission of other crimes. As in this case, the body of that woman has also not been found.

One of the suspects gave information relating to this case, claiming that the body was thrown off a bridge into the river below. The area was searched (and was later searched again on another tip) but nothing has been found. Forensic testing of soil in the area has also been done but information regarding that has not been released.

As for me, I'm not really concerned with my safety as far as being attacked. I mean, I can't fend off everything but with the primary suspects behind bars and the entire community still wanting answers and the family wanting closure, I think all that outweighs the risk involved. Truthfully, I think the only problem I might have would be the curiosity of passers-by and maybe a chat with an officer, given he puts down his donut long enough to see who's on the riverbank.

Finally, I also believe that somebody has to take a risk in most any situation to find the elusive answers. I'm quite sure the suspects have friends on the outside (one of their cousins lives in the area the girl was last seen alive) but with the community and police watching them I doubt there will be any problems. And if we all just sit on our hands because something bad might happen if we go prodding around, answers would never be found and criminals never brought to justice. If something like this ever happened to me or my family I would want somebody searching for answers - we all know the cops can't (and usually don't) do it all.

Again, thanks for the concern. It is appreciated, and I will take the necessary precautions...
