I was reading some material on the case of Ed Gein. While Ed Gein was tied to only two murders a search of his farm house revealed body parts from several victims; some of these were probably from corpses he dug up from the cemetary, but what I'm wondering is if he murdered more then two people which he must have done were there not a lot of missing persons reports that authorities tried to connect to the case? The material that I've read so far does not mention this.

Eddie's a grisly one, isn't he? [Nerdily Unsure]

Indeed there were other missing people that the police suspected Gein may have had something to do with, but as you said, they were only able to hold him responsible for two; Bernice Worden and Mary Hogan.

This tells of the missing and suspected other victims:

They did find another body at his farm and suspected it was one of the missing men, but found it was only another graveyard souvenir. One of many he took.

In regards to Eddie

In my opinion, this is a sad but perfect example of how a parent can definitely ruin their child by way of upbringing.

He was definitely a sick individual as an adult but I feel sorry for him as a child. Brainwashed!

Who knows what Eddie really could have been had he been brought up differently. [Sigh]

Ok,I feel momentarily bad when I squash a bug,(except spiders!)but for some reason I'm just fascinated by serial killers!
I found this site when I was looking up Albert Fish, because he was featured in Stephen Kings' Black House.(continuation to the Talisman)

Actually I just went in and looked at the site Kell Kell gave you the link for & its info IS more extensive(good job Kell!)there may be others on this sites list, however if anyone else shares the same fascination.-EWWW!Bad Hallow-LOL!

They have quite the encyclopedia of serial killers in there including Mr. Gein, just in case anyone's interested.-Booooga Boooga Boooga! [Eek Smile]

PS-I understand that parents can contribute to a persons sickness,or simply ignore it & let it fester, but in a way you are letting the adult Ed off the hook.(copout)
As an adult you have choices & I don't think we know enough about the human psyche to know if some are just plain born with evil tendencies.

You're welcome, Ghostdancer and thank you, Hallow. =) I've seen that movie too - eep!

What we might percieve as 'evil' in Ed Gein's case (or any other, as far as that goes) may really just boil down to mental illness. I don't claim to know what makes these guys tick - or how, precisely, they came to be what they are/were, but the mind is a vast frontier and we don't even know the beginning.

Which reminds me - and not to get off topic - but John Wayne Gacy's family asked that his brain be examined (post-mortem) to see if any 'differences' could be detected. Nada. Looked like any other healthy brain.
