Ok, truth is I've been on & off this board alll day. My Grandfather died last night I found out this morning & I think to me writing...anything is cathartic.
I'm not looking for sympathy or to discuss THAT, he had ALZ. so we saw it coming.... sooo I don't know about Japanese movies, although my husband's a major kung fu movie fan.

One thing I do love is horror so here a list of favs- in no particular order...

The Thing (oh my god!) the special effects were amazing for the year it came out. (warning I'm a B movie lover 2!) which brings me to the Kindred, the Gate,...lets see...the Keep, American Werewolf in London (saw when I was seven!) American Werewolf in Paris, Pumkinhead-instant classic! From Hell was excellent! Identity(superb acting really original plot! Demon Knight, Resident Evil, all the Living Deads, Fright Night, Vamp, Bodysnatchers, Evil Dead & Army of Darkness, From Dusk till Dawn, Near Dark, the Exorcist (new version), Silence of the Lambs, Red Dragon, House 1&2, the Frighteners, the People Under the Stairs, This House Possess, if you haven't seen JasonX it really is good & funny, of course loved the Hellraiser series, & all the Nightmare on Elm streets, They (Wes Craven also) excellent! which brings me to They Live (classified Sci-Fi I think) fantastic alley fight scene in that! Heathers, the Serpent & the Rainbow, the Believers, Twilight Zone the movie, all the Creepshows, Donnie Darko (not sure its horror), Grim Praire Tales, Tales from the Darkside, also Sci-Fi (thin line) loved Chud (1st one) & Soylent Green, & Pitch Black... Cats Eye, Cat People, of course the Shining, Salem's Lot, & Pet Cemetary, Sleepy Hollow, Jeepers Creepers, the Ring (already mentioned), Thirteen Ghosts, the Lost Boys (grampa was fav. character-lol), Phantasm -all, the Mangler, the Boogins, Basketcase, the Deep, the Fog, Thinner, Something Wicked This Way Comes, the Poltergiest movies, Wolfen, can't wait to see Underworld! & 28 Days, the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre, saw House of 1000 corpses (was ok, kinda dumb I thought, clown character was hilarious!) Freddie vs Jason, & Jeepers Creepers 2,... the Howling series, Silver Bullet (uncle red was the s**t!), of course I hated Tom Cruise being in Interview w/ the Vampire, but it was worth watching & I can't remember how true to the book Queen of the D@mned was, (Lestat did have blond hair) but I enjoyed the movie immensly, Blade 1&2, Puppetmaster, the 1st Wishmaster, loved the Warlock movies...

oh there are soooo many... I love horror, can anyone add more? Wait! the Craft, What was that movie w/ the freaky tooth fairy? Dracula (new one)... ok I grew up watching Creature Double feature & Elvira flicks... Abbot & Costello & Vincent Price & lets not forget Christopher Lee & Bela Lugosi... Spliced, stunk in case anyone wants my opinion, oh-Trick or Treat, & Shocker, were really good too!... You guys can take it from there!

wow do you have a lot of them mentioned. i had to read it twice. the only other on that i can think of was "the others" and "sixth sense". although sixth sense wasn't really a horror flick per se. anyhow, i have noticed that they really aren't playing up halloween the way they used to when i was a kid [Sigh] . seemed like there was a movie everynight for at least three weeks before halloween. but alas, there is now the internet and message boards like this one =)

I'm probably the biggest sissy on the board but I do love horror movies. The Exorcist would definately be at the top of my list for scariest movie I've ever seen! Did you see the new version where she (linda blair) comes crawling down the stairs backwards [Eek Smile]

I also loved The Cell with Jennifer Lopez, very disturbing!! Silence of the lambs, The Howling, The Ring, Sixth Sense, and dont laugh but there's an older horror movie called Pumpkin Head that scared me too death!!

I loved most all Stephen King's books but the movies aren't half as good usually. I did really like Misery and It.

It-the book was SO much better than the movie, that spider was laughable.Of course I watched it anyway.(chuckle)
Yes,I saw the new version of the Exorcist,I love that staircase scene!-LOL!Pumkinhead is one of my all time favs.-Thanx! [Shocked]

Nope never saw the Cube.

And as far as ANY spider ever being laughable, can't see that....they scare me to death no matter how fake they look!

Oh and I forgot another one that gave me nightmares for weeks, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Geez that nasty leatherface and the sound of that chainsaw haunted me forever. Did you see they have done a remake of it too? Not sure if I'll go see it but might get the nerve.

Essential suggestions there Kathleen, nice one. Session 9 is one of my all-time favorites (I did a ton of research into Danvers Asylum after watching it) and the way the ghost is portrayed in Devils Backbone is one of the most original and amazing things Ive ever seen. Plus scary as all get-out. Will have to check out Below now!

Wow, Session 9. I didn't think anyone else has ever seen that movie. Totally creepy! Anyone who has not seen it should consider it...it's really scary. I am planning on seeing Texas Chainsaw Massacre tonight. We'll see if that doesn't fall through. Anyway. I haven't seen any reall good scary movies lately. We watched Dreamcather the other night but it turned out to be more wierd than scary. [Confused]

I saw Dream Catcher tonight,it WAS kinda wierd.I did like it though, when the animals were fleeing altogether in that procession like that, just the visual gave me the creeps...Imagine seeing that & realizing the implications...(nape hair prickling)
Saw 28 days later, enjoyed it quite a bit.Haven't caught Jeepers Creepers 2 yet or Cold Creek Canyon,or Cabin Fever,Freddy vs Jason...got to get caught up!I HAVE to see the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre...it's my duty to the genre.LOL! [Shocked]

Hehehe, I just saw Dreamcatcher and 28 Days Later last night.
I totally agree with you about that scene with the animals all leaving together. If I saw that in the woods I would be freaked out. Only something very bad would make animals move like that. I thought it was a pretty good creepy movie. Essential Steven King.

I really enjoyed 28 Days Later (partially because of all the visions I've had). It really enjoyed that one too.

Ooohhh! Session 9. I'll have to try and find that one.

Well,I didn't have any luck finding Session9 at my local video store.I may try the other one nearby on another night.-Heard it was kinda Blair Witch?I didn't care for that movie much, however Danvers Asylum is a point of fascination for me.

Just saw Wrong Turn...All I can say is w/Psycho Inbred Rednecks running around in nowhere Appalachia killin folks for fun...How can you go wrong? But that was definetly a Wrong Turn! [Wink]
