Has anybody ever heard of a Cemetery Walk? My local historical society had one yesterday. It is where a group of reenacters pretend to be a person who's buried there in order to teach people about their lives and the time they lived in. You walk through the cemetery to the places these people are stationed. They are put by the marker of the person they are meant to represent. It was the wildest thing I'd ever seen. Not only were there more spirits there than I'd ever seen (they must have known about the walk), but some of the people being represented were also visiting. I think I saw every incarnation of U.S. military uniform from 1812 through 1940.
I'd be standing there 'talking' with someone while the reenacter would be giving his talk about the person I was talking to. Most of these people had very hard lives. My favorite was Katherine Price. She helped bring the Dewey Decimal System to the libraries in my area. I'd met her first in the main historical building before the tour. We were watching a slideshow on the symbolism of the artwork on the grave stones. She was not happy about all the people who'd "come to gawk as if we were a carnival attraction." She didn't understand we were there out of a genuine interest in history (at least I was). I then saw her when I was walking over to where her reenacter was standing. She didn't like the woman who was portraying her. This woman was a little nervous to be in front of a group and had been on her feet for a while so she was figgeting a little. "Only young girls and piglets should wiggle so much." She was a brilliant woman but tak about a stern taskmaster! She really did crack me up. [Big Grin]

Hi Snoop!
I was looking to see what they had going on the next weekend for tours, etc in Ohio. And they have a couple cemetrey tours.
LOL I can imagine, somebody playing the part of the person, and the person who passed still there fuming about being portrayed at all? Oh my! For a sensitive that would have had to have been one tough situation. How did you handle it? LOL Sorry but it does sound like a situation you will not likely soon forget!
Hey, and watch it with those piglet terms, I am Thee Piglet! And I do not wiggle LOL! (joke)
Wish I could have been there. Talk about a Kodak moment?

Wow, Snoopy - what an experience! I don't know if all cemetery walks/tours do it like that or not? Quite possible. In case anyone would like a listing, here it is[/URL].

It doesn't surprise me the spirits would show up and be interested in what's going on though - and I think I, too, would be choosy about who was portraying me! [Laughing]
