Hey all, I need a little help in finding a particular haunt. I just can't remember the name of it. I saw it featured on one of the haunted shows and was intrigued. I'd like to mention it on the upcoming radio show, if I can figure it out!

As I remember, it's a monk's cemetery (on the grounds of and old monestary) somewhere in England or Scotland (in the UK for sure). Some of the people who were on a tour were attacked by unseen forces (different times, I beleive). One lady was inside one of the above ground structures (looked like an open-door crypt??) and was violently slapped in the face. Another guy was chased or attacked somehow from behind. There was also mention that the monks may have practiced a 'dark' something or other.

I'm thinking the name is Greenfriar or Greenbriar - something! Ring any bells? Thanks in advance for any help! =)

Oh my. I've been trying to find this place all day and am finding tons of places in the UK that are haunted by monks. Friaries, Abbeys, Churches, Cathedrals, etc. etc.

The key with this one is that visitors have been attacked in some way or another out by the cemetery (one slapped for sure). And I think this is a Friary and that some of the monks may have been murdered. Im thinking it was featured on that elusive show 'Real Ghosts'.

I know I'm talking to myself... but I'll still take any help, if anyone has an idea of the name. [Nutty] (Thanks for your help, Connie! =) )

Gee Kell, you picked a tough one. I was on the seach engines for two hours and you were on all day and I know I didn't come close to what you were looking for.

I know if anyone is monitoring my searches, the next think I know my Yahoo addy will be filled with "Like to slap Monks? Go to this site..." [Laughing]

Please let me know if you had any luck and if it ever comes back on a rerun, please post it.

Kell, I know exactly the one you are talking about, but the name escapes me! I know for sure it was in Scotland. The show on it was really good. I want to say it was shown on the History Channel.

Is this the place?

Scotland - Edinburgh - Greyfriar's Churchyard Cemetery - Originally, a dog named Greyfriar's Bobby stood faithfully on the grave of his master. Starting in late 1998, after the accidental disturbing of a grave site in the cemetery, a number of paranormal activities have been witnessed, since, by well over a hundred people. The area now known as the Black Mausoleum has been the site of intense poltergeist activity, such as cold spots; a sweet, nauseating smell; unseen watchers; and people being grabbed, knocked unconscious, and coming out of the mausoleum with cuts and bruises after feeling a presence touching, or stroking them. It is believed that the poltergeist is that of George Mackenzie, the persecutor of the Covenanters, who died and was entombed at the site in 1691. There is actually a tour that goes through the mausoleum during the night.(Which is probably why there are so many reported attacks.)

Here is the link to the website. Shadowlands UK[/URL] The above entry is about 3/4 of the way down the page.

Thanks, all! (Connie! [Laughing] )

Alan - that's it!! *dances* Thank you, thank you. [Wink] I knew for sure this was it when I saw the pictures.

Covenanters Prison. Okay, well, it is on the grounds of an old churchyard and I guess because these Covenanters were a faction of the Presbyterian church, I had 'monks' mixed up in there. Sorry guys, but I thank you all for helping! =)

Poor, Connie! You went about as nuts as I did. [Nutty] And to think, all we needed was Alan on the job. [Wink]

Thanks again!
