Is this the only pic she took of the cat? If she took more than one, did all of them have the streak, or just one? Can she take another pic in the same spot under the same conditions? If it isn't a reflection, it could be a camera malfunction, or she has a ghost who has good taste and loves kitties! [Big Grin]

Does she experience paranormal activity in her house? Does the cat ever notice anything?

I do have 3 or 4 other pictures that I took of my cat at the exact same spot and time as this photo was taken. She was crawling around under the blanket and at one point she had the blanket over her head like a monk. It was really cute and I was trying to catch it on film so I went snap happy on her.

None of the other pictures have this light in them or any light what so ever. And the camera is only 2 weeks old. This is why I was kind of concerned and alarmed by this. [Shocked]

To answer your questions further, my family and I have not experienced any paranormal activity that we are aware of. We have been living here about 1 year only.

Shortly after we moved here, our family cat of 18 years passed away (in January) and it was quite devastating for all of us. =( He was an orange tabby. He spent only 1 week with my cat (in picture) and then he passed away.

I don't know...... Could it be him??????

The light in the room, the one casting the shadow of your four legged brother, is that the TV?

The bright spot and the shadow of the kitty indicate that they have the same sorce (shadow angle and angle of the bright spot).

I believe that you have yourself a one in a million shot. Not worth anything other than an oddity. TV commercials and some shows put white flashes in the spots/shows to catch your eye. It only last a fraction of a second but the white flash (nothing subliminal) attracts the attention of your brain and causes you to look at the source, the TV commercial.
You can see the white flashes if you watch TV in a dark room and either don't look at the TV or just close your eyes. It doesn't happen all the time (mostly during commercials).
It's a legal way to get people to look at commercials. It can also give you headaches.

It appears, in my opinion, that you took a picture in the exact time that one of those flashes was on the TV. The odds are greater than a million to one that you would time it just right.

But then it may also be supernatural in origin.

It does almost look like whatever or whoever this streak represents is being leaned on by your kitty. Maybe it is your orange tabby having a snuggle, or a relative giving the kitty some loving scratches. I don't know. I'm not an expert, but that's what it looks like to me. =)

Interesting theory, Nakis. Hmmm.

Alan did an enlargement and gamma adjustment to the pic.

Does it look solid to you? Part of the cat's tail is blocked from view, indicating that the tail is behind this thing.

It does remind me of my two cats rubbing up against each other.

Indeed, the cat's tail is behind that light. I like how it illuminates the cat and bed, too. Very interesting. [Nerdily Unsure]

If it is something illuminated in of itself, why isn't the cat illuminated or the shadow of the cat dispersed?
Sorry, I don't see it casting light.

Nakis,
Look at the full picture, not the close up. There is light shining on the cat but according to the cat's shadow, that part of the cat should be dark.

I'm curious if that is a window in the top right of the picture - that could be a source of light that makes the cat's shadow. The TV is to the left of the cat and wouldn't be causing the shadow.

Here are some inverted views; hopefully you will be able to see the light that is cast onto the cat better, as well as the cat's shadow.

This one is simply inverted:
 -

This one is inverted and the brightness/contrast adjusted slightly:
 -

I can definitely see the unknown light source shining on the cat's fur (which shows up as dark blue in the inverted pics). I also see a faint shadow behind the cat (toward the camera and shows a light-coloered in the inverts), which tells me - even though this was taken at night with no other light sources in the room (or outside, according to Mia) except the TV, that perhaps the ambient lighting in the room - possibly from the TV, has cast this faint shadow for the cat.

Another thing to note, Nakis, is Windows OS tends to display darker on a monitor, whereas Mac OS is a bit lighter. Maybe that's why you're having trouble seeing the light on the cat? Just thought it might be a possibility. =)

Thank you all for your interest in my "STRANGE PIC" and all your opinions.

However, I am still confused [Nutty] haha

I have been looking at all the enhanced and adjusted photos that you guys have all worked on and I find it all so amazing but confusing.
It's been bugging me and I have been trying to figure it all out NON STOP. In the meantime, my kitty doesn't seem to be bothered by it in the least. She sleeps in that same spot all day and all night. Whatever it is, can't be that bad I guess. [Sigh]

Anyhow, thank you all again and I will keep you posted if I find anything else unusual.
