Elizabeth Bathory known to history as the blood countess is said to have bathed in the blood of her victims, but I was reading a web page where the author states his belief that this may not be true since the record of her trial does not make any mention of her using blood for any purpose.

If I find the site I'll post the link.

I believe there is a page about her on crime library. I'll have to go look there and see what they have to say. I do recall the blood bath thing though.

well, it just so happens that i took a class last semester "history of homicide". actually, elizabeth bathory did bathe in the blood of young virgins with the belief that it would keep her young...gee how's that for the "fountain of youth"? ick...anyway, she wasn't put to death for her crimes, her sentace was to be banished to the confines of her castle for the rest of her days.....at least that is the course material. so there you have it, hope it helps! [Nope!]

"there's the link, and what I was remembering is that the blood bath thing wasn't in the trial nor anything about her drinking blood, although it was reported that in a frenzy she bit out chunks of flesh ewwwww"

I think this may have been the page I was referring to.
