Sherman, I'm making this a new topic for you so it isn't tacked onto the old thread. [Wink]

Just came back from Gettysburg again, and went by the Home sweet home hotel.Well guys,it ain't there any more!!! The government bought the ground and tore the whole thing down, leveled out the ground ,and planted grass! It is part of their plan to restore as much land as possible back the civil war days. Well It was a cloudy cold moon lit night when we finally came down steinwher ave into town. This has been my luckiest two years ever for seeing Ghosts, and other things. There, standing in the full moon light was this weird looking person, standing exactly where I'd seen the house the year or so before.Thin ,thin, thin, is all I can say about this person. Dressed completly in brown,It seemed to have a hood on it's head.My wife for some reason didn't see it.Like the dummy I am ,I didn't stop, and I told my wife later I wanted to kick myself. This person apppeared to be disoriented, and kept looking around (turning) as if it couldn't decide where it was.Man am I mad at myself for not stopping! It seems that these things come up on you so fast that you don't have the time to react to any of the stimuli! I think I told you guys about the elevator in the holiday Inn next to jenny wades house.Get a room on parking level, and if your lucky, you'll hear the elevators go up and down all night. Something is hitting the bottons, that's for sure! You can hear the bell as it hits each floor. This went on all night one time when we were there ,and it drove us nuts.I came out into the hallway and stood there as the bell rang, the doors opened ,but none was on the elevator This last time we heard nothing! Not a bell!! Sherman

Good story ... the elevator trick is an old one from my childhood days.... staying on the top floor of the hotel.. call the elevator up .. step inside press all the buttons step out and let it go when finally gets to the bottom call it back up again. When kids are bored they will find something to keep themselves entertained. If I had been there I belive I would had to ride the elevator on one of its journeys just to make sure iwas not a kid upstairs playing or whether it was in fact ghostly activity.

Don't you think childern would get kind of bored after three or four hours of hitting bells,or even more bored after six or seven, especially since no one is even up at that time to care??

depends on how bored they are or .. knowing that they are aggrivating someone trying to sleep.
I stayed at a motel in TN when my mom passed away her funeral was the next day. I was having a hard enough time sleeping... but the teenagers three doors down spent the night walking up and down bumping cars making the car alarms go off. I watched them out the window for a while. They would set one off... duct back inside .. wait for the owner to come out and shut it down... then wait and come out again. it wasn't until about 5 am that I got any sleep. It does not take much to entertain bored kids. Just like at christmas when they get a new toy and before the day is over they are playing with the box it came in.
Anyway all I am saying is there is another possible explanation for the elevators running ..other than paranormal activity. If it had been me I would have ridden the elevator through its course to find out whether the buttons were pushing themselves.

That's really cool, Sherman, that you saw that thin guy where that old house used to be. Do you thinkhe was connected to it somehow? Maybe he was wondering where it went!

As for the elevator, true, we have to rule out logical explanations, but if that hotel has a history of that particular activity taking place... maybe it really was the ghost(s). I've heard of this type of thing happening in other haunted hotels!

Remember the haunted "Jenny Wade" house sits only -feet- away. They hold a ghost conference in this hotel every year and you can get the dates on the web. People bring in their ghost tapes photo's etc. I hope to attend one of these years. "Gettysburg Ghost Conference" Holiday Inn, Baltimore St. Gettysburg.
