Hi Everyone,

This case just threw me. Durst said he killed the man, dismembered him and got off? Because the jury had no other charges left to charge him with?
I did follow this closely.
I think if it was self-defense at the very least he should have gotten abuse of a corpse or something?
What's everyone else think? I think prosecution screwed up because they thought that had a shut and closed case because he readily admitted it.
And what about Robert's missing wife?
Am I the only one scratching their head over this one?

Nope, Piglet, you aren't the only one who is confused over this case. At one time, when a fellow admitted to killing someone and chopping their body up, they were usually found guilty. This left several of us shaking our heads.
Incidentally, my mother and I vaguely knew Morris Black, the fellow who was murdered. About 15 years ago, his former wife was Mom's beautician. When the case came out, we were pretty shocked. I only recall meeting him once, but I remember his wife saying that he had led a very difficult life. From the photos of him, it looked as if he might have fallen on hard times since we met him.
As for Durst, too many people who have been close to this guy wind up dead, and his story is just too flaky. I don't buy that he has been just an innocent bystander to all of these tragedies.

Hi Carrie,
I know and totally agree with what you said also.
It's like the prosecution messed up or money can get you out of anything?
And now, Durst is out on the streets?
If this man had a sick enough mind to do what he did to Morris, I am sure this is not the last that will be heard of this man.
I hope and pray he doesn't hurt another person.
Just to let him walk out of the courthouse made me ill. As I am sure it did you.
Lots of hugs,
PIggie

Errrggghh,I'm no psychiatrist, but I'd have to say, sociopath, suffering psychotic breaks, haunted by paranoid delusions, caused by his own acts.( Of course I have no real clue, just an observation.)

You know the creepy thing is. You can get busted for drug charges in this country & do more time than you will for murder in a lot of cases...
A man here just got sentenced to 10 yrs for killing his wife. That's eligibility for parole in 3&1/2 yrs!

I've met 2 murderers for sure, that I know of.
One, we are still waiting to find out what's going to happen to him. He was a man I worked with, he shot his wife. We the people at work are all now convinced that it was premeditated.

The other was a customer from a store I used to work at. He tunneled over to his next door neighbors, through his basement. He then killed her, dismembered her & drug her back to his house. I can't think of his name at the moment, but I remember the story. He was on Autopsy 5 on HBO yrs ago.

With odds like that, murderers being paroled in just a few yrs, it begs the question ...Just how many murderers have I really met? Or any of us met?

Thanx for the link Peg, will have to add that one to favorites. I agree w/ you guys, his stories do NOT add up. I say do away w/ this piece of human rubbish & good riddance! =(

Hi all,
I know that comment about having a murder trial and not thinking it could have been done without a head? Absolutely floored me. There have been murder trials without the body? DUH?
What got screwed up is the jury wasn't given any lesser charge, 2nd degree nothing to charge him with.
Basically the prosecution let a killer walk free in this case.
And yeah, money could have played a large part in it. Seems the more you have, the more you get away with in this country sometimes doesn't it? But luckily not all the time!

Yep, another crazy one.... Makes you wonder what society is coming to. I did read, however; that he will be facing other charges, including abuse of a corpse. But, the man has money... so doubt there will not be much of a punishment there. Sometimes real people are much more terrifying than the spirits we fear in the dark. Gives me the heebie jeebies knowing he's going to be out on the streets.
