A visitor to the site, John, sent this in. I find it to be a very unusual orb; I've not seen one like this before. Any ideas?

Since both were taken at night it's not likely to be caused by light refraction. There doesn't seem to be anything to reflect from. Unless there was another source of light similar in both pictures that is out of camera range. If there were in different positions then they would cause the same shape in different places.
