I've taken thousands of photos with my camera and I never seen anything out of the ordinary in my pics. However, the other night, we were in an abandoned Hospital and I noticed a strange mist in one of my pictures when I got home.

Have a look and let me know what ya think...

That looks interesting but it's hard to tell what all that reflective metal will do to the film.

I checked out your web site and I saw several pics with orbs.

Hi John,

That is either a dent or shape in the stainless steel if on the fridge is what your talking about.
I have been in foodservice 30 years in one capacity or another and have had alot of pics come out like that.
But, just my thoughts. =)

Yeah, a lot of the pictures have orbs in them but I alway chalk it up to dust.

See, I'm a bit of a sceptic, but I would love to have something happen to make me a more of a believer. It's probably why I go to these abandoned places, I'm looking for answers.

I will say that since I've started exploring, I definitely have had some strange "feelings" at some places. Especially old asylums.

Have any of you been to any old asylums?

Well it's hard to be 100% sure in any case, but I think you might have something in that photo. Did you take more than one picture of the kitchen? If one came out with the mist and another (taken around the same time) didn't, that makes it more convincing that you caught some sort of spirit activity.

Plus being an old hospital, they tend to have spirit activity. =)

Did you feel anything unusual when you took the picture? A presence, a cold feeling, or a dizzyish sensation?

Actually, I took a bunch of pictures in that kitchen and that was the only one that had the mist in it.

NOt only did I get a weird feeling in thae hospital, the whole place had a weird vibe to it.

Here is my write-up about it if your interested:

Wow, what a bizarre place. Do you know any history of it? I'm curious as to why they left the lights on and left all the equipment there when they closed it down. Someone must be paying the electric bill.

You probably did set off the alarm, but with the phone lines disconnected it couldn't call the cops.

Based on the foggy pic and your weird vibes, it looks like you found a spook! [Eek Smile] I wonder if the orbs are real or dust, it's hard to tell.

Although I am a sensitive, I naturally follow my instinct of any other possible cause first.
It looks pretty sure that you at least have a few true orbs in the pic, maybe some dust ones also. But with that many, my bet would be some are orb's.
The reason I said that about the kitchen equipment is it's my job. I am a national account controller for a world-wide foodervice and we do take pictures of company assets such as kitchen equipment.
As you can see, your flash also caught the corner of the sink and ends of the ovens on the right. Most likely wherever dust wasn't. Old stainless steel, I can only imagine the style or dents in it. It's not that hard, I can punch a dent in stainless easily.
I do a have book for depreciation purposes, on any of your pics can you get the make and model and I can check on the style. It actually doesn't llok that old. Then again, kitchen equipment doesn't change every year either.
Thanks,
Peg

Just looking through your great pics on your pages. ... The Monument in the Cemetery in Marlboro .. the round disce you have labelled "Not sure what this is?" ... To me it looks like at one time it was a Sun dial. Has parts missing.

The mist in that picture almost looks as if someone had hot water running in the sink before you took the picture and it steamed up, however, it's not dense enough to be steam. Was that a digital camera or a film camera or did you answer this question and i just missed the answer because it's 7:15 AM in the morning?

Yeah, it looks like something to me regardless of my imaginitive reasoning.

Hey,

The camera I use is a digital. Like I said, I never saw a strange mist like that in any picture I've taken with it. Thats why I found it so strange.

I went back to Byberry Mental Hospital this weeknd and I got another picture which was even stranger than the one from the hospital. I took this picture in an old ballroom that was in one of the old womens cottages:
Mist and an Orb in the old ballroom[/URL]

Here is a picture of the ballroom when the hospital was still open, for comparison:

The stage is gone now, but if you look closely you can see its the same room.

Think this might be something?

a question to rule out other possibilities... What was the temperature the days these pics were taken? the mist could have been your breath in the air if cold enough. Also don't easily discount all orbs as dust... some are yet some are not ... take Savanah's Gettysburg belted orbs for instance... dust orbs are usually in vary shapes and sizes ...
Take a bath towel and shake it briskly in a darkened room then snap the pic... you should see tons of dust orbs.

Great website John! I needed something to take my mind off the daily hogwash, that hit the spot! Nice photography & I like the morbid streak, keep up the good work! [Cool]

I took your pic of the orb in the ballroom and inverted it. I'm far from an expert, but I think it could be an orb. One reason I'm thinking this, is because, seems to me, in a place like that, old and dirty...if it were dust... you would have more than one big speck of dust? There are other people in here who have far more experience with photos and orbs than me... Here's the altered pic I did... maybe someone else could give you a better opinion. =)

Good idea to do that Alan. See, those dust orbs don't seem to have any real substance to them. An actual orb, to me anyway, always seems to have some substance to it. I agree with Savannah too in that if that orb in the ballroom were just dust, in that old of a place, I would definitely think that there would be more. I can be skeptical as well, but I think you may have gotten something there with that orb. As far as the mist, I have to agree that if it was cold enough it may be your breath in the air.

It wouldn't surprise me that you've caught some spirit activity in some of the places you've visited. Especially at Byberry with it's sketchy history. So many people were there for so many years with so many problems beyond their own mental issues. Patients were horribley mistreated. With all that constant pent up emotion I can't imagine that something wasn't left behind.

Hey Trinity - I see that you're from Bucks county, have you ever been to Byberry? It's horribly trashed because of the idiots that go there and vandalize it, but it is still a cool place to see.

I went while Y100 was doing the haunted house there, but that was the only time. I would love to actually do something like that. I think it would be so interesting to see it as it is now. Let me ask you though, I've heard that it's patrolled constantly, how do you guys not get busted while there?

Someone else mentioned that Y100 thing to me as well. What exactly did they do there?

As far as getting into Byberry goes, tons of people go there all the time. However, they do have fulltime security and the police do patrol the area.

From what I remember (it was awhile ago) they just had a sectioned off area that you walked through. I'm not sure what building it was in. It was pretty much like any other haunted house. I do remember that they had a few people that were dressed up (of course) sitting in small rooms along a hallway, they would run up to the door as you walked by like they were trying to get out to get ya [Eek Smile] It didn't take that long to walk through, so they didn't use a very big area. It was pretty creepy none the less.

They didn't have the haunted house there for very long. I think only a few years before Y100 stopped hosting it. Not sure why, maybe it was just getting too far into disrepair to have it any longer.
