Hmmm, seems unlikely that they'd want to be proven wrong. If it was just one person maybe...But then, I've never been to England. Either way thanx for the link, Kev. I wish the published photo was larger. It's a cool pic. [Shocked]

Thanx Jen!
It looks all smudgy around the figure? Doesn't look like ecto photos I've seen. I'm not sure if that would indicate tampering or not.
Whadda you all think? [Confused]

I saw that today on the MSN home page. Thanks for posting the bigger picture Jen. At first glance I thought it was a hoax, I've never seen anything captured so clearly before. But, who knows, they're claiming that it's not so I guess you never know. If it is real then WHOA [Eek Smile]
Either way it's a creepy picture.

It's hard to say with just the still photo. If it was taken from security camera footage, they probably have a video tape. They should release a clip of the figure stepping into view and opening and/or closing the door. Then there will be more information to make an informed decision.

I totally agree Kevin. Seeing the actual video footage would make it easier to tell if it was a fake or the real deal. Or like you said, at least make it easier to make a more informed decision. Have you found any sites that might have the actual footage?

Hey Yall,

I saw the video footage last night on the Fox News Channel (cable channel.) They replayed it several times. The thing is, that the figure disappeared from view so quickly. It was really hard to tell exactly what it was. It didn't seem to proceed all the way through the doors. If it did, it disappeared as soon as it made it through them. I wish they would have done a close-up of the footage. England is a very spirit-active place, so anything is possible. Just hard to see, even on the video footage.

Oops. I forgot to include this link from Fox News website... it has a still pic of it there, was hoping they would have the footage... but gives an interview with one of the workers there and some other interesting facts about the Palace...

Peg I went to the link you said to go to and its a financial website. I have seen others mention coast to coast in their postings, but I have yet to find the correct website. I would be very interest in a downloadable clip of this video to disect in my primitive ways... to see what I can see.. My preliminary hunch is someone was playing a joke on the security team. I saw the clip on the news last night... actually I had two thoughts first was a hoax .. second if it were a ghost was he trapped or confined to the building and kept trying to go out but something would not allow it.. But as I saw the clip and as clear yet not so clear ... it seemed to be an actual person.

I am now leaning towards hoax, when the doors first open the person is just inside in the shadows then steps forward to close one door then the other ... but as he steps forward in one quick frame a white sneaker appears under the cloak. Either that or its a ghost. Write them and tell them to install better security cameras... put a ghost cam on the door. Do something get clearer images..

The animated gif is too slow a frame rate to tell what was happening. The realplayer video wouldn't load for me. For those who saw it on TV, was it a normal frame rate, or was it the 2 frames/sec that the gif was?

I'm seeing an issue here that will most likely, unfortunately go unresolved...It looks to me that if someone wanted to pull a prank they could feasibly do it & not get caught. Alan I saw what you mean & I can't tell if it's a sneaker or not, it's too darned fuzzy!
Troubling to me is that I'm still seeing that fuzzy kinda smudgy area around the "apparition", it seems to move with the thing? Or could that be because the resolution is so bad? [Confused]

When I first saw this shot in the newspaper my first thought was "oh, Christmas Future".

It's hard to get a grasp on this. It appears the doors open with a forceful blast and then the apperition steps in to close it. Also, these are the types of doors that must be closed in a certain order because the closure procedure has to be repeated.

The ecto effect could be smoke (smoke bomb). If you set off a small smoke bomb and then push open the doors forcefully, the intake of air would creat a swirl as the doors open and as the figure steps in to close the doors. This could be nothing more than a sneaky smoker clearing his evidence, wearing a hooded raincoat (it rains a lot over there)so the cameras can't identify him. Shoot lost another smoking spot.

It seems to me with the amount of hauntings that are reported there, there would have been some other sitings or feelings in that area before. That camera must have been there for quite a while.

What good are security cameras if they cant get clearer images than this ... If this was someone breaking into the place ... how would they identify them?? Kevin the video I saw on TV last night was choppy like the gif. the Real media file is a streaming file only evidently .. as I tried and tried to download it but it will ony play from the site. Guess they don't want people to study it too closely

Hey Yall:

I saw the footage again on a local station. Appears to be 2 frames per second. At any rate, I think it's a publicity thing. I thought the pic was creepy, but I didn't get a feeling that I was seeing a "real" apparition. I have no doubt that there have been sightings there or that the place is haunted. I just don't think this one is for real. I went to the website for Hampton Court Palace, and they're having special events there at this time of year, and people dressed in period costumes. Dec 27th thru Jan 1, they're hosting "An Elizabethan Christmas," and; Dec 6th thru Jan 18, they have an outdoor skating rink there. They've also opened up a new permanent exhibition on the history of Hampton Court Palace. hmmmm... whatcha think? The face was too white and it looked more like someone in costume than an apparition to me. That's just my opinion. The website is Hampton Court Palace[/URL]

Click on events and exhibitions. I agree, they should have better cams than that [Laughing] And I also think, they would have caught more ghosties on film before now. I know, I know... bah humbug, Silkie [Wink]

Well, what I seen on Coast2Coast, the face looked white also? Maybe I am just having a backwards day here on Mars, but it looked to me also it was closing the doors one at a time?
Until better footage is seen, I say prank?
