If the Drake theory is correct then we are not alone. We are amongst a thriving universe of life.
Its up to us as a whole to open our eyes, open our hearts, open our minds to accept it.
If we choose to carry on the way we are, then we shall be ignored, its not us looking for them, its them looking at us. Are we realy worth helping?
Lets help each other first and show them we are.

I've been reading about some of his work. Assuming I have the right man. I found this piece to be very interesting. It put me in the mind of some Ray Bradbury & Outer Limits stuff. I do believe there could be other life out there. Get the feeling we're just guessing still at what that life is. I hope if the introduction should ever officially happen we can keep our heads cool. =)

Well if we ever do get an official introduction to another alien life form, it iwll be in our intersts to as you say keep a cool head.
But I personaly suspect certain governments on this world of ours already know things we dont.

If I were an alien species, I would avoid us like the plague.

Can you imagine the trauma to our population if only another species from another would just made themselves known to our species?
Right now it's just a debate. Something you can believe or disbelieve. An arguement you can always put on a shelf. Something you can ignore.

And if they shared technologies with us. (BRRRR Shivers). What the nationalistic/paranoid people in governments and the greedy business people (and vice-versa) would do the planet and our species with new technologies. I don't even want to let my imagination wonder in that direction.

As you said, we need to help ourselves first.
We hold great promise as a species. For the most beautiful and the most horific things.

And besides with untold gagillions of new e-mail addresses the spammers would destroy civilizations throughout the known universe.

But then again with that new technology and quick action we may be able to re-locate all the spammers to a remote asteroid in a remote region of our galaxy.

Nakis... That sounds like a plan to me. I'm kinda on the fence on this one. But, I agree that the government probably knows a lot more than they let on. Like Area 57 for one thing. And how did Stonehenge get there? Those are some mighty big rocks for mere mortals to move without modern technology and equipment... and then there are all those crop circles... I wouldn't think they are all hoaxes... The Bible doesn't say anything about us being the only ones in the universe... So who knows? I just hope if they ever do "touch down," that they are friendly and have knowledge for curing some of the incurable diseases, or have the answer to world peace. And hope they dont come to earth in an egg and look like Mork from Ork... Nanu Nanu... e1 =P

Interesting comment about being friendly, I think if they were going to hammer us into the ground it would have to be before we got to much technology to fight back. If you have that idea i nmind then I think its obviuose that they would study us first find out our weaknesses find our strengths. Then strike hard. BUT I honestly dont think that is going to be the case, in my humble opinion I think they would rather help us than to take us on after all who would want the likes of human beings riding all over the galaxy knowing we have the internal thing of kiling every thing that we dont understand.
If they slowly educate us as in films, books, talks on this subject to find our reaction then the better for all concerned. After all in wortld war II that went on a lot the enemy coming here in disguise to find out about us as we did to them.
Who is to say that is not going on this day, if they have the tecnology to be able to look like us then we are fooled. Goto the top places in government buildings infultrate get to know us well enough to either make a move on us of to help us.
What do we have in our favour?
Music, Art, cultures around the world, peace loving people.
What do we have against us?
Greed, power, curuption, control..........
Be honest here if you were an alien race would you want to help us or ignore us.?

okay....going way out on a limb here but I think there are two species of aliens: one that is simply curious, sort of like the one's in ET and Close Encounters and then there is the one that is harmful. They are the abductors, the "scientists" they mean to do us harm like the one's in "Signs". I also believe, crazy as it may sound that both "races" of aliens are already amoungst us, moving at either faster or slower speeds then our eyes and brains can detect. When they slow down ( or speed up) to match our current "speed" that's when we see them.


So okay, if I were an alien? Well, the human side of me says that I would want to reach out and help "us" but since I'm pretending that I'm not human I guess I would have to anialate us....sorry to say. We are so consumer oriented, we take take take and give very little back in return. We've over populated Mother Earth and now are looking into possible colonization of other planets.... screwing up this planet wasn't enough so now we have to do it to the next inhabitable planet?! Since I strongly beleive that either species of aliens are more highly intelligent then us mere humans, it would seem logical that, to the aliens, we are incapable of rational and intelligent thought, incapable of learning the lessons we are presented with each and every day, incapable of peace; we are a violent people prone to rage, intolerant of "differences" amoungst our own kind. We use up or squander our resources, creating unecessary panic ( Y2K?!)... we want bigger, taller, better *everything* and when we get it, we want more, if we don't get it we throw temper tantrums. We've poluted our air, our oceans and our lands. We say we want peace, but silently wish that we could push the "big red button" ( war is great for the economy, ya know). Yep, if I were an alien and i was watching this planet, I would run for the hills after blowing the humans off the face of the earth hoping to create a respit for ol momma and wish the next human race better luck..........since you asked.

Well Miss Grrl I agree with all of that. I some times wander if a good hard kicking will do us all good, we are far to arrogant in our ways, to cocky, we think we know it all. But at the end of the day we dont know any thing thats worth knowing.
If the top guys of this world were to realise that its not just "MONEY" that makes the world go round we may then have a chance.
Man is very good at looking the other way when comes to asking him for help from lesser people.
If aliens see this in us, what chance do we have?

But we need help becuase if we dont get it soon I think we are going to end up with more trouble than we can handle.
It takes more than power greed coruption and missiles and warheads to get a proper world, it takes love understanding, tollerance, peace, and give and take not like it is these days TAKE, TAKE, TAKE.
almost every government on this world of ours is guilty of that, along with the powerfull companies and all that goes with it. When will we ever learn, I for one am willing and ready to live in total peace and harmony.
This is why I am such a rebel in life, I go against the wrong, never the right of wanting peace and love. its wrong its all wrong and we all know it.

awwww, Mike, I shoulda married ya when you asked me ( joking!) I wonder if we, the humans, the "leaders", the big companies, etc., could ever get on the same page? I agree that somewhere, deep down inside the "leaders" of the world know it's all wrong and go to bed at night wishing "things" could be different, maybe even praying for world peace, but then they wake up "refreshed" and some other world "leader" dangles a wad of money and......this world can't survive much longer on the wishes and dreams of people! We need to get our $hit together, stand up and make some noise!!!

Well I dont know what it is like with polatitions in the USA but over here its all based on lies, cover ups, and shoulder rubbing in high places.
When we say what we want we get told that THEY know whats best for the people. You have probably heard all this before. It will take a lot more than just a few of us.
When some one says they will tell the world of what they think and what they will do to drop the powers that be in it,isnt it strange how that person winds up dead. Take a look at history it shows you. This will take a combined effort from all of us.

If there are any aliens watching this world and how we behave they must be totaly disgusted or on the floor laughing there heads off at us. Hmmmm not sure what I would do if I was an outsider looking in? Startrek has the best idea about man no longer needing money and sharing things. yes I know its only a TV thing but lets face it, the actual idea is the best idea I have seen so far, do you think some one out there is trying to tell us some thing. The politics here are pretty bad, Mike, & very sneaky. That's all it's smart for me to say on the subject in here.
As far as Mother Earth goes...seems to me eventually will come a day when we'll have to heal her or leave her, as science fiction has portrayed for us.(the movie Red Planet-good example)
Maybe we won't make it far enough into time as a species to make that decision...Who knows? =(

I like the observation you made on the 13th DO. If they were hostile they would have done something by now. Not wait until we come up with something that we could defend ourselves with.

Some people believe it's humans who are performing experiments on the populaces and brain washing them into thinking it's aliens.
