I heard a rumor that my office building was built on top of an indian burial ground. Strange things happen all the time and my boss always brushes it off and says it's my imagination. Any suggestions on how to approach someone about it at my office? [Roll Eyes]

Hmmmm... not sure I'd know what advice to offer. If it is a rumor, then you probably aren't the only one thinking in that direction. I'm the type of person that would just come right out and say what I was thinking. But, I don't know your boss or other people that you are working with, so that may not be the thing to do. I was wondering what kind of strange things are happening? You could take a digital cam to work with you, and act like you're just taking pics of your friends and co-workers and see if anything shows up? Like I said, that depends on your work environment and if that would be accepted. Maybe go to the courthouse or library and do a little research of your own first, to find out if it is a rumor, or true, that the place was built around an Indian burial ground. I think I'd start there. =)

yup- the thing to do is research first. as well as the courthouse and library you may find that you local historical society can help out. I did that. went in there armed with an engineer's scale, got an old map and transfered the scale indicated into something I could work with and voila! my house was built dead on the christian indian burial ground from the 1600's in st. augustine florida. weird stuff was happening all the time at that house!!! it helped to know.

where do you live??

What sort of strange things are happening in the office? Have you, or anyone else seen, or felt anything unusual there? Does the place have an odd feeling to it, or cold spots? That could be an indication of a haunting. For example, I've never seen a ghost with my eyes, but I can feel when they are present. Sometimes I find they will cause a disoriented feeling, or a feeling that there is someone there when there is no one else around.

Also what Savannah and Sundog have said, see if you can find out more about the location, its history, etc. Ancient burial grounds seem to be frequently haunted, or something that happened in the building itself could lead to a haunting.

Did you notice the strange things happening before or after you heard the rumor about the building being built over an indian burial ground? Sometime I think we hear things like that and our minds begin wanting to see or notice things... some things that happen all the time and we normally pay no attention to... but hearing that the place could be haunted makes us more aware of these things... and we begin to question them.

Absolutely do more research. [Wink] Sometimes I think that folks give "built on an ancient Indian burial ground" as a default reason for hauntings. It *surely can* be the cause, but I'd not take it for truth if it's just an office rumor.

Taking pictures is good too, if, as has been said, it's allowed in your office.

Let us know what you find out..
