My sister and her step-daughter were over at my house the other day, and the conversation went to ghosts and so forth. The step-daughter was saying that she felt the she and her husband were being haunted by a "little girl." They recently moved into another house, which is not new, and is located in a small mill village. She was telling me that even before they moved, her husband woke up out of a sound sleep to see a little blonde haired girl standing by his bed, then she disappeared. They do have 2 little girls, themselves, both blonde. Twice since they have moved, the husband has told his wife, "Brianna was in here, see if she got back in the bed." Then the other night, she got up to go to the bathroom, and her hubby said, "Watch it, Brianna is in here laying on the floor by the bed." Well, she looked and nope... Brianna was not in the room. She went to the girls' room and both were tucked in and sleeping soundly. The dad is not a person who is "into ghosts," but I think he is open-minded on the subject. And I would think, as a parent, he knows what his own child looks like. What I'm thinking is that maybe Brianna is astral projecting? She's known to be scared sometimes at night like a lot of children are. She is also very close to her dad. I'm just wondering if she is doing some astral traveling at night to be near her dad, kinda like a security blanket? Was wondering what you all thought.

Well I suppose it could be either a ghost or an astral projection. I don't know if someone astrally projecting themselves is routinely visible to others in the room. How old is Brianna? Maybe there is a ghost in the house that looks similar to Brianna and appears at night. Maybe they can ask Brianna if she had any dreams about being in their room overnight.

Did this ever happen before they moved?

Hi Kevin,

I was wondering that too, if she was doing some astral travel would it be possible for her spirit to be seen? Brianna is 6 yrs old. Yes, the first time it happened, they were living in the other house. He woke up and saw a blonde haired little girl by the bed. That time, he didn't say it was Brianna, only that he had seen a little girl and that she disappeared. It gave him the creeps. Since they moved into this house, he's been saying that it is Brianna. He is awake when he sees her. The area they live in dates back to pre-civil war era, and the village has just been recently recognized as a historic village. There have been a few stories of hauntings in that town. There was also a typhoid epidemic there either before or after the civil war, I'll have to research that. But I know quite a few people died from that including children. I'm just confused as to why he thinks it is her that he is seeing and then she is asleep in the bed. Guess at night when a person is sleepy it could be easy to get confused. [Confused]

Maybe he could keep an eye on the jammies. If she is traveling I don't think her clothing would change... But I agree, I don't know if I've ever heard of it being visible to others.
Might want to keep the parental ears alert for any talk of new playmates. [Eek Smile]

Well, I can't shed any light on this subject just a few more things to confuse it further.

There are several urban legends roaming around that do suggest that on occasion people having an oob have had their astral form seen. Don't know if any of these stories have been confirmed for sure though.

There is also a brain function that enables us to see a portion of a thing or picture or symbol and be able to recognize it for what it is. It's like a neural "auto complete". It is possible that your son is seeing an apparition with a surface resemblance to Brianna and interpreting it as Brianna actually being there. No one actually expects for a ghost to appear in their bedroom while a small child has been known to appear all too often.

Grumpie, what you're saying makes sense. And you too Hallows. I'll tell them to take note of what the "apparition" is wearing, if it's like Brianna's pj's or whatever. I was also thinking of suggesting they set up their video cam in their room sometimes and see if it catches any paranormal activty.

Just a note: (this is my sister's son-in-law... yall don't make me a grandma before my time) [Laughing]

Hmm. Well, anything is possible. [Wink] I don't think it too far out to believe that Brianna may be astral projecting and for her father to see her. But I'm not sure if someone who is awake would see an astral projection? I've heard of seeing others astral project within a dream state, but not like this. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen though.

However, I have to wonder..... and this is because many men will often apply logic where there is none. Meaning, when first he saw this little girl, he didn't say anything about it being Brianna - it freaked him out. Because it freaked him out and he (perhaps subconciously) needed/wanted an explanation for what he was seeing, decided it *had to be* Brianna. "It wasn't a ghost, it was just my daughter." See what I mean? For some, it's much more comfortable to think it's something 'known' vs. 'unknown'.

It would be a good idea for them to put up a video camera during the night(s). I'm curious to know if the mother, if she were to see "Brianna" as the father did/does... would she agree that is her child? Hmm!

Does anyone watch "Beyond Belief"? That's the show where they dramatize true and untrue stories and you have to guess if it's true or not. They had a TRUE story where a young couple were house hunting and she kept having dreams about the perfect house (really vivid dreams). Of course they find this house exactly as she dreamed it and it's out of their price range but decide to make an offer anyway. They are surprised to learn the owner has instructed the realestate agent to accept the first bid because the house is haunted. After the papers are signed, the owner pops in and is surprised to learn that the young woman is the woman of her haunting. So, if this is a true story, I suppose others can see people that are astral projecting. AND I want to know how to do it because I've seen some great houses that I'd like to buy for pennies on the dollar. [Big Grin]

I was just looking up somes terms which may relate here'

doppelganger/double /bi-location

doppelganger and double are the same....an apparation of a living person. it may be some kind of astral projection....it said even the clothes will be same as what the person has on.

I used to hear my huband come through the gate/up the path/ onto the porch/ hand on the doorknob and the poof...nothing. ten minutes later he would then actually come home. I didnt see him- I even watched and heard it go by. saw nothing. this happened for a span of about a 2 months then it quit. I was wide awake too.

so I guess doubles may be simply heard as well.

Thanks yall, you gave me some ideas and suggestions to make to them. Kev, the doppleganger or ghost masquerading is a creepy yet good possibility. Hoping they will set up a cam and I will keep yall posted. It could turn out to be very interesting.

Ther is another possible explanation to this. Although it’s easy to think that the apparition comes from outside since he’s awake, it dosn’t have to be. I have several times woken up seeing strange but yet extremely life-like things/creatures in my bedroom, even though I’m wide awake. Most of the times, I think it’s a piece of the dreamworld lingering on into reality. Perhaps that’s what’s happening in this case? A part of his mind could still be dreaming, despite the fact that the rest of him is awake. A situation like that could create very, very real-looking images of his daughter. The question is then really why he’s having such dreams. My guess is that there’s something concerning the daughter that the dad is not seing, but should see. You said that the daughter easily gets scared at night, right? Maybe this is a sign to the dad that he should take that fear more seriously?
