I've been having weird dreams this week and did not have a clue as to why until today.
Several times this week, I had been dreaming that my mother, who passed away in November, had been trying to tell me to be extra careful in the kitchen. I had originally thought she had been holding up a snake in my dream.
For a few days, I was a little paranoid, thinking I would open up my pantry to find a snake hissing at me.
It turned out not to be a snake, but an electrical wire.
Today at noon, I had been cooking our dinner. I had put some bread in the oven and went to check it -- our stove had caught on fire. I shut the door, turned off the electricity and went to call 911. It took 3 tries to tell them where we lived, so I went outside to flag them down. Thinking it was taking too long and sure my house was going up in flames, I tentatively decided to check around the house. Everything appeared to be fine, so I made my way back to the kitchen. The fire was out.
I called 911 again and had them cancel the call.
Next time, I think I'll pay a little closer attention to my dreams. I don't know that I've ever had a warning in a dream before!

OMG, Carrie! I'm so glad that everything is okay! No doubt your mother was trying to warn you. Yipe! That could have been bad. I guess it's time for a new stove, huh? [Big Grin]

I hope dinner wasn't completely ruined. [Wink]

Thanks, Mom!!

I had a kitchen grease fire once, it was downright terrifying! I'm so glad it did't get out of control & everything's allright. Good to know you've got someone in your corner! [Wink]

As it turns out, nothing was damaged (even dinner)! It is a new stove, bought last summer. After it cooled down, I was able to see that something had been spilled in the bottom, which caught on fire.
Yesterday, when I opened it, it looked like a big bar-b-que grill the way the flames were leaping out. Scared the bejeezers out of me! I just knew it was going to spread to the rest of the house. The room was a little smokey, but today, everything seems to have cleared out. We will very carefully clean the spill and try it out today to see if everything is working. Whew!!

OOH OOH! Can I hit you over the head? With one of those foam rubber things like they use in the gladiator TV shows. [Laughing] [Laughing] [Shocked]

That was a great dream. You were warned about something in your kitchen that would come up and bite you. In this case fire. Too bad there wasn't anyway to connect the grease spill to fire/snake. But at least you were somewhat mentally prepared.
I'm glad everything turned out OK.

Do you keep a fire extinguisher in your kitchen? Basement? They sell those small ones that are about a foot long with mounting brackets pretty cheaply. I keep one in the kitchen and one in the basement for emergencies. They don't cost much money and they may save you lots of money and even lives.

I've had many warnings in dreams. They are rarely straight forward. Just allow your intuition to guide you. =)

Just whack away Nakis! =P
I do have a fire extinguisher in the utility room, but I panicked and forgot it. James has been working on completing the utility room, so we have boxes everywhere in there. My first thought was to grab my baby and get the heck out of there! He will be mounting an extinguisher in the pantry this weekend.
Poor Brianna thought her Mommy had really lost it. I knew something was going on in that kitchen from the dreams, I just never thought about my stove. I will be taking much more notice of any unusual dreams like that in the future!
