Hello All;
Thought I would share a thought for today I found in Chinese Philosophy In Classical Times page 288-9:
"All this is action by inaction, which harmonizes with the Tao, speech by non-speech, which is pervaded with spiritual power. Thus gladly, without anything exalting itself, with everything achieving harmony, there are the myriad differences in things, but agreement with everything's nature [i.e. natural proclivity]. The Tao is divinely entrusted to the tip of the fading grass stalk; and at the same time it makes the wholeness of the vast universe. Its power tranquilizes the heavens and the earth, harmonizing the Yin and the Yang, making the regular intervals of the seasons, and co-ordinating the Five Forces. As it warms with its breath and gently instructs, overshadows, and nurtures, all creatures of every kind receive life. It imbues grass and tree, metal and stone, makes the robustness of bird and beast, giving the sheen to feather and scale, bringing forth horns and antlers. It is the Tao which makes the beasts' wombs not to miscarry and the birds' eggs not to addle: so also with fathers saved from grief of losing their sons, elder brothers saved from mourning their younger brothers, children not becoming orphans and wives not becoming widows, no baleful influence in rainbow or comet: all this, wherever the all-containing power of the Tao regulates."

from: Everyman's Library No. 973;
'Huai Nan Hung Lieh': The Theories Of A Group Of Syncretists;
written by king: Liu An in 122 B.C. of the Hui Nan area.

Do you think we could ever have a politician come up with something original like this in our era?
Thought I would share some positive wisdom with you all. If you all would like more quotes of Chinese spirituality like this, give me some feed back.
Thanx;
Tom
