I'm not saying it is paranormal, but it was definantly weird.
I had started the dishwasher, then started dinner. While I was cooking I called my husband since it was getting late and he wasn't home. I put the cordless phone down on the kitchen counter near the stove. At this point the dishwasher was still locked and running. The kids and I all ate dinner, then I sent them to bed. Hubby came home a little later. While he was in the kitchen reheating dinner I unlocked the dishwasher to unload it. But I didn't unload any of it because it seemed to make more of a mess than to clean anything, and I complained that we need a new dishwasher. We both left the kitchen. Then a few minutes later he wanted to use the phone. I told him I left it on the kitchen counter and to just hit the page button. He did and found the phone in the dishwasher.
Now there is at least 6 feet of counter space between the stove and the dishwasher. So it wasn't close enough that it could have just fallen in. Plus the dishwasher had been locked until I opened it, and when I opened it the phone was not in there. And neither one of us put the phone on the dishwasher.
My husbands (the total skeptic/cynic) says it probably just fell off the counter. It wasn't anywhere near the dishwasher to fall into it. Also if the phone had fallen from the counter to the bottom rack and hit pans and plates it would have made a very loud noise that we would have heard. Yet neither of us heard any crash or bang. But the phone was there. And as I said, all kids were in bed, upstairs and there is no way they could have got downstairs witout being seen.
I thought it was really very strange to have happened. And was definantly a first around here.

Sometimes things happen without an explanation. Obviously something was going on but you may never find out what it was. If you do, be sure to let us know =)

Several years ago, the kids and I came home to find a pile of sand in our kitchen floor. It looked like it had been poured out of a container....shaped just like a pyramid. This was in the middle of winter, we did not have a sandbox outside and after ruling out every reasonable explanation, we just figured a ghostie was trying to get our attention. Who knows why these things happen? Very interesting though.

I agree often things can happen with no real explanation. This is an interesting one [Shocked] as Cindy suggested you may have a visitor? One that doesn't want you to use the phone?

In our previous home and the one we live in now we have and continue to experience many things that are strange, unexplainable and confirm to us that we have others here with us. Here are just a few things for example: Screwy things with electrical or electrical items occur in particular with the lights, TV's and the stereo. We have had an electrician in the home (current one) who could not explain most of it. We even had quite a bit of re-wiring done only to have some of the same things start up again? Things that we thought were lost are found days or even weeks later in the oddest spots, and from time to time coins just keep showing up in various places around the house. Our cats act up oddly from time to time. When it first started in our previous home I thought I was losing it [Nutty] as I was often the only one that things happened to. As time went on things would happen with my hubby and kids and even while other family members were visiting. It was unnerving and scary at first. [Eek Smile] Still can be sometimes.

Keep us posted if anything further happens.

OOOOhhh-coins. That is very telling in and of itself. The spirit world often uses coins to communicate their presence. From what I've read, usually benign spirits use this form of communication. Sort of a "greetings from the other side" kind of thing. That's really cool.
Have you ever talked to your spirit? As bizarre as it sounds, I have only ever had one ghost and I talked to her all the time. Of course I had the advantage of knowing who she was and when/why she died. I figure if they're trying to tell us something, the least we can do is try to figure out what it is.
Keep us apprised,

Hi Musicalmama
Not sure if I have gone about it the right way but I have spoken out loud and in thought to whomever is visiting or hanging out in our place with us. I would love to know who it is or who they are (if that be the case). The coins appeared quite often over a span of time but it's been quiet with that lately. The tv changing channels, turning itself on or going louder still happens fairly frequently. Just had a little episode the other day that spooked my son a bit. [Eek!]
How did you talk with your ghost and find out who she was etc? We have let a tape recorder run a few times to see if we can capture a EVP but so far no luck. Still need to go to the archives building and search the land (we are second owners of the home). Any tips would be great.
