Hello people!
This is a quite simple question: Do you believe that Atlantis has existed (in this world)? Personally I believe that it has existed, but not in our dimension.

Wow, I didn't hink that there were that many who believe in Atlantis! (could have something to do with what kind of people are memers here... [Wink]
Anyway the whole Atlantis question drives me crazy, more or less. Whenever I read arguments for the existence of it, I always find some flaw that makes me really doubt the validity of it. I mean, there are som many people who will argue anything as long as it's unconventional! And if the writer in the next sentence proclaims that the human race was cloned by aliens I find it hard to take him seriously... But on the other hand it is clear that the accepted history of the world also has flaws! For example, in a museum on Crete there is an old pottery-vessel decorated with an enlargement of a plankton. The picture is so detailed that you would need a microscope to see it in a real plankton. And this from a time when mankind isn't even supposed to have had looking-glasses! I've seen this pottery, and it is really amazing.
Now, I'm a quite scientifically-minded person, believe it or not... If Atlantis has existed I think there would be more proof for its existence.
BUT here's the annoying part... I feel very, very connected to Atlantis. I've had an amazing experience, through a dream, where I actually saw Atlantis sink. This wasn't a normal dream, it seriously felt like I was gone for years, observing something that made the world what it today. I woke up in total shock, feeling an enormous grief and insight. It was truly horrible.

So I'm sure that it has happened. Somewhere. Just not in this world, because I think it would have left more traces. So the only option is really that it has happened in another dimension. And the old stories about Atlantis? Well, if I could see the disaster through a dream I'm sure others have as well.

Ok, this post became a lot longer than I planned, sorry for that. I would be interested to hear about what you guys think of Atlantis, so feel free to reply. But I'm afraid I'm practically drowning in schoolwork right now so I might not be able to answer right away.

HUGS from

I have wondered about the theory of Atlantis possibly still exsisting... but us knowing it as a nother name now. Atlantis from what I have read was supposed to be a place of great natural resources fresh water streams and mountains precious metals such as gold were plentiful. Atlantis was supposed to be in the center of the Atlantic ocean. Did people not believe the earth to be flat before Columbus? or is that a myth? Just a hypothetical here but weren't the Aztecs in central America rich in gold .. their temples were stone pyramids ... lush green forests and mountains with running streams ... and some one sailing across the Atlantic could run into Central america and think it nothing but a huge island in the middle of the atlantic... considering the Pacific is on the other side. Was the Pacific ocean mentioned in greek ? Just a thought

This is something that has interested me very much for many years. I believe it could have existed, but I won't say that I'm 100% sure of it. I guess we will never know!

I totally believe in Atlantis....I heard some rumor, which I don't know if I'm willing to give any creed to, that Atlantis existed prior to the great flood mentioned in the bible and that it may have been mentioned in the bible????????? [Confused]

It is believed that the ancient Minoan civilization which was highly advanced and existed on the island of Create could have been the basis for the Atlantis legend.

It was pretty much wiped out by a massive tidal wave resulting from a volcanic eruption on the island of Santorini in the Aegean Sea.

Hm, that thing about central America being Atlantis was interesting, allthough I think the Aztecs were a bit too late for that. Of course there were people before that, like the Olmecs, but I don't think they are known to have used gold. But the Olmecs are still really interesting. They have left lots of giant stone heads everywhere, and not much more.
Atlantis being Crete I find a bit hard to accept. I mean, Crete is still here, it didn't vanish. Yes, there was a disaster, but I think people in Geece around the time the myths about Atlantis started knew about Crete. That ceramics with the plankton I was talking about was Minoan, by the way.

Couple of hundred years ago people in Scandinavia though that Atantis was really Sweden...They also thought that Sweden was "the cradle of civilization"...I find that rather funny.

This past Thursday Sylvia Browne was on Coast to Coast with George. Did anyone else catch the show? During the three hours she was on she talked about some past predictions and future ones. One of the predictions she made was on Atlantis - she feels Atlantis will rise in about 20 yrs from now. [Shock] Along with the wonder and shock of this happening the rise will also cause a tsunamis. Sylvia made a few other interesting comments/predictions. I taped the show so if anyone is intersted I can recap a few of the (very interesting) things she said and predicted on a post? Let me know.
