Has anyone been to a psychic to have your palms read or other reading?

If so, did any of the predictions come true?

I did this as a teenager with a friend of mine. We went to a psychic just for fun and to see what she would say. The only thing she accurately picked up on with me was that I was involved in a relationship with a boy my parents didn't approve of -- I never put much stock in it. How many teenage girls get involved with young men their parents don't like? Nearly ALL of them! [Laughing]
I'm confident there are fantastic psychics out there. I also think a lot of them don't make a living from their gift. I would love to have a good reading done some day, but I've never heard of anyone in my area that wasn't a phony.

I've never been to a pyschic myself or ever met one, but it seems like there are quite a number of these businesses around and I guess some of them do pretty well.

I've never been to one either but I would love to trust someone enough right now to do a reading for me! Considering the past year and the changes that are coming, it would be very interesting indeed!

I always wanted to do this, but I wish the untrustworthy ones wouldn't ruin it for the rest of us. Always felt like I would need to have throw away money to do it. [Sigh]

I've never been myself, although Sara Freder keeps sending my emails explaining the "visions" she has about me. I might believe her if my buddy didn't get the exact same emails only in place of my name it has hers [Roll Eyes] My mother, however did visit a psychic once when I was about 11. Being 11 I was incredibly nosy and the second she got home I questioned her in depth about what this woman had told her. Apparently the psychic explained that soon my mother was going to meet a man with the initals R.R. and that was going to be her husband and her life would improve very much when she was with him. A few months later she met Bob (Robert) and his last name does begin with an R and my mother went from being a single mother of 2 kids barely getting by to being married and wanting for nothing.

Hello,
Has anyone ever heard of the great renowned Psyhic, Sylvia Browne? I recommend you read her books, or better yet, catch her on the Montel Williams show every Tuesday. She is REAL. She is the most amazing person I have ever seen with this gift. You will know what I am saying after you see her in action, and read some of her books.

Sylvia Browne is amazing. I have read several of her books and enjoy listening to her audio tapes on Tools for Life. The tapes are very soothing and informative. I highly recommend them. I will apologize in advance for the long post but I have much to share.

I have had several experiences with psychics over the years. Dating back to when I was a young child (7 or 8). I was plagued with nightly nightmares of spiders that went on for months on end. My folks had me at the doc's a few times (they tell me) but with no luck. While visitng my grandmother (in another province) she suggested a lady that did wax pourings (readings)who many believed to also be a healer. I was scared to death. [Eek!] She was very old and I remember the farm house had many crosses and little statues. She did a wax pouring three times which included prayers and a reading of which she relayed to my Mom. Not sure how it worked but it did. To this day not a single spider dream.
When I was a teen we found a woman here that did wax pourings and readings. I was very amazed by her abilities. Very little if anything was said by myself or my Mom (I didn't speak the language so Mom interpreted) during the pourings and readings. I was very skeptic at first (she knew it and stated we can't do this if I am going to be negative about it). When she spoke of a terrible situation that happened to me as a child, which there was no way possible she could have known, my skeptisism soon vanished. Many of things she spoke of from the past were accurate and most of that she spoke of for the future came to be. Including that I would be in danger in the coming months, that I would be stalked by two men. I worked at a local dept store (16 at the time) and sure enough a few months later I started to notice the same two men in the store often. As time went on their presence increased including being outstide in the parking lot after the mall had closed watching me leave. We ended up involving the police and they got them before any physical harm to me was done (although it took an emotional toll).
I have only been to 3 others which I paid for the visit. I feel most out there are fishers and read you by asking leading questions (one that I saw was like that and I knew in the first minute it was a farse). I felt a pull to the other two ladies I have seen (that did readings for a living)and both times they asked me to say nothing until the reading was complete and then I could ask a couple of questions. They were very good. It was years apart between each visit - I still have both tapes - quite interesting how similar they are. Both times past, present and future were all discussed. Not 100% accurate, however a lot was. The last lady I saw read my palm, cards and by seeing the colors of my aura pin pointed to a tee my health problems now, past and coming (which has happened). I was told in past by the first two ladies that I would have two sons and a daughter. I have two sons. This last lady I saw stated you have two sons and there is a little baby girl on your left shoulder - she is your lost daughter who is with you always. I cried inside at that for I did have a miscarriage between the birth of my boys. She spoke of things with my personal situation that was not your average daily things but very personal and accurate along with some information about my job and other family members now and coming. Several of things mentioned came to be but not all (at least not yet). Again I sat quiet during the reading and outside of when she was looking at me initally her eyes were focused on my palm followed by the cards so not like she was watching for hints. I actually do my best to remain straight faced and provide no reaction during a reading (except when she mentioned the little girl).

Finally I have on three seperate occassions spent time with a lady from Belgium while she was here visiting her family (she is realted to my sister's sister-in-law - whew). She does not do this for a living, will never accept money or thanks in any way. She has an incredible gift. Very accurate and she tells you exactly what she sees be it good or bad. During the reading (once again I needed an interpreter as I do not speak French) she did not ask questions she simply spoke. Near the end she asks you to think of a a couple of questions you want answered but not to speak it. She reads the answer to you. Never asking what the questions were. It was pretty wild. I had an instant connection with this lady, it was like there were times I could feel what she was and visa verse.
I was told by each of these ladies (including when I was a child) that I have the ability to see as they do. When I was younger I had many things occur that were fortelling along with visits from those who have passed which frightened me, so as a result I believe I closed things off a bit. The lady from Belgium and the last one I went to see both told me that I have put a veil over my third eye and all I need to do is lift it? Sylvia's tapes have helped me relax more and open myself up again. I now trust and listen to my intuition much more and am happier for it. Things have continued to develop and I am not certain how far it will go.

Bottom line. Lots of quacks out there but there are those with wonderful gifts and if you can find one (usualy by word of mouth) I would suggest you give it a try. No one has all the answers and no one can see all that is coming however if they can provide little insights and some answers it can be helpful.
Sorry for the rambling on and on but hard to share only a little bit on this. Thanks for bearing with me. [Wink]

Wow, you weren't kidding about the post Cat [Eek!] [Big Grin]
I'd like to have met some of those old french ladies.

I've been to good and bad ones.

I had a palm reading done once. Wasn't told a single thing you couldn't get from noticing details about me (cold reading).

One told me I would end up marrying a blond woman soon. She saw my sister through the curtain of the booth she had set up. Sigh.

Some psychics are there to make a buck. Maybe they are psychic but they are abusing their ability.

Sylvia Browne??? Sylvia Browne??? I've heard that name somewhere before.... hmmm..... =) =)
=) Lori =)
You can't hang around boards of this kind without reading her name at least once a week.
She is a good person and psychic. I enjoy her books alot. Great attitude.

Like Cat said, there are many who make it seem that psychics are out to con people. Like the ones who tell you that you are cursed and for a fee they can get the curse removed. Chicken feet aren't free you know. Or are they???

Being sensitive myself I have no doubt that psychic abilities are without a doubt real. I've done some work with divination tools such as Tarot cards and have come up with astounding results.
If you're thinking about seeing one in your area check that person out first before you shell out some bucks. I've found that you can find reputable psychics if you seek them out and give it some time.
I've found some not so good ones by putting money down and coming back with next to nothing.
Trust your intuition. As soon as you walk in their presense they should inspire a feeling of confidence inside you. Disregard what they look like. Looks mean nothing. If you feel uneasy and have ill feelings at all take everything with a large grain of salt if you stay.

=) God bless all you psychics out there. Thanks for being so brave.

Hi everybody, I haven't posted in a while (life has kept me busy), but I had to put in my two cents on this topic. I am a Medium in training at my local Spiritualist church. Before I discovered my Mediumistic abilities I had a Tarot reading about 10 years ago with a local 'psychic'. Most of the things she told me weren't really what I'd consider specific. 'You hate your job', 'you don't have as much money as you'd like', ect. I was allowed to ask 3 questions. My last question was about how I felt compelled to help people in any way. How I'd love to be able to do what she does for a living because I could spend my days helping people heal and understand. She looked at my like I was a naive fool and told me that I was only psychic for me. I'd NEVER be able to read for anyone else. I should just trust that she could help me to make any difficult decisions. RIGHT! [Booty] After I started experiencing spontanious Mediumship I contacted Marion who is now my mentor. The first time I met her she told me the name of my great Uncle, described him, and then brought through 4 other relatives of mine. This was before I did anything besides tell her I thought I was going crazy. She is also a stickler about being specific and accurate. Before any of her students can read outside the circle they have to be able to give names (I'm getting an 'M' doesn't do it), and relationships. At the very least. She's a local celebrity around my area known for her accuracy and sense of humor when she's reading.
I learned from Marion that if you want to check out a psychic, ask her for references. If there are (many) people who are willing to vouch for someone you are better off. Also check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints against them. There are real psychics and Mediums out there, and they are more concerned with your needs than your money.
[Yep!] =) [Cool]

I see great things happening for you. Ah, yes, this line here, yes, this one right here, see it? It tells me that you will live a very long time...veeerry long time. Hmmm, now this line is interesting, It tells me that you have many past lives, that you are a very old soul. I see your future here and it tells me that you will be financially successful, many people will benefit from knowing you. You will meet your life partner in, let me see...... 6 months. Wait! I see trouble ahead for you....ah, yes, be very careful that you do not eat anything purple for I see that you will choke and die a very horrible death...yes, do not eat anything purple.

$10.00 please [Wink] [Laughing]

Seriously, you've all made the observation that some, if not most "psychic" folks out there are frauds...anyone can tell you anything you want to hear and charge an incredible amount for it, too! James Van Praagh is good but Sylvia is better. With her she gives her talent to God...which impresses me that 1.) she recognizes that and 2). is willing to tell you that it does...her "no bull about it" attitude lends to her credibility.
I've never done anything like this but am curious about it. I have a friend that passed several years ago and would love to see if he "came through" but I have a hard time with those so called "gallery readings" that you have to be put on a waiting list yea long and if you're lucky enough to get into the gallery, maybe ( or maybe not) you'll get a reading. I definately do not trust any reading done at a "fair" type setting....the whole thing smacks of fraud, in my opinion.

I have had two notable readings. The first was when I was a child, with me and my friend getting reading after our parents. The only thing I remember from that was that one of us would have 2 kids and the other 3 kids. Well for several years both of us had two childern. I had a tubular pregnancy and was told it would be near impossible to have more childern. Well, that didnt stop me, I did have one more child, who is now 8 years old.

The next reading was in 1994 in New Orleans, across from Jackson Square. A girl came up to me and my friends and asked if we wanted a reading for ten dollars. Well I went ahead and got a reading. She told me about the bad guy with the big black boots causing trouble (my boyfriend, during bad times) and that I would go into the medical profession (im now a medical assistant, since 1997) pretty much everthing she told me about came to pass or was already happening. I know there is alot of cons out there and agree with everyone says. Do your homework and go with your instincts. I do tarot cards, but I cannott read for myself most of the time
[Roll Eyes] so I need a psychic reading now and then.

I have dreams where I sometimes can "predict" what is going to happen, mostly though its to late to do anything, one time I woke up and went downstairs and told my mom that my great-grandmother had died and about 5 minutes later we got the phone call. Another time I had a dream that I was in a terrible car accident and about two hours later I was in an accident, it wasn't as bad as I had dreamed, but bad enough.

Hello again!
I just want to THank everyone on this message board for putting in such good input about Sylvia Browne, and also some of you mentioned James Van Praagh, who is also very unbelievable. Usually, when it comes to some of the Psychics on Television, I am a little skeptical I would have to say, but James won me over, because there is no way he can know the things that he tells people about their lost loved ones, and he is so loving with people, he makes you feel as if he has been a brother all your life or something, ...I just love James...Sylvia amazes me though, and the more time goes by, the more Sylvia seems to be able to know about all sorts of things. She had predicted that AL GOre would win the presidency on the last election, and yes, we all know that he really did if popular votes were counted, and not electorals. ANyway, I just believe in her more than ever and her spirit guide Francine, as well. You all take care, and have a Happy Easter,. Loribel
