Here is some of what has been reported on this case.
Pickton (52 at the time) was first arrested on weapons related charges. The trailer home he lived in was later searched. Evidence was found in the trailer during that search - articles like purses and inhalers and such - that lead to a search warrant of the property. The new search warrant was on the premise of the missing women case.
Pickton was a co-owner of the farm and property with his brother (who has not been charged or was a suspect). They had employees that worked on the farm over the years. The property is valued at 3 million dollars.
So far he faces charges of 22 counts of first degree murder and to date 31 women have been confirmed dead.

Remains have been found on the farm during the excavation which ended last Nov. Including body parts in the freezer in the trailer home. Those were apparently found a few months before the raid on the farm in Feb 2002 when the excavation of the property started. Most of the women went missing from the downtown eastside of Vanc known for it's sex and drug trade. The farm was well known to many residents of the east side for it's all night drinking and drug parties. The women that have gone missing have happened over a number of years and apparently during this time complaints were made to police about the farm by some of the family members of women who are still missing or among those identified. The police either did not act on it or found nothing when they did. It was even reported that 5 years before the raid that the RCMP knew of a prostitute that barely escaped from the trailer with vicious stab wounds.
A very disturbing case no matter how you look at it. To think that over a span of 20 years from when the first women started to go missing this maniac psycho started this horrific murder spree. We have heard reports at first that the number of missing was well over 100 that may be linked to this animal. They found meat grinders and chippers on the farm which it is believed were used to dispose of some of the bodies or to make the pieces small enough to bury easy. Now as you have read another way may have also been used to dispose of bodies - perhaps parts that were ground up were fed to the animals. It makes me sick and incredibly sad to think of this. To think there is such evil amongst us as this thing called Pickton.
I pray for the women that have been lost and for their families and friends. I cannot imagine what they have all gone through. The families will re live this nightmare over and over. May the souls of those departed rest in peace.
