OMGosh!! My mother just called me.... we have been going through some rough stuff in our family the last couple of years. She had to go to treatment for drinking last June, and now we are trying to help my uncle who is killing himself by drinking. My mom went to her group outpatient meeting... I think it was relapse prevention. Anyhow, she said there was a woman in class today that she had seen before but never talked to. (We had a huge explosion this morning with the family and everyone was very upset) At the end of the meeting the woman came up to my mother and said this.... "I don't normally do this, but.... you had a man standing behind you in class today. At first I didn't think much of it, but then I realized... the way he was looking at you, and listening to you. He was sending a feeling of proudness to you. I just thought I had to tell you." My mother said she almost hit the floor. Do you think this could have been my father?

I believe spirits come around to make sure their families are doing okay and to be there for them when their not. My boyfriend of 12 years died in April 2001, and Im sure he's with me some of the time. Just little things happen to let me know he's around, like when he first passed, for several months after the phone at work would ring, almost off the hook, but when my boss or I would answer, there would be no one there or just static. The lady who spoke to your mother was probably a medium.
Yes, I do believe that loved ones still appear and watch out for those they left behind. After my grandfather's death in 2000, my sister started getting visits from him in her dreams, on every birthday so far since then. I think he came to her that way to help her deal with loosing him for he was more like a father to us then a grandfather.
I've heard of the phone thing happening. A medium once told my mother that the reason the tv of hers kept having a static or blinking off sometimes was that her brother was trying to get in contact with her.
