Hi All, Here is my ? it's sort of long so I'll start from the beginning. When I was about 5-6 yrs old I slept in the basement of an old house, at night we would turn off all the lights except the stair light after I'd lay down a "shadow" of a man (person) would walk to the doorway of my room and just stand there all night. If I woke early enough I could see the shadow walk towards the stairs and dissapear. It never came near me or gave me any reason to be afraid. I never told anyone not even my folks. 2 1/2 years ago my then 5 1/2 yr old son said to me he was afraid of the dark because of the shadow that would watch him. I told him about my shadow and he isn't so scared any more. Now the strange part, since then perhaps even before (i may not have paid much attention) we've had 2 regularly strange happenings. #1 Often outside our frontroom window a blond sometimes brunette woman walks quickly by, towards our front door. I'll go to see who's coming and no one is there. This happens durring the middle of the day. My husband has even seen her, this happens at least once a week- usually more. Now #2 last week my son and I were gone my daughter was in bed and my husband was in the chair across from the hall watching tv. Out of the corner of his eye he caught movement, turned his head and saw the shadow man duck down come through my sons doorway then stand fully up He said he was about 8-9 feet tall! Shadow man seemed to stop turn towards my husband and just stand there for what seemed like ever. My husband was shocked so he just sat there and stared back he almost had himself convinced that he was seeing things when our great dane stood up walked over sniffed shadow man wagged her tail and lightly barked. At this he turned and walked towards my daughters room, since you can't see it from where my husband was he got up to see where shadow man went and sure enough he was gone. Durring this time my husband never got the cold prickleys or any bad vibes. This isn't the first time we've seen shadowy outlines of people in our home but usually they are the type you see out of the corner of your eye. This is just the first time anyone has seen one for any length of time. We've never gotten a bad feeling from them and they don't bother us. Oh my husband said that he could see the shadow like it was from a real person starting in the middle of the floor where feet would be then along the carpet to the wall then up it. Don't know if that helps. I guess what I'm asking is can anyone tell me how to communicate with these"ghosts"? or does anyone think they might be gaurdian angels. I guess I'd really like some other peoples perspective on this. People who have maybe had the same type of things happen. So everyone please post back I would love to hear from you!! Celtic Frog

Sorr this was so long winded! JUst a few quick notes The house is new the land had been a farming field for well ever. Nothing odd about land or house. Must be us occupants!

Very interesting! I've never had an experience like that, although I know that other people on the board have had similar. So I don't know how much I am going to be able to help.

I am curious though, when you yourself were younger and had these visitations, did they just stop at one point? Or had you become so accustomed to them that you just didn't notice anymore? The reason I'm asking is it sounds to me as if maybe whatever this shadow person is, has followed you or stuck with you.

It does seem as if it was protecting you then and now protecting your children. It doesn't seem, from what you've stated, that it's something to worry about though or fear. Especially if the your dog was wagging it's tail. Animals can definitely pick up on things and if something just wasn't right I'm sure the dog would have gotten very protective and hostile toward it.

As far as the woman that you keep seeing. I have no idea what or who she could be. Just to check the obvious (which I'm sure you already have) how is the front of your house set up? Could she be someone maybe jogging or running by? Like I said, I'm sure that that is something you've already checked for or maybe thought of...just curious.

Definitely keep us updated if anything else happens. I know I haven't shed too much light on the subject for you, but there are plenty of other people on the board that can. =)

Hi, it is possible that it is your gaurdian angel or possibly spirit guide. The fact that the dog seems friendly to it, to me, shows its benevolent, for I believe that animal's and childern really pick up on things you cannot see.

I once was touched by a shadow ghost I was very pregnant and sound asleep. Its touch woke me out of a sound sleep, and I literally jumped out of my very low frame bed, big stomach and all. As I was jumping out of bed I saw the shadow ghost whoooosh into my closet, I saw it had long hair {male or female??} As it went from my bed to the closet it seemed to shrink and then it was gone. I screamed for my daughter who was still up in the living room, yelling there's someone in my room. I had the bathroom light on so thats how I saw the form. As my daughter came in she turned on the lights and there was no one there. I told her what happened and she said right before I screamed the dogs and cat started acting weird. The dogs were growling and they were acting strange, then I screamed. Now in this case, the fact that I felt it touch me and it woke me out of a sound sleep, terrified and the animals were acting strange I feel it may have been manevolent. Not sure though. I've had strange things happen to me throughout my life.

I still think though that your spirit is a good one just because it doesnt scare anyone and the dog seems completely okay with it.

The female you keep seeing, my its a residue haunting. You say you always see her walking past your window towards your door??? I would maybe look into that possibilty.. fascinating though. You should try to catch her on film..

That is an interesting story Celtic Frog. I have to agree it does sound benevolent and likely is the same shadow person that was with you when you were younger. Guardian angels do not usualy show themselves in this way and from all the accounts I have read (in particular Sylvia Browne writings) they do not appear as often to us and prefer to take on a human form so not to frighten us in anyway. That would make me lean more to a spirit guide or even a family member that passed long ago. If the next dimension is only three feet above this one that could be why this person appears so tall. Have you tried to take a photo or capture a EVP? Leave a tape recorder running in the room you see the person most often in and ask questions. Perhaps while you sleep you may even capture something on the tape. Always surround yourself with the white light before you do.
You may also want to try using your dreams. Sometimes when I need an answer to something I will ask for the white light to surround and protect me and my family and our home (I do that every night actually) and I ask God to provide me with an answer or a sign or guidance etc. It may take a few nights but you may get some indication from a dream of who this could be. Worth a try.

As for the lady - not sure on that one. I think trying to capture a photo is a great idea and agree that a residual haunting is something worth looking into further.

Greenfaeriequeen - what an experience you had, yikes. That would have been unnerving. Animals are excellent indicators they see and hear much that we do not. Glad it was only a one time visit.

About the woman you keep seeing... I've had some experiences that are a bit similar to that, only in my case I don't see the person, I just her "it" opening the front door and entering the apartment. It's not something that happens on a regular basis, though, it can happen 5-6 times during one night and then be gone for two-three years! And it sounds horribly real, I get fooled every time! I was just a kid the first time, alone at home and taking a bath. Suddenly I heard someone come in through the front door, go into the kitchen, and start to open all the kitchen drawers and cupboards. I didn't think much of it at first, I just thought it was my mom. But turned out she hadn't come home then, the door was still locked and nothing was missing from the kitchen...

interesting shadow-story... I think you should count yourself as lucky, it seems like guardian spirit of some kind! Do you know of any special reason why you might have needed protection at the times you've seem him? Or does it seem to be an every-day sort of thing?

I wish I could see my guardian spirit that clearly... 'cause I think I have one, somewhere. At a difficult period in my life (last autumn) I suddenly started getting dreams in which a man/spirit was sent to protect me and keep me from doing the same mistakes over again...And after that I started to get very explicit hints and warnings in dreams of what I should and should not do. If it wasn't for those messages I probably wouldn't be able to graduate from high-school now, I would have been in too much of a mess...

So...Take care of you "shadaow", be happy you've got him!
