Okay, I have a question...I grew up in a house with a guardian of sorts. The problem is, we don't know who he is, where he came from, or what he was doing in our house,(besides helping out when needed). He has saved our skins more than once, but there was no reason for him to be there. He wasn't a past family member, and no deaths on the property. How do I find out who he is and why he picked us? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi ya!

Just a quick thought here ~ are there any antiques in the house? I have heard of spirits deciding to "stay" with some of their favorite belongings.

Have you seen him or just experienced his presence? I get an image of a man in his late 50s, not quite 6ft. tall, dark hair, with a close beard (meaning trimmed close to the face not bushy or long)....

I've actually seen him. And so has my dad. The description fits except the beard-at least he didn't have one when I saw him. I don't know about when he was alive though. There are several antiques in the house, so it may be a bit difficult to narrow it down to just one or two. We have everything from antique glassware to antique shotguns. Thanks for reading

Hi ya again....

Don't know if this will help you narrow it down...but I got the impression of a table -- either a kitchen or diningroom table.... fairly large and solid wood.

He seems -- well for a lack of a better word - "comfortable" with you. So I guess the question is - how do you feel having him around?

I have missed him for a couple of years now. And he is sorely missed. That was why I was sorta wondering who this guy was so I could try to contact him again. Another member suggested an EVP to see if he would answer but I haven't been able to do that yet. I'll keep looking though, 'cause I would REALLY like to contact him.

Hi ya PM!

It's strange that you say he's not around because I feel that he is still there. (mind you --- you would know - you're the one living there!).

If you encounter him again soon - let me know, I'm rather curious about him.

=) Me too! I'll try that EVP as soon as I get a reliable recorder. Digital cams, I have. Simple stuff like a cassette recorder, no. But keep your fingers crossed. Oh yeah, someone also suggested something not quite so technical, I think they called it a pendelum (pardon my spelling). Any thoughts on if this is something I might look into?

Using a pendulum is very easy and quick. The other thing about it is you can use "almost anything" as a pendulum. (For example a necklace with a pendant on it). It's usually very good for "yes" or "no" answers -- but you need to have very clear direct questions to ensure you are getting presice answers.

Hold the necklace so the pendant is hanging down (a couple of inches is fine) give it a slight swing so it swings back & forth (towards you & away from you) then hold your hand perfectly still and allow the pendent to continue to swing. It's best to "test" it so you know what you are getting for answers.

Simple test is ask it something you know that the answer is a "yes" answer - Like "Is my name......" Usually the pendulum will start to change direction from a back & forth motion to a circular one (for a "yes" answer).

Just to be safe, you should test it for a "no" answer as well. Typically "No" should swing left & right.

I will mention that testing first is important as every so often someone seems to have the "reverse" for answers (my mom is one of these people her yes answers go left to right and her no answers are circular).

As I said, you can use anything a piece of string with a washer, thread & a needle, anything that will give you a length and an indicator on the bottom.

Try it and see what you come up with!

PM -

One other thing I will mention, if you (or anyone on the board) want detailled directions on how to pendulum, feel free to ask - I have them in an electronic format so it would be easy to "cut & paste" them into a private message or e-mail.

The info is about 5 pages in length (which is why I haven't posted it here).
