This tale I'm about to relate occured back in November of 1980. It's not going to be the most bizarre or scariest story you'll ever read, but even though it's been almost 24 years since my experience I still wonder from time to time whether or not it was an actual OBE, strange dream, or just an amazing coincidence.

I live here in NYC and I had a friend who was sufferring from Breat Cancer. Towards the end of her life she moved to Florida to be with her family.

My other friends and myself would always talk about how one day we should just hop on a plane and fly down to Florida to visit "J"......I'm sorry to say that this was something we never did.

While we never got to see her again after she moved down South we were in constant contact with "J" on the phone. We would talk to her several times a week from the Bar where we all hung out.

One partictular night I went to bed and my OBE/Dream/Coincidence took place. (To make it easy I'm just going to refer to it as a dream.)

Sometime during the late hours of Sunday night or the early hours of Monday morning I dreamed I was in Florida and I walked into the hospital where "J" was. When I walked into her room I found her laying in her bed dead. Not only was she dead but she was laying there flat like a macbre balloon than had all the air released.......

I went hysterical and started running around the room in a frenzied state screaming for help. I was screaming for somebody to come help "J" because she had a seizure (a word I never heard of in my life) and died.

In my dream I was knocking over chairs, tables, IV racks, and pictures off the walls.

I then heard a type of "hissing" noise. When I looked down at "J" I noticed an oxygen tube laying across her chest......SIDE NOTE: At the time I knew she was on oxygen to help her breathe but I just thought she was using a tube and not in any sort of oxygen tent.......I reached down and put the tube in her mouth.

She actually started to inflate after I inserted the tube! "J" than sat up and said to me "Thank You for saving my life". She then kissed me on the cheek. That kiss was so warm and real that it jarred me awake!

To say the least I was vey shaken by this dream. It took me all week to get over it and I pretty much shook it off by the time Friday rolled around.

That Friday when I was in the Bar where we all hung out we talked to "J" on the phone as usual. When we hung up I remarked to a friend how strong "J" sounded on the phone.

My friend agreed and thought it was amazing considering what took place earlier in the week. Something happened and she wasn't sure she wanted to tell because she thought it would upset me.

When I pressed her to go on further this is what she related:

She was talking to "J's" sister on the phone earlier in the week and sometime during the late hours of Sunday night or the early hours of Monday morning an incident took place.

According to the doctors at the hospital "J" was in her oxygen tent and got all claustrophobic. She tore out her IV's and clawed her way out of the tent.

She began to run around the room in a frenzied state. In her state she pretty much trashed the room. Tables, chairs, pictures on the wall and an IV rack were knocked over or smashed. "J" had a seizure and collapsed on the floor. She went into cardiac arrest and actually was dead for a few moments before the doctors were able to revive her.

When I heard that my blood froze.

I don't think that this was any sort of earth shatering experience but I wonder what are the odds that I would have such a strange dream of such a strange occurence at pretty much the same time the events took place?

Thank You for taking the time to read this long thread!

Peace!

Wow...

Well, first I want to say that I don't believe in conincidence, so I can't imagine this being a coincidence...or a dream for that matter.

Sounds very much like an OBE -- especially since "J" was someone you wanted to go and visit in your conscious mind. I think it was very timely that you went when she needed you most.

I had a somewhat similar experience just over a year ago & the one thing I noticed is that time doesn't fade the memory of the experience...but regular dreams tend to fade relatively quickly(at least in my own experience ~ I can hardly remember dreams when I wake from them!)

The fact that this happened to you over 20 years ago and yet it is still "fresh" in your mind also makes me think it was an OBE.

A very powerful experience! Thank you for sharing it!

Ditto on the Wow HB. Gene that was an incredible experience and I also feel that it was an OBE and not a dream - I agree with HB's comments. I am not a believer in coincidence either. I also agree with you HB that many regular dreams can fade easily.

I dream often, almost nightly and do recall most of them. I dream in color, some are short while others seem like mini movies and even carry on if I awake in the night when I fall asleep again. I have been keeping a dream journal lately and have found my recollection in remembering details is improving. It is true that it helps you understand some dreams better as you can look back and see little hints and patterns. I have even found the meaning behind some really strange dreams when days later something will happen that makes me think back to that dream.

Thanks for sharing that Gene.

What I know about OBE's would fit on the head of a pin -- without crowding any of the angels already standing there [Wink] . I do know about "psychic attunement" though, i.e., being so in tune with someone that you know what they are thinking or doing regardless of whether or not they are actually in your presence or even nearby.

It's possible that you were wanting to be with your friend "J" so badly that you "tuned in" to her and actually shared her experiences -- easier to do when you are sleeping and your defenses are down.
