For more information on my friend Bob (who's recovering nicely now, by the way), read this thread[/URL].

I don't really know how to explain this experience, much less describe it for the subject of this post, but I have to wonder if my friend, who was in ICU and near death at the time, may have either paid me a visit in spirit, or had drawn some of my energy in order to survive his ordeal.

Anyway, this happened one night near the end of March, possibly the same night I posted the above thread, after my friend developed a colon infection after having weight loss surgery. After having surgery to identify the infection, he had an emergency colostomy, which they had to attempt several times because his vitals became unstable and he nearly died (I didn't know this until the next day).

Anyway, on the night of the colostomy, I was making dinner, when I had this odd feeling come over me. It felt similar to the disoriented or draining sensation I sometimes feel when I'm in a haunted location. It sort of caught me off guard, since I never had that sensation at home before. My thoughts turned to Bob and I said a prayer for him. The feeling continued, on and off, for a while that evening. I felt it again a couple days later briefly, and as soon as I felt it, I said another prayer for Bob (at this point he was in recovery but still in a coma).

So, what I'm wondering is, what might have triggered this sensation. In the past I've only felt it in haunted places, so I feel it when a spirit is nearby. So maybe Bob, while under surgery, dropped by to see how I was doing. Or maybe he was having a NDE at the time. Or, because I felt drained during the experience, maybe he was drawing some of my energy in order to give him extra strength he needed to pull through. It makes me wonder if he experienced anything during this time.

Has anyone else, especially the more psychic amongst you, ever experienced anything like this?

Kevin, my friend, all I can say is that prayer does work!

I think it is entirely possible that If Bob was having an NDE, at least a fraction of his spirit may have visited you, especially given that at that moment you were thinking of him.

I'm also a firm believer in angels, or some form of higher energy that come to us in dark moments. I've encountered this type of presence myself first hand and I don't think anyone could convince me these beings do not exist. Maybe one was there to give you comfort as well as pulling some strings for Bob and helping him with his recovery?

The power of prayer and positive thoughts can do wonders!

Hi Kevin!
Perhaps it was't him coming over and "draining" energy from you, but rather you sending energy to him. Even if you didn't consciously think of it you were probably connected with him during that time, especially if you were praying for him.

I have had a somewhat similar experience, only with a few differences. There was this person, whom I didn't really know, but I knew had been injured. Before I went to bed, I sat down for a while and prayed for her, since I knew she was in surgery. I consciously said to her and to whatever power was listening that I wanted to give her some of my energy. And I felt some sort of connection beeing established between us, and just as you felt, it was like being drained for energy. So I went to bed and fell asleep. Unfortunatly, this case didn't end as well as yours. I woke up around 4 a.m with the sudden sensation of being separated from her, and I immediatley knew she was gone. And in fact, she had died at 4 a.m after a whole night of difficult surgery.

Hi Kevin!

I have to agree with both Carrie and Wilhelmina. Although I am leaning more towards the possibility that he was having a NDE. I think that it's very possible that Bob's spirit, or as Carrie said, a fraction of his spirit was paying you a visit and perhaps because you had said a prayer for him while having that feeling, he drew some of that energy from you. Considering that his vitals were so unstable and that he nearly died, this makes the most sense to me on that occasion.

As far as the sensation you felt while Bob was recovering but in a coma...maybe he needed to draw some more of that energy from you to help with the recovery. I don't think anyone really knows what being in a coma does to the spirit. Maybe at that paticular time (that you had the feeling) Bob was having an OBE. Just a thought.

Wilhelmina, it sounds like you definitely made a connection with this person. I'm sorry to hear that things didn't work out and that she didn't make it, but it sounds like she hung on as long as she could.

I agree Carrie...the power of prayer and positive thinking can do wonders. I think they are both very underestimated yet simple things that can be done to help those in need.
