Of the countless UFO sightings reported all over the world many have been found to be hoaxes while others remain unexplained.

I heard a little something recently about the Mexico area (I think it was mentioned on C to C during opening comments). However the ol fog machine is running overtime. I have not tuned in to the News much (too depressing) so if it was on I missed it or just didn't pay attention. Refresh my memory please on this one.

Sidebar:

A little comment on UFO's - my personal opinion is that given the vastness of this Universe and what is beyond (much we have no or little info on) how can we possibly think we are all that exist. Earth is not even a itty bitty blip on the universal map. Really now, the human race has not even advanced enough to know how to live together (or how to preserve this planet). But we want to believe that we are intelligent enough to know or state - this is it no other life out there?

Although I remain with a very open mind I also view info and reports with caution just due to the sheer number of sightings that have been proven hoaxes. I can't wait for the day when undisputable proof is revealed (I'll bet the Gov't already has it).

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - The Mexican Air Force has released footage of what a UFO expert said were 11 invisible unidentified flying objects picked up by an infrared camera as they whizzed around a surveillance plane.

A long-time believer in flying saucers, journalist Jaime Maussan told a news conference on Tuesday the objects were real and seemed "intelligent" after they at one point changed direction and surrounded the plane chasing them.

"They were invisible to the eye but they were there, there is no doubt about it. They had mass, they had energy and they were moving about," he said, after showing a 15-minute video he said the Defense Ministry gave him permission to publicize.

The ministry confirmed to Reuters it had provided the video, filmed by the Air Force on March 5 over the eastern coastal state of Campeche.

"We are not alone! This is so weird," one of the pilots can be heard yelling, after the plane's crew switched on an infrared camera to track the objects, first picked up by radar.

The film, recorded by a plane looking for drugs trafficking near the Gulf of Mexico, shows 11 objects as blobs of light that hover in formation or dart about, sometimes disappearing into cloud.

Mexico's most popular nightly news broadcast showed the video on Monday night.

Interviewed by Mausson on another section of the video, the pilots said they grew nervous when the objects, still invisible, turned back during a chase and surrounded the plane.

"There was a moment when ... the screens showed they were behind us, to the left and in front of us. It was at that point that I felt a bit tense," said Maj. Magdaleno Castanon.

Mexico has a long history of fanciful UFO sightings, most of which are dismissed by scientists as space debris, missiles, weather balloons, natural weather phenomena or hoaxes.

Thanks - checked out the USA today site and watched the video clip. Geez the week I opt to tune out of the news on the boob tube I miss something pretty cool.

After reading the article, some of the comments from experts etc. and watching the clip - I am inclined to believe this is not a hoax. What stands out most for me is the fact this has the backing of Mexico's Armed forces. I can't understand why they would want to create a hoax and put themselves on the world stage like that. Certainly they would know this would be scrutinized and fully investigated. Imagine how damaging it would be to their credibilty if found to be a hoax.

Will be interesting to see what follow-up information is provided on this one.

I have not read all the follow stories either.

Even if they were lightning balls ( I agree Kell I'm not really convinced they were either) what about the 11 objects and the pilots saying we are not alone here and feeling of being surrounded etc.? Sometimes I think when certain situations happen that are closer to the truth then they want the public to believe the ol weather or space debris comes up. Maybe this is one of them? Time will tell I guess. That is if we get the straight goods.
