This is something that has been puzzling me for a while. My house is not haunted, but I do feel that some of my belongings, especially some antiques, do have some energy attached to them.

When my mother passed away, I inherited her collection of ruby glass; dark red glassware. Mom had several really nice pieces, along with some less expensive ones. I display some of the glassware in a china cabinet in my kitchen.
For some time now, there has been one particular piece, a small basket, that I find moved around on the shelf. I attributed it to vibrations and settling of the house, but when I really started looking at it, there is no reason it should be moving and the other pieces not. Other pieces are just as small and lightweight as the basket.

This has me stumped. I've pushed it back to its place on the shelf several times because it was on the brink of falling off. It just seems to me that if this was caused by vibration, that some of the other pieces would be moving around too. Maybe I have something connected to that little glass basket?

Any chance that it was your mom's favorite?

My impression is that she's trying to let you know she's with you ~ have you tried acknowledging her when you move the basket back to a safer place on the shelf? Something like "love you mom & I know you're watching over us"

Just a thought.

HB, I would have thought the same thing. However, this started happening even before Mom passed away. (She lived with us for about a year until her passing.) Mom was fond of her collection, but this wasn't really her favorite. I'm wondering if maybe a previous owner may still be attached to the piece. I check the position every once in a while, and it is usually in the same place. I would say this happens at least once a month. It will be fine in the evening, and when I get up, it is teetering on the brink. I may move it to another position and see if that makes a difference. It has been a bit of a mystery at our house.

I have herad numerous times that one has to be careful buying antiques because you may be bringing home more than just the item!

So I would think it is just as easy for a spirit to be attached to a piece of glassware as it would be to furniture (or anything else)

Perhaps its previous owner thinks it should be "shown off" rather than having to share shelf space. If you do move it, I'd be interested to know if it continues to move.

Carrie I think moving the basket to another location is a good idea. Then you will know if vibrations are the culprit or not.

Pick a location that does not have an easy slide surface and is a wide shelf so you can place it further back. It would be good if you had a place that had another ledge that is wider and just below the one it's on so you can place a towel there to catch it if it does fall, that way it won't break.

I would also put a glass piece equal in size and weight in the exact spot the basket is now. If that piece stays put and the basket slides to the edge again in it's new location, well then I would say you have a tag along there.

Do keep us posted.
