Well, I have had alot of things happen at my old house that are not so explainable. As I said before I have many stories to share and here is one of them. It started back in 1967. My stepdad moved from IN to WI. He and his wife bought a house, it was a model home and no one had lived there. In 1977 his wife died of cancer and he lived there with my step sister till my mom and I moved there in 1991. Nothing weird had ever happend till he died 4 years ago.... and thats when the stories start. I was recently divorced and moved back home to help out with him during his last few months of battling cancer. I had moved there with my 3 year old son and remodled the basement into an apartment for us. He loved his grandson like you wouldnt believe. Every morning they would have breakfast and then watch cartoons and play together. That was his sidekick as I was my grandpa's. When he pasted away, that's when things around the house started happening, alot started happening. I met my current wife about 2 months after he passed away. She had a 1 month old child and never met my dad. Well, after dating awhile, she moved in and some things happened to her, but I dismissed them as an over active imagination. Once things started happening to myself, my mom and even the dog, thats when we couldnt pass it off any more and I became a FIRM believer! Like I said before, I have many stories I look forward to sharing and even pictures, yes pictures that I myself took and have absoluty no explaination for.

Well, asfar as it goes, here is one of the stories...
I am real anal about my stereo. My wife and my children all know that they dont touch dad's stereo. After work one Tuesday, I came home and hit the power on and noticed it didnt sound right so I looked at the EQ and noticed they were all reset and not at the settings I ALWAYS have them set at. They were all moved up instead of their normal "wave" setting. So I asked my wife and she swore she never touched them and my 3 year old (oldest at the time) couldnt reach them. So I reset them and it was no biggie. That night we went to watch a movie and once again they were reset. Again everyone clains they never touched it. SO once again, I reset it and went about our movie. During the movie the system kept shutting off then back on. I replaced all the batteries and even went so far as to put the remotes in a different room. Well, once I spent time with my handy dandy Fluke multimeter and tore apart my reciever to check all the power and boards and still couldnt find anything, I put it all back together and went about the movie. Again it did it! Well, this happened for awhile(weeks) until one day we had some friends over shooting pool and we told them about it. They laughed and basicly said "yeah right". Well, needless to say, it shut on and off basicly on cue for the next 10 minutes. My friend Pat who was over has been one of my best friends for years. He knew my dad well. So Pat said "ok Del, we know your here" and that was the last time that it happened. I still had a hard time thinking it was him, but then more happened. I will post more when I have more time to type.

Later all....

Welcome to SpiritKeep Jay!

It seems to me like someone is there, playing with your stereo. Since you're handy with electronics maybe you could try getting a EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon), or snapping some pics. Do you have a tape deck or other recording device on your stereo? Plug a mic into it, maybe you can get your dad to talk to you, especially since he seems to like your stereo anyway.

What kind of receiver is it? Does the equalizer consist of mechanical sliders, or is it controlled electronically (via remote)? Does it turn on/off via remote? Infrared interference (neighbor has same receiver and his window points toward yours, so his remote is turning off your stereo, perhaps), or electrical noise, could cause some of the malfunctions you report, though it wouldn't move physical sliders!

Do you ever have any odd feelings in the room, such as a disoriented sensation, a feeling of someone watching you, or feel any cold spots?

I too am a stereo/home theater nut. We'll have to chat somewhere (I help run a home theater site with a message board, maybe I can get you to join up on there!) =)

Actually, the power is on the remote, but the Yamaha EQ has manual sliders, that was the weird part of it and the Yamaha reciever was in the basement. Trust me, I thought of every possiable thing and tried every possiable thing I could to explain or reinact what was going on, I even tried to get my son to figure out a way to get to the EQ, just to see if he could. Many more "things" have happend to us all. That was just the icing on the cake. One small thing to...I added duct work to the basement and the temp never got over 64 degrees.... even when I had the fireplace going. I found that kinda strange but never really dove into that situation. I never thought to do a EVP before we moved to AZ, but I do have pics I will have to post. Some that have images in them and some that help me explain some of the situations better.

Hi Jay, Nice to meet you.

I have to agree it does sound like you have someone there with you or at least dropping in from time to time. With all this starting after your Dad passed (sorry for your loss) and hearing how much he adored his family it sure seems that this is his him letting you know he is just fine and he is watching over all of you.

We have had numerous things happen with the electrical in our home along with our stereo equipment and tv's. Our TV in the basement has turned itself on numerous times, changed channels while watching it, volume turns up on it's own - with the remote sitting on the table in front of us. A few times in the early hours of the morning (always around the same time) we have been awaken by the tv and stereo being turned on and the volume getting increasingly louder. When we went down there we could see the volume numbers going up (remote sitting on the table). Even after we updatted the wiring things continued to happen with the tv and lights etc. Electrician was back to test things and all was fine. We even have this really old tv that barely works, has to be 30 yrs old, sitting in a corner downstairs (can't seem to part with it) that turned itself on -just static- while we were doing some painting downstairs. It has a pull button to turn it on.

Sorry didn't mean to babble on there about our happenings on your post. Just wanted to share that so when I say, I can relate, I truly can.

I look forward to seeing your pictures and hearing more about your experiences.

Cat =)
