My husband and I where on vaca in NH this past week and had the opportunity to spend a night at the Mt. Washington Hotel[/URL].

It's a beautiful old hotel that is right on the side of Mt. Washington. Of course as with any old building it has it's share of
haunted happenings[/URL] (scroll down to Twin Mt.)

Well, we definitely went prepared. With camera in hand we took pictures of every part of the hotel that we were able to visit. The hotel itself is so big that we couldn't have seen it all in just one day. We ended up not capturing anything on film...but did have a funny experience with the door to our room.

Now, I'm not saying that this was necessarily ghostly related, but I suppose it could be. [Wink] Everytime that we tried to enter our room the lock would put up a fight. My husband would end up standing there jiggling the key to no avail. When we first went to our room, in fact, we actually thought that we'd have to go back to the desk for another key. As we stood there though I thought to myself "Just let us in please." At that instant the key worked and in we went.

Now, I know that that could have been just a coincidence, especially with the building being so old. But it happened everytime...and everytime I would do the same thing and then the door would open.

At the end of the night, after I had whooped my hubbies butt at a few games of pool [Big Grin] , we were both tired and ready for bed and not in the mood to struggle with the door. As we walked up to the door I just said allowed "Look, just let us in please we're tired." After getting a sideways glance from the hubby he tried the door and that was the first time that it opened on our first try.

I would say that maybe our room was haunted, but I never really felt anything in the room. I suppose you never know though. What do you guys think?

It was definitely an awesome experience to stay in the hotel...and I'm hoping that we'll get the opportunity to do it again. It's pricey (which is why we only spent one night) but well worth the expense! =)

What!? You came to NH and didn't drop by to visit me!? [No]

I have a growing list of haunted places in NH. I don't recall seeing the Mt. Washington Hotel on the online lists I've read, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's haunted given its age and history.

Given your finicky lock situation, who knows. It could be a finicky lock... or a prankster ghost!

We'll have to pay the place a visit next time we're up north... I wonder if I'd feel anything.

LOL Kevin! [Laughing] I actually completely forgot that you lived in NH until I read your post about the Country Tavern. I have to say...if we ever make it to that part of NH that is definitely one place that I have to check out.

I was going through some of my pictures from the Hotel last night, and I think I may have gotten something. Not sure though...I need to take another look before I post it.

If you ever plan to visit NH again, especially southern NH, drop me an email. Maybe we can get together and have dinner at the Country Tavern! [Laughing]

If you find anything in your pics, definitely post them. I wanna see! =)

Trin, just by coincidence, I saw an episode of the Travel Channel's Weird Travels last night that featured Mt. Washington. Gosh, what a gorgeous place, and a sad, but sweet love story!
I've never been to New Hampshire, but I might have to make it up there sometime. That looked like a really neat place to stay.
