I saw it Saturday.
You know I never expected him to end up with ghost aliens becoming heroes in the end.

[Yep!] [Wink] =P [Nutty]

Just kidding (as usual). I'd never tell anyone the end or any of the big details of a movie. Especially a Shyamalan movie.

I loved it. I went with several members of my family. Half loved it and half were dissappointed. Not me. I'm going to see it again and again.

Bryce Dallas Howard. WOW. What an actress. And she's gourgeous to boot. She's only 25 though. Sigh. =) [Sigh]

I've been wanting to see it, but just haven't had the chance. I love M. Night Shyamalan's movies, I think he is just amazing.

Bryce Dallas...hmmmm, I've never heard of her, but I sure like that name. We're kicking around baby names for Brianna's sister, LOL!

Aw, Nakis, 25 isn't too bad. Look at Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas; by that grin on that fella's face, I'd say things must be going pretty well! [Wink] [Laughing] =P

I was slightly shocked yesterday. I was looking for pictures of Bryce Dallas Howard and found out she's Ron Howard's daughter.
By looking at her I would have never figured out she is his daughter.

She's done theatre and is more or less just starting out in major roles in movies. Kirsten Dunst was supposed to play Ivy in The Village.
I'm a fan of Kirsten Dunst but I'm very glad she didn't take this role. Howard did the role perfectly. Her character is one of the reasons I like the movie so much.
Shyamalan knows how to pick actors for his movies. Everyone did such a fine job in this movie. William Hurt did the best job that I have seen from him in a long time.

Yeah! What does Michael Douglas have that I don't!!!!
Besides, money, good looks, fame, fortune, ...... [Booty] [Thud]

Took the kids to the drive-in tonight. We saw The Village and I, Robot. Honestly, I liked I, Robot much, much better. But in all fairness I'll have to watch The Village again when it comes out on video. I had an 8-year-old asking me 10 million questions while I was trying to watch it this time [Roll Eyes] Ahh but once his robot movie came on, total silence....well almost.

I did like the character of Ivy in The Village. Gee, too bad they all died at the end!

Just kidding??? [Laughing]

I still can't decide whether I liked the darn thing or not... perhaps that means I didn't like it?? I don't know, all I can say is that it wasn't at all what I expected. My friend and I along with the rest of the crowd left the theater with perplexed looks. Perhaps when it comes out of dvd I'll watch it again and can actually give an opinion. I do agree with you Candi Joaquin did look quite yummy. =)

I just saw it last weekend, and I have to say although I'm not highly impressed with Joaquin's looks (although, I have been told I have odd taste in men! hehehe), I was impressed with his acting. I liked the movie. I am impressed when a movie keeps me guessing. Not that I think I am that clever, but so many films are made easy to figure out so the masses will feel smart, be entertained easily with effects and things blowing up, and like the films. Good writing. I recommend it.

Hey SpiritKeep Peeps:

Just got back from Philly, and I'll have some more things to share with yall later. For now, I saw The Village when I was there. UGH...to say I was disappointed is an understatement. The story was okay... but it definitely wasn't worth the 8.00 to see it. The problem I have, is the way it was advertised...like it was going to be really spooky, something of a paranormal nature. Not! It could have just as well been a "made for tv movie of the week." If they had promoted it differently, maybe I wouldn't have felt so let down by it. Ron Howard's daughter did an excellent job of acting. Other than that...if I had more than 2 thumbs, I'd give it at least 3 thumbs down. [Pooper]

I can understand people being dissappointed in the movie.
I bought the disc and watched it. It was just as good if not better than before. The movie has such subtleties. When you watch the movie and look at the details, the dialogue, the sound, the images, the camera work, the acting, the plot,.. it's really an amazing movie. The plot is a study in the human character and psych. It's a love story. It's a dance.
I don't think M. Night Shyamalan failed at all. I just think what he did wasn't what a lot of people expected.
This is one of those movies that is set apart from most other movies and has a special place in my list of favorites.

Hi Nakis,

We went off topic a bit in the White Noise thread and chatted briefly on The Village. Your right in saying what he did wasn't what a lot of people were expecting. That was my disappointment with the movie. Based on the trailer ads I had a very different impression of what this movie would be and provide. I was hoping for the same chills and shocker ending that Sixth Sense gave or at least some of the suspense. I found it to be predicatable at times and that took part of the enjoyment away for me. I agree there was some very good acting in this movie and the plot did explore the human character and psych. It was a love story in more than one sense. Well even though it's not in my top fav list I will be picking up a PV copy to add to my collection. =)

I have to admit too that they played it up severely. Which confused the heck out of me. Is M. Knight Shyamalan a director dedicated to his craft? Or is he not above playing the genre fans and his fans for bigger bucks at the box office?
That Sci-fi thing realy played the movie into a direction that the movie failed miserably to deliver on. Why didn't they try to advertise the movie for more of what it was?
Still a big fan but what they did was a big put off.
