Has anyone experienced activity or other unexplained stuff such as sleep disturbance after bringing something home that you bought ?

Oh yeah!!! I am an antique lover, and I collect all kinds of stuff, so I have had this happen on occasion.

I bought a large antique mirror several years ago that made an odd popping sound -- but only in the homes that were haunted. The home I originally placed it in was my parent's, which was pretty active. When I married and my husband we first lived in this home, which is on his parent's property. The house does not seem to be haunted, and the noises stopped. After a few years, we moved to a house in a neighboring small town that had its share of activity. Once again, the popping noises started. After a few years, we moved back to the farmhouse on his parent's property and once again, the noises have ceased.

I've had visitor's who have claimed to have seen a man near an old jug that I brought home from Wales. I've also caught glimpses out of the corner of my eye of a woman in a large hat sitting on my 1850's era sofa. I've had strange dreams and odd vibes about other of the antiques I have in my home.

I love my old stuff and wouldn't part with it, however, I generally only buy things that "speak" to me in a positive way. I've gone into antique stores before and have almost gotten physically sick from what I guess could be termed "psychic overload". Be careful when you buy an antique or even something that has been pre-owned. If you don't get a good feeling from it, steer clear. Antique clothing is always the worst for me! Sometimes it doesn't hurt to even do a blessing over the object. Check out the post at the top of this section for more details.

You've got me curious now, I want to hear about the story!

I have recently moved to Indiana and we just bought a bed and headboard. It is a very comfortable bed but I have had trouble falling asleep everynight since we gotten it and our forks are disapearing. I wasnt having this problem before the bed. Im just wondering if there is something connected to the bed. It's just odd. I've also taken pics with no luck. Any ideas ?

Have you tried sitting down and having a conversation with the spirit?

I have an antique bed that has been passed down in my family. My nephew, when he was smaller, claimed to see an elderly woman laying on it. When I was keeping him, I would often hear him in there, speaking to "the old one" as he called her. Ironically, my great-grandmother passed away on that very bed. One day, I sat down by myself in our previous home and had a heart-to -heart, firm but kind talk with our ghosties.

Basically I told them (I think there was more than one) that I was acknowledging their presence, and their attachment to the house and furnishings; HOWEVER, I was the owner now. I didn't mind them hanging around as long as they behaved themselves and didn't scare my nephew. It did work. We still had a few incidents, mostly things other adults were seeing and hearing, but they never disturbed my nephew again.

You might try sitting on the bed and having a similar discussion in case something is indeed attached to the bed. Let them know that you acknowledge them, but they need to stop taking the silverware. Good luck, let us how it goes! Try to get some sleep!!

Does sound like there may be some energy or someone still attached to the bed. Antiques in particular have been known to have ghostly or spirit attachments. Carrie gave some good examples of that. [Eek!] The silverware antics sounds harmless however if you start to feel negative energy or bothersome things happening I would consider getting rid of the bed. Especially if you continue to have sleep problems. Carrie has some good advise you may want to try for now.

I have had activity around me for a long time so can't think off hand if I have ever felt that something I brought into the home directly caused some of it? Strange enough to say but after awhile it all just seems to blend. I have gotten rid of things though that I had picked up at a flea market which for whatever reason just didn't feel right to me after I got it home. Didn't even keep it long enough to see why it gave me that feeling.

I can also tell you that I have felt very strong sensations or emotions when I have put on clothing that was previously owned. In particular at vintage shops that sell/rent clothing from different eras (while looking for a halloween costume). I recall one time I had tried on this long dress from an earlier era and very quickly felt very odd almost not like myself. It was an overwhelming feeling, my head started to hurt and I felt heavy in the chest, uneasy, not at all positive. I promptly took it off and returned it to the rack. Once I walked away from it I started to feel as I did before putting it on.

Wow Thanks , I havent really had any other problems except for the missing silverware and not being able to fall asleep. In Texas , I had "Arnold" a spirit in my home for several years and there was ALOT more commotion than this. He was harmless , but a practical joker. Ill probably just tell it that I want the silverware back and it can stay as long as it plays nicely.. lol Thanks for all the advice and Stories atleast I know others have experienced this too..

Once... I bought at an antique store, a human skull with dried blood all over it and the wall paper started peeling, I started hearing blood curdling screams (mine), the bed kept floating to the ceiling,... at least I think I bought it from an antique store,... it had ANTI and the rest wasn't legible. [Nutty] [No] [Laughing]

We all spend close to a third of our life in our beds. And when you are ill you are in bed. Often when you are sick and dying you are in your bed. You should use lots of caution when you purchase a used bed. Like Carrie and Cat explained, use you senses to feel out the object first. I do the same thing. I too love antiques. Anything out of another time (save most 50's, 60's and 70's decor) fascinates me. Often the energy attached to the item is so intriging to explore. But I do come across objects that are repellant to be near (usually 50's, 60's and 70's decor [Laughing] ).
I go over anything I want to buy with a fine combing of psychic sensing.

So far so good. That's not to say I haven't picked up anything that didn't have anything attached to it. Just nothing bad so far. I've gotten rid of some stuff that just didn't feel right.

I've found that tuning into them and talking to them can go a long way to peaceful co-existance or helping them move along. The best thing is to help them move on of course. No one should be stuck around here when there is so much better to move on to. =)

Nakis [Laughing] You are cracking me up lately. [Big Grin]

Beckboo, that is so interesting!!! It sounds like whomever is attached to that bed is trying to get some attention, or at least a little recognition. I myself have never had an experience like that. Although I can't say that I own a lot of antiques. I do usually get a funny feeling in antique stores though. I was never sure what it was, I just don't really feel very comfortable in them (Although I do enjoy looking through them) Could be something paranormal.....or could just be the smell. [Wink] That musty smell gets me everytime.

Definitely keep us updated Beckboo!

Thanks Everyone. I told it that I understand that it was their bed , but I bought it and it's now mine. That it needs to move on or play nice. So last night It took a little while but I did sleep so maybe it understood. I hope. [Laughing]
