Hi, please don't think I am morbid but I wanted to share some neat pictures I took today. My husband and I went to a place near us called space farm and museum. I found two old hearses (the white one) is a childs hearse. They also had some old coffins, they said that they would display the bodies in these because ice was used in them to keep the bodies fresh. They would then, after the viewing remove the bodies and bury them in pine boxes. I hope I don't offend anyone by these pictures. I just thought that they were cool and wanted to share them with you =) . - - - - -

Well, geezz....NJ. I haven't been in NJ in years. My husband was just there last Friday. He drives a truck and had to make a delivery in Carneys Point...I think that is the name of the town. The bear in the last picture looks regal lying there...I like bears too. I am orginally from Western Maryland and we had black bear there. No bears here in the flat lands of Indiana where I live now. Unless you want to count some of the men that live here in town LOL [Yep!]

AHHHHH...How cute are those bears!!! The last one kinda looks like a guy that lives here in town, minus the flannel shirt LOL
The Cincinnati zoo has a great bear exhibit. I have only been there once. I am too chicken to drive in the traffic all by myself [Shock]

The Cincinnati zoo is big, I am sure not as big as some, but it is a really nice zoo. Their reptile exhibit is great. I had a little trouble looking at the snakes though....EWWWW ICK. Every year they have a exhibit called zoo babies, where they display all the babies born in the zoo.

Hi Kitchenwitch!

I loved those pics of the old hearse and the caskets! Not offensive at all! Nothing wrong with being curious about how things were in another time! Once, I saw a pic of a black cast iron casket from civil war times. When it was opened, the man in it was so well preserved it was unbelievable!! To me it's neither gross nor morbid, but truly fascinating! Thanks for the pics!

Barb, those pictures are great! I love the ones of the animals. The coffins and hearse are really unique and very interesting!

Candi, the pic. of the bear is awesome! Makes me want to give it a big kiss right on the nose. Although...I'd hate to see what would happen to me if I tried that. [Nutty]

Thanks for sharing ladies!

Wow! I love those pics! The coffins and hearse are amazing! I never understood why some people took offense to images related to death anyway. [Sigh] Cemeteries, graves, coffins, all that, have always fascinated me, to see how the living react to death and the dead. I feel so Gothic right now...I'd like to visit that museum sometime.

I am so glad that everyone likes these shots. I was a little worried that they might offend some people especially the childs hearse. I love this kind of stuff and don't want people to think I am weird. Enjoy everyone and Thanks again =) !

Cool pics, Barb. Any idea why the place is called "Space Farm?"

The bears are cute too. Looks like a tourist got a little too close to his cage in some of them though! [Laughing]

I agree with you Wicked_Replicant! I don't know why people take offense either, about things to do with the dead, and so on! I mean-we will ALL be there someday-why not explore the other side? It makes me feel good, just knowing that there IS another side! You know-maybe I am morbid also, because when I go to the cemetary and look at graves over 100 yrs.old, and try to imagine if they were excavated, I also try to imagine what they would look like, what their clothing would look like for the time period, how intact would the body be? That's sounds awful but CURIOSITY killed the cat! Maybe I am a cat!
