I'll start with a little background info. We have lived here for this home for about 9yrs. Not long after moving in I knew we were not alone. Having just moved from a house that was haunted with an elderly male ghost (lived there 6yrs) you can say we had become familiar with ghostly antics and paranormal goings on.

Along with cold spots, electrical occurences, feelings of being watched, hearing someone walk across the floor we have seen mists and shadows and had glimpses of two different ppl in the home. There is often unexplained banging both inside the house and coming from the garage. One time we heard a loud bang as if something had hit the basement telepost and upon investigation we found a chair from a little table and chair set that was a good 10 feet from the nearest post laying at the bottom of one. We were doing work on the basement and someone obviously wasn't happy about it.

We have never found the source of the noises in the garage. We have an automatic opener on the big door so it needs power to open it unless we disconnect with manual release on the inside. We have never found droppings that would indicate an animal nor have we found anything in mouse traps set. One day my son was home as the high school had inservice and he called me at work rather frantic. He could hear someone in the garage, it sounded like things were being moved about. He is not the bravest soul so he stayed inside with the door to the garage locked. I reached hubby who was closer to home than I and he quickly headed home. All doors were locked on his arrival and after a complete search he found nothing. There is not much in the garage so hard to hide no matter if it was a critter. He did find a couple of things on his small work shelf were moved to another part of the garage ,but he said likely he moved them himself and just forgot (I think he was trying to put our son at ease).

Fast forward to a few nights ago. For the past couple of weeks I have had this feeling to look in the garage before going to bed (door to garage is next to the kitchen beside the basement stairs). I did find one time that the main door was left open so good thing I checked. I made that my habit to check even if the inside door was already locked for the night. I open the door just enough to see the main door never needing to open if fully. This night I again went to do my check. I had the door barely ajar and had my head close to the door in peeking mode when the door was suddenly yanked wide open pulling it out of my grasp. Although it was dimly lit in the garage I clearly saw someone standing there. I screamed blue murder (husband said it sounded terrifying) and ran towards the bedroom where he was. In all the times I have had encounters in my life nothing has terrified me like this that I started sobbing at the same time. Hubby ran towards me as I ran screaming there is someone in the garage. He bolted to the garage and found nothing, all doors shut and locked (except the inside that was still wide open). He checked it over completely, nothing. After I calmed down we tried to duplicate the same thing with the door. Nothing would make it fling open like that. It won't even open slightly on it's own. All as been quiet with the garage and the door since. I won't do nightly checks anymore.

One thing to add after our cats came out of hiding (I scared the poor things to death) I noticed two of them walked to the kitchen doorway that leads to the porch with a hesitation type walk and hair on their neck up. They would not go past the kitchen entrance to the back porch. Now they do and they behave as usual.

I would really like to know who or what that was and why did they do that? Is there a message or just a ghostly antic?

Hi Cat. I would love nothing more and come to your house! I know you have read my post and it is easy for me to commuicate with spirits. Well, they do more with me and I with them. First off, I always watch my cat.He sees and can feel them before i do. Animals just have that sence. Secondly, I cant blame you for screaming i would have done the same thing! I wish i could tell you if this is a message or just a prank. Do you ever feel threatened when you feel or see them? Please keep us updated.

Oh WOW, Cat, I had goosebumps while reading your post. Have you tried taking a few pictures of the garage? Maybe put a tape recorder in the garage over night.
Keep us posted on everything.

Could you tell what the apparition looked like? Moonspirit has a good point, it couldn't hurt to see if you come up with anything. Whatever it is does sound like it wants to be noticed. Scary! I would have screamed too!

Wow, Cat, that's creepy! I would have been scared too, not because I saw a ghost, but because I would have thought I had a prowler in my garage!

Have you ever tried to find out the history of the place? Find out if anything happened there in the past? I second the suggestion of taking pictures or setting up a tape recorder. Better yet, set up a video camera if you have one.

Cats and dogs make great ghost detectors. I have three cats but no ghosts, but a friend of ours who lives in a haunted house says her cats often act like they see things that she can't see.

Ok, time to arrange a SpiritKeep field trip to Cat's house! [Big Grin]

I probably would have wet my pants if that happened to me Cat. My friend lives in a condo in Dallas and stuff used to happen all the time. TV, Microwave, lights would come on at all times of night and day. Her cat used to sit at the closet in her room and just stare in, she would get spooked, meow and run away with her tail all bushed out. A friend of hers came in and did a house cleansing, and I have not heard her mention any other happenings. Her friend who takes care of her cat when she travels, has a boyfriend who is a major jerk. (For one he is married, he has hit her etc) He will no longer go with her to feed Moira as after they had fed and watered the cat they took the litter and trash out. When they came back everything was spread all over the kitchen and the cat bowl was in the sink. He left and refused to ever go back in that house.

Thanks for your comments. I do want to do some pictures etc. however have been saving for a good digital (I think finaly have it all saved). I would like to get one with night vision so it has taken a little longer to save for. Have only tried a couple of times with a tape recorder (it's a cheapy) but nothing. We have dig cam (basic one) which I can try in the meantime. Any pointers on the best way to use it as to be honest I have not tried using it much at all so I'm still with the old school type of recorder knowledge? Turn it on point and click that's all I know. [Embarrassed]

Carrie it was a man and I saw a sleeve of a brown jacket that's all I can tell you as when the door flung I only got a glimpse before I bolted. My youngest son has come into my room late at night a couple of times claiming he saw a man standing in the corner of his bedroom staring at him. He described him to be in his 20's wearing an old brown jacket?

I have a medium booked who is apparently quite good but not till early Nov (she is booked till then). Not sure if I have to book a seperate reading for the house as the one booked is a one on one reading.

Greenwitch I would love nothing more than for you to come to my house. Kevin a field trip here with all of you from SK would be awesome. =)

We live outside the city limits and not far from a major river. Up the river a few miles is a large old fort that is now a tourist attraction. We are the second owners of the home which was built about 21 yrs ago or so. Most of the homes in this immediate area are about that age or newer. This area was all fields, farmland and bush before it started to be cleared for housing. We still have some original bush in the backyard area as do some neighbours. I feel whoever is here was likely linked to the land and what it may have been many many years ago (a settlement one time maybe)? We also think there is more than one here (I'll have to tell you why in another post so not to make this too long).

I've tried doing a little research on the net but nothing. I will have to go to the local library or an archives location I suppose.

Not long ago there was a time that he (I'll assume he did it) liked the tv downstairs changing the channels while you watched or turning on at all different times and cranking the volume. We had several times close together that at around 5-5:30 am the tv downstairs would go on and get louder and louder (woke us up) to the point it was full volume. No set pattern and remote in full view. He really liked the golf channel for awhile. [Nutty] A couple of times witnessed by more than one person at the same time we watched the dial turn on the stereo upstairs, volume going up. We have had an electrician check things out here (lights that kept dying, the electronics doing wacky things, even had to re-wire the same lights downstairs a couple of times) and he didn't have an answer.

The cats have been good indicators as well. They stare at and follow things we can't see. They suddenly race around like being chased. They make really strange noises when in the basement. Sometimes they stand at the top of the basement stairs staring and won't go down. My oldest sleeps downstairs (his domain) and has seen and felt many things. He now sleeps on the couch as he can't sleep in the bedroom we built down there for him. He feels watched all the time in there and knows he is not alone. Lots of noises come from that area when no one is down there.

Well I can tell much more but it would be a novel so I'll leave you with that extra info for now. Again thank-you all for your comments.

Well someone is trying to get our attention.

This past weekend (Sat)early in the morning (just before 5) the clock radio in the bedroom went off and very soon after the lamp on our night stand turned on. Being the weekend we did not have the alarm set and even if I had mistakenly clicked it on it is set for 6:45 a.m. and not 5 in the morning. That night I went out to a ball game with the guys - hubby was not up to going so he stayed home. He was downstairs watching TV in the dark (he thinks the pictures better that way) when over from the corner a loud ticking sound started which he said reminded him of an old granfather clock. It was coming from the direction where we have this old organ. It lasted for about 30 secs or so. When it stopped he flipped on the light and went to check it out (he was chicken to check while it was ticking). The old organ was not plugged in and he couldn't find anything that would make that kind of sound?

Intersting enough on the weekend we learned a little something about this area we live in. In the local paper there was a follow-up story about skeletal remains that were found on the riverbank just a few miles up stream from our neighbourhood back in June. The results of the forensic testing have revealed that the remains are 4,000 yrs old [Shock] A cpl of tid bits of wht they know so far: The femor bone was broken and was never re-set as it had knitted together so whoever this was had broken the leg before they died. This has resulted in one leg being about 2 inches shorter than the other. He/She was laying on their side in a fetal position. There was a picture along with the story.

A second news story a day later told of a fossilized sea monster that was discovered by a man walking in a cow pasture in a small town about 2 hrs from where we live. It is a giant plesiosaur fr 65 million yrs ago. The dig in underway and fr what has been completed so far they believe it to be about 25 feet long. The teeth are still sharp (15 molars have been recovered so far).

I was wanting to do some research of the area to see if there are any clues to who may be behind the activity in our house but man oh man I wasn't thinking cavemen! [No] I think I'll stick to the local archives and the recent history. [Big Grin]

Oh by the way went and picked up a digital camera (my b-day on Wed and hubby and my anniversary Fri so we went for it). Maybe I will luck out with some pics from here to share with you.

Happy Birthday Cat, and upcoming Anniversary too! Maybe your ghost wants to give you well wishes too!

As for your occurrences, I tend to think they're from a more recent time than 4,000 years ago, or 65 million years ago! =) Maybe you can find info on your house, especially if it's old, or if it's new, find out what was on the property before.

If I were your husband I'd be grabbing my video camera when that ticking started! [Laughing] Heck, I'd be carrying the thing around the house all day and night! But then that's me, the curious guy who doesn't live in a haunted house, perhaps if I did I'd feel differently. =)

Cat! Yikes! I just read your first post...and can I just say...if that happend to me I would have run the other way screaming myself!! In fact, I would have been running all over the house screaming. [Shock] That and the fact that your son has seen someone standing in the corner of his room [Thud]

It definitely seems as if someone wants to get your attention. I can't wait to hear if you discover anything about the house or the land.

How interesting that the remains that were found are that old! And then the sea monster?!?! You'll have to keep us updated as they get more info on that too.

Well, I hope that your having a wonderful Birthday! And of course I wish both you and your husband a Happy Anniversary and many more to come!

We plan to take the new camera and go on our first picture taking adventure at on older cemetary near-by this weekend. That will help us get some practice in so we can hopefully capture something here.

Green Witch, the one article was in our local community paper which only prints once a week so this weeks paper with the ancient bones story in it will not be posted on their site until next week as it's always a week behind (I'll check again for you next week). The sea monster story was in the City paper but you have to subscribe on-line to read the stories?? I will scan the articles and send them to Kell in an e-mail and see how or where we can post them so you can read them. Or if you prefer I can e-mail them to you? They are neat stories. =)
