Hi,
I am posting a picture of the attic steps..they are located right by the computer desk..I can actually reach over and touch them while sitting here. There could possibly be some orbs there...could also be dust. But the one on the cupboard past the doorway looks bright. I am also enclosing a picture taken standing in the doorway facing the dining room and living room. Any thoughts? Is it dust or orbs?

It's hard to tell if they're dust or real orbs. The best "real orb" shots are ones that show the orb moving.

Also, if you get a large number of orbs in a shot, it's more likely dust than the real thing. It looks like you got several orbs in your shots, which would lead me to think that at least some of them are dust. Unless you have several ghosties in your house that is!

Try taking some more shots and see if you get anything. Especially if you feel the cold spot, take a pic of the area immediately.

Another way to test for dust (I just thought of this one) is to shine a bright flashlight in the direction you'd be taking the picture, putting the lens of the flashlight where the flash of the camera would be. If you can see dust floating say within 6 inches of the flashlight, there's a possibility that the camera will pick up false orbs. Also if the flash is near the lens (say a built in flash, rather than an add-on) it's more likely to cause dust orbs.

It's difficult to tell what are "dust" orbs and what are the real things. I had no idea what dust orbs were until I started researching...I will do that little experiment with the flaslight soon. I took more pic's of the attic steps, when I felt the cold spots, going to be picking them up today.

I think it might be dust because they don't appear to have much depth and there are quite a few of them. They look like some of the things I've caught and people said they were dust, so I dunno. Keep trying and keep us posted!

I think maybe they are dust. I have a different picture taken of the steps when I felt the cold spot...there is a very small orb right at the top of the stairs. I will post that picture very soon.

Keep trying Moonspirit. Just because some shots don't show promise doesn't mean your house doesn't have mortally challenged residents. =)

Besides, your ghostie may not want to be photographed. Even if you ask nicely he may not coorporate.

Oh, and you just might be spirit-photographically challenged like me. I've never been able to get any kind of strange phenomena (besides family pictures ) on film. I've tried.

I agree they do seem like dust orbs. Looking forward to seeing the other stair picture you took where the cold spot is as well those you have yet to take. Keep trying and as Nakis has said just because you have not captured something on film does not mean something is not there. My bet is you will capture one.

I think I may have gotten one - hubby and I went on our first ghost hunt last night (it was fun and quite intersting). When I figure out how to upload into the computer (new camera) I will try and post a cpl pics. We also had a tape recorder with us. I wish I had a way to enhance the tape as there is a spot that you can hear whispering and it was recorded at the same time as when we took the pic that has something on it. I will tell more when I post later. Our ghosties have been quiet the last cpl days in the household so haven't had any pic opp's here yet but I have camera ready.

I can't wait to see your pictures Cat. Well, I have scanned the picture of the attic steps, there is something there, but I honestly think it is dust. So I have decided not to post it. Maybe my ghost friends are kicking up the dust to remind me to dust the house LOL Is there such a thing as ghostly dust bunnies?? :-)
I am going to keep on snapping pictures, one day perhaps I will get one on film. If not, that's ok, I am getting lots of pictures of the house, the animals, my husband and daughter.
I think it is really neat that us newbies are learning together. I think once we got our experience in ghost hunting we all would make one heck of an investigating team. :banana:
