Hey guys. I have a question. As you all know i see and deal with spirits all the time. But this weekend, i had a starnge encounter. I felt a very negtive enegry and suddenly saw what looked like a really tall thing in a trench coat. I was in the kitchen and just happened to glance at the floor when i got the bad enegry and i saw his coat, feet, body but i couldnt look at his face, cause i was really scared too. He has come around two times this weekend. My boyfriend even felt him, tho i saw him again. He also said he might be a "shadow spirit" Have you guys heard of this type of sprirt at all? Or maybe seen something like it? Just wondering. Thanks in advance =) Alicia

Yup, sure sounds a lot like shadow people to me. We see them quite often at our house as well. There's lots of information about them on the internet. Knowing what your dealing with always helps. Here's an article to get you started.....

I don't blame you for not wanting to look at the face. I'm not sure if this is a classic shadow person though as I always thought a shadow person was just that a shadow. The fact you could see the coat and feet etc. makes me think more of a ghostly/spirit visit. Cindy I haven't had a chance to read the link you provided - can shadow ppl be more than just a shadow image?

As hard as it may be to do Green Witch if this happens again try and look and see who this is as seeing the face may provide a clue to who or what this may be. It may just be a ghostly visitor that knows you can sense and see him and he wants to be noticed. The negative feeling you are getting maybe that whoever he (assume he) was when he was alive he was a negative or mean individual and so he is still projecting negative energy. I have often read that we carry our personalities over with us.

Do you communicate with the spirits you see?

Sorry Alicia, I have heard of them and similar beings but I don't know much about them except that on a great percentage peoples encounters with them are not pleasant or good.
You may want to do a cleansing of your place. I like to do one that only removes bad spirits and keeps them out. Don't want to remove good ones =) .

I've also been hearing more and more about shadow spirits. Oddly enough, several months ago, I encountered one in my kitchen. Now, as insane as this sounds, it is the truth: the one I saw was only the size of a small animal -- a puppy or kitten. I saw it straight on, and it even paused awhile before scurrying out of sight. I don't think the Orkin man would help me out on that one.

Seriously, there are more and more people talking about these things. Hubby is on a message board that has absolutely nothing to do with ghosts, but the folks there got on this topic, and a large number of the people had some sort of encounter like this.

I agree with Nakis, if you think this might be a nasty one, do a cleansing.

Cat, from what I've read people are reporting seeing these shadow people for longer periods of time now. Here's a small bit from that link I posted.

Only when there are times i am in close contact with them. To give you an expamle when one is in my home or friends they usally communicate with me. The ones i see like in bulidings, woods, cars (yes cars!) no i usally dont, maybe if i got out and came up to them maybe they or i would. What i saw scared the you know what out of me. It was like it was a real person, but like seeing him in black n white (but not white) He has come and gone since then and i am still to frightened (sp) to look at him. Cat does have a good point about looking at him in the face i just have to get the guts!-lol Nakis, thanks for the idea of a house cleanseing, i have only done one since i moved here to my new apt. Carrie, was the shadow person you saw was it like a person or a farie? Glad there are alot of people seeing them, i dont feel so werid about it now. Green Witch, mine was more of a shadow "thing". It scurried on the floor, but I watched it for several seconds. I would say that it might have been maybe 4-5 inches tall and about 7-8 inches in length. It was more like a little scurrying blob, which made me think it might have been an animal spirit.

That's interesting Carrie. I wonder if all animals have spirits, or just larger ones. I mean, do insects have spirits? Spiders? Amoeba? =) My gut feeling is they do, but smaller animals' spirits aren't powerful enough to manifest themselves in a way that we can sense.

As for the shadow spirits, those seem pretty creepy to me. Has anyone tried to get a picture of one?

Yep Ive seen them. I had one that lived in my home. Although he presented himself in many ways to me I mostly seen him as a shadow. I have a pic I will post here, it is a older pic when the paranormal was new to me . a friend and myself were sitting at the computer and I caught the pic in the computer screen. hope its ok to post it here. It is marked where you can see the shadow.

Thanks for the info Cindy sounds like there is more to these shadows then meets the eye. Good luck Green Witch with the smudging this weekend, I hope it works and this shadow departs for good. I have to say that I feel relieved. It had never occured to me that "shadow people" could be a widespread supernatural phenomena. I have seen strange "shadow people" and "shadow things" a couple of times and wondered if maybe I was going crazy. I'd love to learn more about this...*goes to search engines*

Yes, we also have seen them here in our house quite often, in fact, just a couple of days ago, my husband was sitting at the computer, and a shadow moved across in front of him, and then he began hearing sounds like people speaking in unintelligible whispers.
At first, he thought it was the dog on the couch behind him, but the dog was asleep and not making a sound at all. Things like this make you go "hmmmmmm"! LOL

The dark shadow person we see looks like a shadow form of the upper two-thirds of Abe Lincoln, without the details, of course, but it seems quite tall. We often sense him behind us, or see him out of the corner of our eye, going toward our hallway from the living room. We have alot of activity up and down the hall from time to time. But, this shadow person does show up quite regularly, every few weeks.

Hi! I guess I'm kinda late replying to this, but I just now read it...anyway, I have a question about the "shadow people..." I think I may have mentioned before that my sisters ex-husbands house is WAY haunted! There have been tons of things happen there over the years, but the most memorable (sp?)thing would have to be the night my nephew Kevin (in his late 20's at the time...) actually saw an aparition of a civil war soldier standing at the foot of his bed. He said it was like there was an outline of a soldier (he has always been a history/civil war buff, so he knows all about the uniforms, etc...) & he said it was like there were little lights all around it, the only thing missing was his face...he said it was just like a void there, no eyes, nothing, so my question is, could that have been a shadow person, even though the uniform was visible? To be honest, I had never heard of them before I read Alicias post, so I'm kinda clueless about what they are...Well, thats it I guess. Alicia, I hope whatever it was is gone now! I guess I would have a stroke right then & there if I ever saw anything like that!LOL And Carrie-my sister in Virginia thinks they have a "ghost cat" in their house. Apparantly all they ever see is like a "blob" as you called it, going up the stairs, or across the floor...their cat died a few years ago, she was like 17 yrs. old, so they think (hope) its her (Willie). So, maybe what you have is the spirit of an animal, which wouldn't be so bad...would it?..lol Take care y'all, Clarissa
