I had some errands to run in town today, and James requested I stop by his office with the baby. His office is in a semi-residential neighborhood, comprised primarily of affluent, older people. To get there, you must drive in front of several homes.

I parked and went in, visiting with him and his co-workers for about 30 minutes. On the way out, I had a really weird feeling not to go back the route I came in. Instead, I drove on a dirt road that is just a little out of the way. I have no explanation why I did this, something just told me to.

As it turns out, during that approximate time, a man shot and killed his entire family of four on the road I had inexplicably avoided. At least one person was shot on the driveway, not but a few feet off the road.

I guess this does make the case for listening to your instincts. [Sigh] I don't think I'll ever ignore that feeling again.

Update: This is a news story related to the homicide. I just don't understand how a human being could do this, especially to their own flesh and blood. I had seen the grandson, a young teenager riding his bike around the park a lot. He seemed like a good kid. Such a shame to have so many innocent lives taken by a mad man.

I can't tell you how many different faiths believe in following that voice in your head for doing this kind of stuff.
I'm glad you did. Good for you.

It is insane.

It was pretty strange. I had literally backed my car out to go back the way I came in, but something made me pull back into the parking place and go the opposite direction, which I had never done before.

After hearing what had happened, I knew that had I gone the other direction and seen something susupicious, there was a good chance I would have put my own life, or Brianna's, in jeopardy.

Like I said, I won't be ignoring that feeling again.

Strange, I guess your going to check for the instinct everytime you go out know arne't you.

I get feelings when bad things are going to happen that are linked to me (they can be trivial or major), I had a bad feeling on a morning 3 years ago, that evening I accidentally, while carving a model broke by blade and the force caused it to go over my thumb.

It went all the way to the bone (I lucked out and the broken blade actually ran alongside my tendon and for some reason didn't harm it.

Another time I had the feeling a few minutes before recieving a phonecall saying may great gran had died about a year and a half ago.

But other times its really is trivial, I had a bad feeling, logged into a mud game and me and most of my alliance had been attacked and beaten at the same time I had the bad feeling.

I haven't had another similar feeling for weeks though

Good for you Carrie in following your instincts. Your right there is a good chance you may have gone right into the path of harms way (what a horrible thought). Such a tragic thing that happened, those poor souls.

When I listen to my instinct it never leads me astray and on the flip side when I have ignored the instinct I have been sorry that I had. Sometimes the instinct says something that the mind goes nah can't be or it doesn't seem logical or your just being foolish only to find out that oops wrong should have listened to that little voice.

Stayed tuned in I say, so glad that you did. =)

Thanks guys. Yep, I'm glad I followed my inner voice, or whatever it was on that one. I've done little things like that before, but never anything that dramatic. I'm still just amazed at how close I came to being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Several years back, there had been a horrible shooting at a cafeteria in a small East Texas town. I was talking to a friend the other day whose husband often did business there and ate at the cafeteria. The day of the shooting, his daughter-in-law and small granddaughter met him for lunch and wanted to go someplace else, which they did, avoiding the horrible crime that followed.

Inner voice, psychic intuition, or a higher power at work... whatever it was, I'm glad it was there. =)

Interesting story. Although my "inner voice, psychic intuition, or higher power at work" hasn't saved my life in such a dramatic way yet that I can recall, it definitely played a part in finding and meeting my wife.

Ten years ago, I picked up one of those personal ad flyers you see in stores. As I was looking through it, one particular ad caught my eye. Nothing in particular about the ad itself was noteworthy, but something made me circle it. I circled, and responded to 4 ads, but I had a feeling about that particular one.

Sure enough, a week or two later, I got a call, and it was from the person who posted the ad I had a feeling about. To make a long story short, we've been happily married for over 7 years now! [Big Grin]

So, whatever it is, psychic intuition, or someone watching over me (angels, spirit guides, or God Himself), brought me to the one I'm spending the rest of my life with.
