Hey everybody! My name is Clarissa Tate, but everyone calls me Kris...I live in Rutledge, Tn. which is a small town about 30 miles east of Knoxville. (I listed my location in my profile as Knoxville, since I'm sure noone has heard of Rutledge...lol) I'm 36 years old, & have a son, Brandon, who is 18 & an avid baseball player...I quit work 11 years ago to care for my mother when she was diagnosed with COPD, (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) & was put on oxygen, so I guess you could say I "work" but just not at a public job...
When I have the time, I like to sew, especially quilts. I also love to go to my sons baseball games, although I seldom get to go, as my mom can't be left alone...We have a dog, Gizmo, he is a 7 yr. old Pekingnese & is considered my second child...LOL (but true...) We also have a Siamese cat named "Haywood"...don't ask me...my son named him...!lol Not sure how old he is, we got him about 5 years ago when he was just a kitty... We also have a "painted" turtle, Freddie, Brandon (my son) found him in a pond while he was fishing 2 yrs. ago this past August.
Boy, I didn't realize how boring my life is until now...LOL I really don't go many places, I just mostly stay home & take care of Moma & the rest of the gang...but I wouldn't have it any other way. I always said she nor daddy would ever go into a nursing home as long as I was able to take care of them. (we lost daddy in 1988). Anyway, I love reading everything on this site, & would love to share some of the ghost stories about my sisters ex-husbands house...very haunted...so if anyone would like to hear them feel free to e-mail me!O.K. now that I have taken up WAY too much space, LOL, thats about all there is to know about me. If anyone knows of any haunted locations in East Tn. please let me know. My sister Teresa comes down every October from Virginia, & we try to find a known haunted place to visit...this is what I call my "annual outing"...(pathetic, I know...lol) Well, thats all folks...I look forward to chatting with all of you! God bless, Clarissa (Kris)

hi, clarissa! i'm new to this site but i am sure glad i found it , it's one of the coolest sites yet. as for taking care of your parents, well, that's the way it should be. i wouldn't put mine in a nursing home either. it just wouldn't be right. good luck to Brandon with his baseball. and will say a prayer for your mom.

Hi Clarissa! It's nice to have you aboard. Your life doesn't sound boring at all, in fact, it sounds like you are a very busy lady! I think it's wonderful that you are able to take care of your Mother at home.

I would love to hear about some of the experiences you had in your sister's ex-husband's house!! If you wish to share you can post in the Ghost & Spirit's forum. =)

Enjoy your stay! =)

Hi Claeissa
Welcome to SK, your life isn't so boring sounds a lot like mine. My wife and me just moved to Ontario from Alberta to help her parents out. her mother has Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. So other then helping them out and watching my four year old daughter during the day. Reading and talking about ghosts is the one hobby I have time for.

Hey M.W! I'm sorry to hear about your mother in laws condition. I don't think I have ever heard of that before, but I'm sure its very hard on you & your family. Moma has COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease...in case you aren't familiar with it...) My dad passed away in 1988 of the same thing. It's hard, VERY hard....As I said, I don't know what IPF is, & I don't know if your mother-in-law has to use inhalers, but if she does has she been put on "Spiriva"? It's a new kind of inhaler that just became available in the US recently, I don't know if its available in Canada, but Momas doctor put her on it a couple of months ago & I am just amazed at the improvement of her breathing! She was having to use a nebulizer 3 or 4 times a day, now she doesn't have to use it AT ALL, & only uses the Spiriva once a day!! Like I said, this may not even be anything your mother-in-law can benefit from, but it would be worth asking her doctor about...Well, now that my medical lecture is over (LOL) I'd just like to say welcome to the site. I'm fairly new too, but I love what I've seen so far! Hope to talk to you later...take care & god bless....I will say a prayer for your mother-in-law, will you please do the same for my mother? All the medicine in the world would be useless without the lord....Clarissa

Haunted places in TN ?? hmmmm racking my brain... Try the cabins in Cades Cove and its cemeteries... had bit of luck there before. In South Knoxville where the new bridge crosses... just across the road and back in the woods from a nursing home ... is a very old cemetery... heard from several sources that this is pre-civil war era. I have not ventured there myself but I am told that there is a cannon barrell lodged in a tree fork and the tree has swallowed it over the years. Also I would caution any visitors as the stories I have heard about the place are somewhat evil.
Some say there are people who were tried for witchcraft buried there.
Anyway I know of 2 or 3 more places but they are private residences.
<---- Born raised and lived in Knoxville for 38 years. been away for almost 3 and only have a year or more before I can come home ... as soon as the last kidlet graduates.
