I’m sure everyone has seen the signs for “$5 Psychic Readings” in their town or while traveling elsewhere. What I wanted to discuss here were your thoughts on using psychics for more than just personal entertainment, more specifically in police and detective work.

There’s been documented cases in the past where police haven’t been able to solve a crime, at which point they turn to a psychic for help. What I find the most interesting is when the psychics they hire actually solve the case.

What are your thoughts on this? What about using psychics to help solve some of the current investigations (such as the Peterson or Hacking trials?)

I saw this show the other day and was fascinated with it. I've got to admit, I don't put a lot of stock in the "$5 psychic readings", but I do believe that some people have the ability to see into the past or future. In fact, I think we all do to varying degrees, some people just have a sharpened sense of it. Just not all the folks who advertise on the side of the road.

If I were ever in the horrible position of having an unsolved crime in my family, I probably would try to find a reputable psychic. Most policemen, and I know quite a few, disregard psychics, but some will grudgingly admit there is something to it. I thought it was interesting on the program the other night that the two different psychics had conflicting feelings about the Scott Peterson case.

I have seen a few special programs where psychics have been used to help with murder/missing children cases. I also wonder how helpful they are, as the shows I've seen they could only give a description of an area where they felt the body was hidden. It seemed like a pretty vague description, although when they did finally find the bodies the description made sense. I will have to make it a point to catch this show, sounds very interesting.

My Grandmother has helped with several investigations. Children come to her in her dreams. While I don't think she solved the cases, she did provide some id factors of the criminals. Like with that girl abducted in SLC, Grandma asked her spiritguide, he told her that the girl was abducted by a religious man who had a helper, and that the girl was being molested. The guy turned out to be a whacko he thought God told him he could have this girl as a wife. And this man's wife was helping him. This world is full of some crazy people!

It certainly goes without saying that there sadly are many people out there posing to be psychic for the purpose of making a buck. In the process they play on peoples emotions and fears and no doubt have caused unnecessary grief or concern to some. On the other hand though I fully believe that we all possess this gift to some degree and there are those that have learned to tune into it giving them a more pronounced psychic insight. There are several well known psychics that have proven their talent or gift to the world via media forum. Yes some may provide vauge description to police in hope to aid in an investigation while others are able to give more specific details. To me both have value for even if something vague is provided if it turns out to be information that does help link the pieces then it was worth obtaining.

I would head in the other direction of those quicky types that give readings for a few bucks. In my experience some of the best I have encountered are not those that advertise themselves but I have come to meet them through word of mouth. I also think we play a big part in it as well in that if we have an open willing mind we are more likely to send information that is already within us to those that are perceptive at receiving them.

There are varied types out there - those that are able to see and hear spirit, those that are able to tune into another, those that can pick up energy from something a person owns and those that can see or get a glimpse to what may come to be. One common factor though it seems with the psychics that are in the public eye is that they all refer to their spirit guide as the channel that gives them much of the information.

If we could all quiet the world around us and tune into our inner self I think we would all experience more of the psychic abilities that is each of us. =)
