I was downloading some pictures from my hp digital camera the other day and when I was looking at them I noticed this shot. This is a picture of my nephew (in the back) and his wife at her baby shower I threw for them a few weeks ago. This is the only shot that came out like this. There were no lights overhead and I wasn't moving to make it out of focus. Any Ideas to what this could be?? I can't help but notice all the steams of light around them and the fogginess also. -

Hi kitchen witch

Intresting photo, i toke it to a photo program i have and I noticed two things. One is the dimond shape by the guys lower right leg. The second thing is there is a retangle section starting at the lady's right elbow and goes down. it seems to be unaffected. (this really showed up when I used a red tint on it) I'm not sure if its your camera or if you got a spirit, but maybe try and recontruct the setting and take another picture, it might tell if it was the camera or a spirit.

Barb,

I'm gonna take a closer look at this one. I have had those "squiggles" of light (looks like check marks) show up in lot of my pics and it's something to do with lighting or relfection and slight movement of the cam. Not sure about the lil diamond shape thingee or the haze or mist looking stuff. Interesting pic for sure.

Hugs,
Pate

I agree with Pate in that the squiggly things are caused by light reflections - have had some of those in pics as well. The little triangle - it's hard to tell without seeing it enlarged but it may be a something metal on the door that the light bounced off of. As for the misty stuff that I'm not sure on. It's intersting though if you look close at it there seems to be dark shadow spots within it, not sure what would cause that. The fog also arches at the top in the same shape like the doors are, so at first I would say there was a slight movement of the camera but you mentioned there was no movement - so now the question remains, what caused it? =) Maybe when Pate has a closer look with her photo program it may show something more?

Hey Barb:

The weird looking stuff in this pic was probably caused from a very slight movement of the cam. You can see where the stairs are distorted, and the doorway and arch over doors. I know with my digital, if I even barely move it, I get similar stuff. The white haze is from the white areas on the doorways and tablecloth. Digital cams seem to be very sensitive to movement. I have this happen to me and not realize I moved the cam at all. Here's what I see:

Well as mentioned that was also my first inclination when looking at the pic that there was a slight movement. I guess digitals are more sensitive then we realize. [Sigh] It does make sense though when you consider the shapes of the fog as they resemble the door arches. Still not sure what caused the shadow though but I imagine it was part of what occured with the movement. Hang in there Barb and keep taking those pictures. =)

If you look at her dress, you can also see the man's black pants and white shirt, superimposed on the black and white dress. This is definitely a movement of the cam. Like I said, I've not even realized it at times when I've done the same thing. The first night I went out with my digital cam, oh my lord... every pic had distortions in it, and I was ready to return it, thinkin it was the cam. Just have to be really steady, have settings right for the situation and click away. I have a lot more of these type pics than others. [Laughing] Keep at it, Barb.

chances are the shutter speed was too slow and when that happens any movement no matter how slight will cause that effect

Thanks everyone for the work and input. I see it know how it is a double exposure. I guess I must have had to much coffee that day and my hands must have been shaking [Laughing] . Thanks Pate for your work it helped me to look at it more clearly [Wink] .
