Okay flashing lights aren't that exciting as to rank 2 exclamation points however.... Saturday I was at work, the new girl left to go to lunch. She had been gone about 20 minutes when the oddest thing happened. I was sitting chatting on the phone when ALL the lights in the store started flashing. I was on the cordless and it didn't cut out nor did the radio cut out and it was playing. It lasted about 10 seconds I'd say and stopped. Freaked me out a bit and I wasn't sad when the other girl got back from lunch so I wasn't there alone any more. Then last night, the kiddo and I got home from her twirl class, I fixed dinner and just the normal stuff. We were sitting at the kitchen table eating when all the lights in the kitchen got really dim and then they got really bright. Again this lasted for about 10 seconds and then just stopped. The tv was on the in living room along w/ a lamp. Neither of the tv nor the lamp cut in and out or got any brighter or dimmer. Elizabeth (the kiddo for those who don't know) actually got really scared. I was just really curious. I was going to post this last night and I got it about half typed out when the electric flashed off for about again 10 seconds and then came back on. I decided that perhaps it was a sign and just went ahead and saved it for tonight. Now this all could just be odd coincidence, which is what I'm leaning towards at the moment, however I would like some outside input.

Well, a lot of things can cause that... faulty wiring, power surges, a faulty fuse/circuit breaker, a dying switch/dimmer, or a momentary power failure. Have you had an electrician check the wiring?

Do you have other activity in the store that is indicative of the paranormal? Maybe someone (something) is trying to tell you something. Have you tried taking some pictures, or setting up a tape recorder to see if you can get an EVP?

Hi Miranda and everyone,

Your post really caught my eye, or eyes!
My Mother passed on last November and I hadn't been to her house since the funeral until Good Friday this year.
My sister and brother had been in the house almost daily, running water, turning lights off and on, etc....caring for the house.
Three separate times (myself) going into the house the lights around the house did the same quick flashing. My sister Kathy seen it and started telling me about a couple things with "the lights".
I am a sensitive and my sister is a beleiver, my brother doesn't even want us talking about it in front of him.
Kathy said she was down at Mom's and was in the laundry room cleaning out cupboards. There is a bathroom with a frosted glass window between the bathroom and laundry room. Kathy said she seen the bathroom light go on. She walked down the hallway and as soon as she got to the bathroom the light went off! She said she walked back to the laundry room and it was on again? Kathy did this several times, checking the switch and said ok then and left! LOL (She really thought she was so stressed out about Mom she was losing her mind.)
The lights flashing didn't happen right after walking in the house. Each time it was after being there for awhile.
We finally put our family home up for sale. It was a very hard thing to do for all three of us. In September I went up to help. When I got there things were well underway, packing and such. My husband and I started helping. Six adults and three children were all standing in the living room and the ceiling lights in the kitchen (all lamps had been packed, etc.) started flickering for about 30 seconds. With everyone looking we deduced that the lights never went off completely just dimmer then brighter.
We all beleive it was either Mom or Dad or possibly both.
Ray did have a company come and check it out. He and Kathy both told the gentleman what had happened and we were concerned as we were selling the house, actually had it sold just hadn't closed on it. He checked out all he could think of and didn't find anything wrong.
Last month I went to spend the weekend with my sister. I slept like a baby for the first time in months! In the morning Kathy said, "Peg, you really do have trouble getting a nights sleep don't you?" I looked at her like what? She went on to say she just noticed the light on and off in my room all night? LOL It wasn't moi!
I wish that I would have done what Kevin suggested before we sold the house, pictures or audio tapes.......something. I did bring my digital cam that also does video and audio as well but my sister was totally against me doing this and I honored her wishes.
I think, the feeling I got was a "hello" from it all. Like I am here with you. Not a bad feeling at all.
In my 46 years I have seen, heard and sensed all kinds of things. This was the first, well that I noticed, time ever with lights!
Sorry this was so long and it may be written a bit fragmented as I have so much to say! LOL
Let us know if anything new develops.
Hugs......

Neat story Peg!! The lights have all stayed on as they should since then. I haven't had anyone check the wiring in the house seeing as this was the first time that it had happened. As for the store, I don't know if the wiring has been checked as of late, however we have only been in that location about a year and a half and the building was completely remodeled and rewired in order to handle our operations. I did mention this to one of the other girls I work with and she said that before I started the sign used to turn itself off all the time. She even called our corporate office and them send someone to check it and they found nothing wrong. I really wouldn't have thought anything of it when the lights started flashing at work if the radio and the phone hadn't stayed on the entire time. Those lights can't possibly be all on the same ciruit. I wouldn't think anyway. There are a bunch of them. I think I"m going to check the security tape from Saturday and see what I find. I do know that the security monitor and vcr are on the same circuit as the light above them and it flashed also. Somebody remind me to check that!!! lol Anywoo, I haven't attempted taking pictures nor bringing in a audio recorder. Perhaps I'll try next week. The manager did say she used to hear all sorts of weird things coming from the upstairs when the store first opened. The upstairs is supposed to be used as an office or sorts however none of us ever want to stay up there long so it's pretty much storage.

There certainly are times when wiring goes or power surges cause flickers etc. It is always good to rule that out first.

However I don't believe in concidences and the flickering of lights is one of the many ways that those on the other side use to let us know they are there or to get our attention. Ghosties use the lights as well. With this happening in two different locations home and work and seeing that it is not a general flicker in that all things on the same circuit are affected I lean towards thinking someone wanted your attention. Our spirit guides also use this method to get our attention. Is there anything else unusual that has happened lately that you hadn't really given a second thought too? ie - something moved or missing of yours at home or work? Is there something that you have been bothered by or wanting an answer to perhaps? Any special dates coming up? Listen to your inner voice it will tell you if that is what this is.

I know you mentioned that your manager has spoke of some activity at the store before and there is a possibility this is related however what strikes my cord here is that the lights flickered just for you - when you were alone there. Unless a resident visitor there followed you home that night! [Wink]

I know some people feel we can read to much into things which at times yes perhaps we do and we need to try and avoid doing that, but, I also think that far to often we pass things off as nothing. It's as if we need to have something drop out of the sky before we take notice.

We have had and continue to have lights that flicker in our home as if they are going to burn out (but don't) or work one day and not the next. We also have stereo/tv's that turn up the volume on their own, change channels or turn on themselves. We have had parts of our home rewired (one area twice) and have had things checked by an electrician who found nothing wrong. At first we passed things off as this or that but not any more. I suppose that is why I'm feeling more inclined that this is more than just a faulty wire for you.

Taking pictures and recordings is always a good idea just don't let that be your only judgement though as we all know that can be such a hit and miss thing.

Do let us know if anything more happens and if you did find any evidence of bad wiring etc.

Peg - thanks for sharing your story as well, that is really interesting. It sure sounds like your Mom wanted to let you know she was there with you.

I think, maybe, just maybe that the flickering lights were a sign of sorts. One that was saying GET READY CHICK CAUSE HERE IT COMES!!! Okay just a brief rundown, this has been one heck of a week but I will only point out the well they aren't highlights, they are lowlights. On Wednesday a very good friend of mine called me to make plans to come down for the weekend, on Thursday he called back to say he couldn't make it because his aunt had died. On Friday I had a dr.'s appt and was of course running a bit late. In the middle of drying my hair another very good friend of mine called to tell me she couldn't watch the kiddo this weekend (i had yet to get around to calling her and telling her I didn't need a sitter this weekend) because her boyfriend's mother had died the previous night. That one really bothers me because I know these folks really well and his mother was a wonderful person. That brings us up to today. This morning my lil' brother who lives outside Salt Lake City called to tell me his friend's brother was murdered the night before. While none of this directly affects me I've been playing grief counselour for quite a few days now, which is fine, I really don't mind but it's really draining all the same. On a not so completely unrelated note. On Wednesday night I had the most horrible dream and while I can't say it's directly related it just might be. In the dream there was this man going around killing people and after he was through doing whatever to them he would make me come and look at them. I remember in the dream begging him to stop and to please please not make me look at them anymore. I seemed to be rather powerless to stop all this from happening. The dream ended with me sitting the floor of a bedroom and just sobbing because his last victim was someone I knew. I don't have any clue who this person was actually, but in the dream I knew them. I woke up feeling shaky and just out of sorts. I'm used to bizarre dreams but that one takes the cake. It's been one strange week for the Princess.

Wow, I would say not only a strange week but a very emotional and draining one as well (what a wonderful person you are). I think you have your answer Miranda. Sounds like someone was providing a little warning flicker or a heads up it's going to be one of those weeks?

I would say your dream sounded like a realease dream and your dealing with all of this when I first read it, however if I read your post correctly the dream came before the calls about the deaths so it might have been a bit of a warning or precog dream. A little spooky isn't it? Especially since one of the deaths was a tragic murder. The poor soul. Maybe the ending of you knowing the last victim was because it involved your brother in that it was his friend so that brings it closer to home.

Sorry this has been such a difficult week for you and so sorry to hear of the loss that each of these people have had. Will send white light for all of them and for those passed for a safe journey home.

By the way do they know who murdered your brothers friend? If not maybe there is even more to your dream? [Shock]

The dream did come before the phone calls so I"m thinking precog. dream myself. As for the murderer, he was caught that same night. From what my brother tells me it was an arguement between two acquaitances that went too far. The poor kid was only 21. I will from now on be very ready when the lights start flickering. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they/it/whatever it is could give a more direct message? Maybe an email or text message along the lines of "while I can't tell you exactly what is going to happen this week, I can say that you will need to prepare yourself mentally. Everything will be okay but you need to get ready". One would think I would have learned by now to pay really close attention to those oh my god real/ emotionally powerful dreams. When I have one of those, while it's never exactly what happened in the dream, whatever the dreams main theme was happens is some form within the next few days to a week. It's really bizarre.

Yes it sure would make things much easier if the signs we are given came with a more direct message wouldn't it. I suppose that remains our challenge. Had your dream happened prior to the lights flickering do you think you would have paid closer attention to the dream? Do you journal your dreams? Seeing that you have had experiences with these type of dreams before it may be very helpful to you to journal. It will help you to decipher the symbols and meanings better. There are some generic ones that are rather universal in meaning but many can mean something different for you then it would for antoher. Dreams are very personal and only the dreamer can truly determine their meaning - the details of them that is. We all seem to remember or think more of those dreams that are very graphic or emotional however some of the more subtle or shorter dreams can hold some clues for us as well. Well I am glad you have found some answers with this one it's just sad that the circumstances of the events involve the loss of others. Only 21, that sure hits the heart - so very sad. I can't imagine the torment that his family and friends are going through along with the boy accused and his family. =(
