Has anybody here had one of those "gut feelings" that something was going to happen a certain way and it did?

Now this could be a coincidence, but I had a gut feeling, as long as a week ago, that the Red Sox would win the World Series. When they were down 3 games to none against the Yankees, I had this feeling that they would win the next 4 games to make it to the series. I shrugged it off, thinking, what are the odds of that happening? Wishful thinking, but they pulled it off. Then I had the feeling they would beat the Cardinals, maybe even in a sweep. And look what happened.

So, I have to wonder if it was coincidence, psychic intuition, or just a far-fetched wish of a longtime Red Sox fan that against all odds came true?

I have a gut feeling about the presidential election too, but I'll refrain from getting into that here right now. I guess we'll find out next week if it's correct or just wishful thinking. =)

Well, once a "gut feeling" probably saved me from a robbery.

A few years back, I was going to night school and had stopped off at the bank after class to get some money out of the ATM. This was not a "drive-thru" ATM but a "park your car and walk up" one. As I parked my car and got out I decided to leave the driver's door open. It was a 68 cougar with saggy door hinges that I didn't feel like fighting with. As I was walking up to the ATM a truck pulled into the shopping center next to the bank and stopped. Since he was watching me, I decided to return the favor and get a *good* look at him as well. Then he drove off but I had this feeling that he was just going to make a block and come back... so I finished up quickly and got back into my car and hauled buggy out of there. As soon as I was backing out to leave the bank, sure enough, there was that truck coming back -- but by the time he could reach the bank I was long gone.

The next day my dad warned me to stay away from ATMs in that part of town because several robberies had been reported on the news the previous night.

I didn't have a gut feeling about the Sox, but I was hoping that they would win. I tend to root for the underdog. I think it's really cool that the supposed "curse" was broken. I have had "gut" feelings so many times and they have turned out to be right. I have to say that most of those have been since I had my son. I guess it's "mother's intuition." I've learned over the years, if I had a gut feeling about anything to do with him, to take it seriously. I also tend to do that when I feel someone is not being honest with me, especially if it's a friend. I think that is just the god given gift of "woman's intuition." Ladies, you know what I'm talking about. [Laughing]

I'm glad that your team broke the curse Kevin. I caught a bit of the View today and they mentioned the curse and showed a cookie with 'break the curse' on it which has been for sale for the past year there. I guess all those positive thoughts and energy paid off.

I have had gut feelings that have helped me, including those that came to be. I suspect yours Kevin was likely a combo - meaning a bit of wishful thinking at first and your gut telling you it will be in response (two for two no less). =) Besides how many times have we all had wishful thinking for something that didn't come to be. I have heard and read that doing exercises such as trying to predict the winner of a game or who is calling when the phone rings (call display doesn't count [Wink] ) by purely listening to that innervoice is a great way to build your psychic awareness/instinct.

It's not often you hear of someone saying their gut was wrong - provided it was the very first thought or feeling they acted upon and not the second after the mind starts to interfere. Not always easy to do as outside noise, thoughts and even logic etc. jumps in pretty quick.

Grumpieone your experience is another good example of trusting your instincts. Considering the facts of what did occur in that area at the time and the truck returned, listening to your gut and using good defensive tactics may very well have helped you avoid being a victim. Good for you.

I think the older I get, the more I trust my intuition. I did it to a lesser extent when I was young. When I was in high school and even college, friends were amazed that I could usually ace any multiple choice test, regardless if I knew beans about the subject or not. The reason: I learned to trust my intuition regarding the correct answers. I was usually on the Dean's List, but not necessarily because I worked harder or was any smarter than anyone else, I was just good at trusting my gut instincts on tests!

Grumpieone, your experience reminds me of what happened to me a few months ago when I posted about the shootings at my husband's place of work and how I had narrowly avoided being in the area at the time. It is times like that you're really thankful for that inner voice keeping you out of harms way!

Incidentally, I posted in the Cool Links section an on-line psychic ability test that I've been playing with for a while now. I've been amazed at how my skills have improved in the short time I've made any attempt to work on them!

Yes, all the time. I predicted how the sox would win at the beginning of the season. For what that means.

Wow, good stories! My Red Sox gut feeling pales by comparison.

BTW, my "gut feeling" about the election was wrong. I thought the other guy would win. But then I'm somewhat biased, so that could have affected it, or I picked up on the wrong feeling.

My gut feeling (or maybe it was my guardian angel?) helped me meet my wife too. She had posted a personal ad, and one day when I was in a fast food place that carried the flyers, I had the feeling I should pick up a copy. Later on I was looking through it, circling ads that looked interesting. I had a feeling about a particular ad, and I knew I should reply to that one first. Actually, I replied to four ads, but I had a feeling about that particular one. A week or so later I got a call, and when I talked to her I figured out which ad she posted, and it was the one I had the feeling about. We got together, and we were clearly meant for each other. I've known her for 10 years now and we've been married for 7.

It just seems too much to be a coincidence, for me to have found my soul mate on the first try. Someone, or something, was watching over me.

That's simply amazing Kevin. I agree that it is too much to be a coincedence.
Congratulations. Whatever it was, you're a lucky man.
