In the year 2000, my Grandmother passed away at the age of 90. She lived in her house alone, still drove a car and was very active. She had gone to visit her dying friend, and was holding her hand, when her friend died, and could not release her hand free. This caused a back injury, which caused her to fall and break her hip. She died shortly afterwards.
Her house was put up for sale, and for 2 years I kept it up and got it ready for the realtors to show it. I had gone over and over that house, cleaning, and making sure it was perfect. I had noticed the mice were starting to chew the backs of the drawers, so I kept Decon mouse poison in them. The night before it was to be shown again, I went in to get the poison out, and I opened one of the bathroom drawers. Instead of the poison, I found one of my Grandma's beatiful hand towels there, with her hair laying on top of it. It was about 8 inches long, and looked like it had been pulled out with some scalp till on the ends.
As long as I can remember Grandma saved hair from everyone and from every occasion. Her Bibles and books had little locks of hair through out the pages of them. I was'nt afraid at all, and took the towel and the hair home with me, trimmed all the dried stuff off the ends and divided it up between my sisters and I.
I know this was Grandma's way of a last good-bye, because the house was sold the next day. I will always hold a special place in my heart for this experience!

isnt it amazing what we sometimes receive when someone dies, i think we actually receive more than we think, because we are condiditioned that way. i have a boat clock and it rang one bell awhile back. i thought it was spooky but never gave it any more thought. now i wish i had paid more attention. i do have one question and dont mean this in a bad way, but when a person dies, their body is totally relaxed for awhile, depending on room conditions, i wonder if something else didnt cause your grandmother to fall. please dont take this wrong, im a nurse and i cant figure out how come she couldnt get her hand loose. maybe grandmas hand cramped.

Yes Linda, that is a question we all were asking! How could she not be able to free her hand? As it turned out she stood there, bent over the bed for an hour before help came. She had four bones broke in the top of her hand, and terrible bruises, which required a cast. She also had osteoporosis, and had broken her back 30 years ago, while lifting my Grandfather(who had M.S.)out of the tub. I'm sure it was because of the way she was standing, and the pain in her back, for the reason she was'nt strong enough to free her hand.

She had 24 hour care at her home following this incident, and it was'nt until a week later she tried to get out of bed at 3am alone, and her hip broke before she even fell.

She then became ill with Pneumonia, and passed away shortly afterwards. She was such a strong person otherwise, and was always trying to care for everyone. Her daughter(my mother) also has M.S.(cronic progressive) and has been in a wheelchair for 25 years.

As for the hair, I'm still amazed and have to wonder about it. But I truely believe she left it there for me. Although I've always questioned why it had that dark red, dried, scalp like substance attached to all the ends. That was the only thing that spooked me when I first opened the drawer and saw it.

Thank for you reply, it means alot to me!
