I have had this little brass clown face that hangs on the wall for as long as I can remember. While in the process of moving to our new home,we left a few things behind, for a couple of weeks, until we were more organized. Returning to the old house to get the rest, and clean it up, I found my brass clown face on the floor. I went to pick it up, and had to jump back because I could'nt believe what I was seeing! The groves around it's eyes were wet and blackened with something. When I picked it up, it dripped on my hand, but when I tried to wipe it off, it was dry like there was nothing there. It was like an oily substance, and under a microscope it was beautiful colors of greens, purples, reds, and blues.

I wiped it all off, and hung it back on the wall, only to find it all wet the next day. I took it to several different people to get their opinions, and they all said to get rid of it. Well, I could'nt do that, so I took my dremel and wire brushed it clean and took all the black off from it.

Since then, it has only been wet once more, and was dry the next day, without me touching it. I was never afraid of it, just a little shocked at first, and very glad I kept it.

Wow, Emerald, that is really weird. I have seen pics of crying statues, but that'a s first. Maybe some one here can give you an explanation for that. I know brass tarnishes if it gets moisture, and it usually turns greenish. I don't know enough about it to know if that could be some kind of natural process if it was exposed to moisture or something. -

To tell you the truth, I also thought it might have been moisture from being on the floor. That's why I had it put under a microscope, but the colors I saw under it were produced by crystals, and were they ever beautiful! And it was just around the eyes! Weird, yes! That's probably why everyone freaked and told me to get rid of it.I was really spooked after the oily substance came back twice after I had cleaned it, but I was not going to let that type of fear control me!

If anyone here can explain how this could happen, I would greatly listen! The clown face hangs on my wall, and I still look at it everyday with questions about it!
