I originally found this website because of the dreams I've been having. They started acouple of years ago,and it's always in my Grandparents house where all my brothers and sisters, and cousins exrerienced the same experiences. Like I mentioned in another post, it started with grabs and taps, which followed us home from our visits there.

It seemed like when we hit a certain age, this type of contact stopped, but it would always come and sit on our beds at night at any age. I have'nt slept at my parents house for years now, and this has'nt happened where I live now.

Now, I have dreams about the house quite regularly, and they are alway terrible nightmares. There is always something after me, and I can never get out. This is really upsetting, because I loved my Grandparents so much, and there house was just beautiful. My last dream I had woke me up, and when I looked to my side at my husband, I noticed something between our pillows. I kind of sat up and leaned over to see what it was, when this dark gray cloak like thing rose up, and acted like it was going to cover my head. I could feel myself being sucked down into it, and I started to yell, No No oh No, over and over. My husband than grabbed me and was saying, it's OK it's only a dream to me. I was crying and I kept telling him it was'nt a dream, something was trying to pull me down in between the pillows. He got up and turned the light on, showing me there was nothing there, and there was'nt. I just sat there staring at the bed, and second guessing at what just happened. I know I was awake, but then again I could have dreamed I woke up too.It was all so real, and I was sitting up the whole time this was happening.

In my mind I know I was awake, but when he just laughs at me, and says I'm watching to many haunted stories on T.V., I don't know what to think.

Has anyone ever had this happen before, when you know you were awake, but it's too weird to be real?

Hi Emerald:

For one thing, the psyche and the subconcious can be strange, and sometimes it's hard to know why people dream the things they do. Visitations from spirits, are usually not frightening and the spirits who visit are recognizable as loved ones. I've also read where you can be in a certain phase of sleep and consciousness, and wake up...but not be fully awake... kinda like having a "waking dream." There is also a phenomenon called "astral catalepsy." It's a common experience which can easily be mistaken for a haunting. People who experience astral catalepsy swear that they are stalked by an ominous ghost, have demons or someone sitting on their chest, and can't move, things like that. Some people believe that when we sleep, even though we may not realize it, several times a week, our spirits leave our bodies. According to Syliva Browne, "These astral trips are necessary for nourishment of our souls. We can visit whoever we want to on earth or on the Other Side. On very rare occasions, the conscious mind is alert enough during sleep to detect the leaving or returning of the spirit to the body. When that happens, the conscious mind recieves a signal, that the physical body is dying, or dead, or there are sensations of imminent danger and sudden disoriented fear. Some hear a loud noise, which is the soul crossing over from another dimension, (the soul's version of a sonic boom.)" One thing Sylvia Browne suggests is to ask God to protect you before you go to sleep and guide your spirit while you sleep. I'm not saying this is what is happening to you, but could be a possibility.

Oh My!! SavannahSilkie that is so very interesting!! And I want to learn more about it as soon as possible. I've heard about Silvia Brown before but really never gave her a second thought.Well I will now, and I'll pay attention! You have really explained this in such a wonderful way, you can't imagine how much better I feel!

Which books of Silvia Brown's are these? Is it alright to tell me on here? If not don't worry I'll find them!

Thank you so much for that information, you have been the best help in all my posts!

Hi Emerald,

Pate has good points and the explanation is my understanding as well. I too am a fan of Sylvia's and have found many of her books to be helpful. I have read several different dream books but have found Sylvia's to be the best by far. It is called Book of Dreams by Sylvia Browne. I can only speak for myself here but I gained a much better understanding of dreams having read it. We each remain the best person to understand the meaning behind our own dreams. I have also come to learn that our fears will come out in various ways in our dreams. You have posted about several strange experiences you have had and the fears that came with it so it may be this dream was you releasing some of those fears/thoughts. Sylvia talks about this in the book as well.

I journal my dreams and have found that to be very helpful for me. Sometimes I will look back at previous dreams journaled having uncovered their meaning weeks later when new clues emerged in a new dream or having had a situation occur that gave meaning to that earlier dream. It has also helped me with my dream recollection.

Happy reading & dreaming, Cat =)

Thank you Cat, I will get her book tomarrow! I'm already starting to understand the meaning of these dreams after reading yours and SavannahSilkie's(Pate) replies. I can now see the connection between the cloacked thing in my bed, and the terrible fear I have of shadow people, as you might have read in my last post in "shadow people". This dream occurred weeks ago,and I posted that the other night when I was here all alone, not even thinking of the dream at the time.

Wow, are minds do work in mysterious ways! My last paranormal experience was Grandma's hair(different Grandma, not "haunted house" Grandma)and that was two years ago, and that was when my dreams started.

I can't wait to get started reading Silvia's book!Although I'm still very afaid of the shadow people, and probably always will be, because they were real, and came into my room for years. I think it's more from the unknown about them, than anything else. With all my other experiences, I have at least felt, that no harm was coming my way.

I'm so glad I found this site! And I'm so thankful for everyone's understand and help!

((hugs and more hugs)) to all!

Emerald, you're more than welcome. I'm glad I could be of help. The book Cat mentioned is a great one to read to help you understand your dreams better. Sylvia Browne has numerous books and they're all really good and enlightening. Visits From The Afterlife is a good one and so is, Healing Your Body, Mind, and Soul: Learn to Reprogram Your Mind to Stay Healthy. I recently bought her book, Past Lives, Future Healing: A Psychic Explores Cel. I haven't read it yet, I'm reading through a couple other books first. Her Book of Dreams was a good suggestion by Cat. Let us know what you think of it. Take care,
