Hi everyone
I'm not so sure if what I am hearing is EVP's or not so I've come to ask the experts.

Obviously we have a computer, now we have speakers attached and usually my husband plays PC games on it and forgets to switch the speakers off, the computer stays on 24/7 but lately when I am alone in front of the computer I hear noises from my speakers when I am on an ordinary site where I shouldn't be getting any sound. It sounds like something but I can't be sure. I just want to know 2 things, first one is, is this possible? or is it just something that happens, perhaps a fault developing in our speakers?

Second thing is, how would I catch a recording of this? Should I hold my voice recorder up to it if I hear it?

It only continues for a matter of seconds and then it's gone. I did speak and say "I'm sorry but I didn't hear, could you repeat that?" but nothing happened when I tried, I only said it once, being the scaredy cat I am [Laughing] ! It doesn't happen on a daily basis either but mainly early morning, it's not consistent with sites either.

By the way, I have had no other experiences in the apartment since my husband spoke out loud and said we were frightened!

EVPs on the computer? Hmmm... not an expert in this field but I've never heard of it. Of course, that's not to say your ghostie isn't a computer geek.

For some reason it seems that computer speakers pick up interference a lot easier than most other electronics. For example, I live less than 100 feet from the railroad tracks and every time a train goes by I get s buzzing interference through my computer speakers. Also, if my cell phone is anywhere near the computer, the speakers will pick up the signal to the phone. I will know it is going to ring before it actually does because the interference hits the computer first.

Another thing that will cause odd sounds or interference is if a speaker or microphone wire is not plugged completely in. Make sure all the wires are pushed completely into their sockets.

Again, not really sure about an EVP on the computer, but according to many stories read hear and elsewhere ghosts can cause interference in electrical appliaces and gadgets. So, if you eliminate all other possible sources of interference, I suppose there's a chance your ghostie is surfing the net alongside you.

yeah it is possible to pick up frequencys of other objects for example sometimes my guitar amp picks up C.B. radios. so thats probably whats going on. oh and in this field (ghost research) there is no such thing as an expert as it is an unproven science. [Wink]

Thank you both for the replies, it does sound a bit like a radio, that's more than likely what it is. All my wires are plugged in securely. I know the noise that the phone causes on the computer and it's not like that one at all so it probably is a radio from a passing something or other. It's only in the mornings though. Hmmm! Do garbage vans have radios in them? They're the only things that would be out around that time of the morning (each street gets done on a different day - explains why there is no pattern), if it were police ones we'd hear them at other times of the day too. Thanks though, I feel better knowing that whoever or whatever is gone completely (well, at least we don't see or hear from them anyway).

Hey there Jessica:

I'm glad to hear that whatever was scaring you in your home has calmed down. Sometimes, that's all it takes is to speak to it, or ask it to leave. As far as the sounds from your speakers, I agree with what KDogg and Damien have said. Now, if your puter was completely shut down and you heard it...that might be a horse of a different color. [Wink] I had the same thing happen with my speakers, and it went on for a couple of weeks. I checked the plugs, and everything imaginable, and still don't know for sure what caused it. The sounds coming from mine were similar to the sounds you would hear from a ham radio. So someone in my vicinity may have been operating one. It is possible garbage trucks have radios on them. I guess it depends on the city or county you live in. I think the ones we have do. Anyway, I think it's safe to say that it's not an EVP. And, also... Welcome home and welcome back to SpiritKeep.

Hugs,
Pate

I used to get gospel music through my computer speakers. Drove me crazy for the longest time. Have to agree that there are too many explanations for it. Maybe you can capture it and let us hear?

Hi Jessica,

I agree with the others about different frequencies interfering and coming through your speakers. It happens to me quite often; I live on a semi-busy street.

When it first happened, it was at night and scared the bejesus out of me. Voices! It turned out that it was the police helicopter flying overhead, communicating with the police cars on the ground (they must have been looking for bad guys [Wink] ). Now I find myself wishing I could hear exactly what they're saying! =P Other types of service cars or trucks driving in the area will also cause static interference, so I don't think you have anything to worry about.
