Hello,

I am new to the paranormal. This is also my first of many questions to come. I didn't think of this dream I had about two years ago until recently when watching a program on tv that said when a ghost or spirit goes into you that you feel surpressed and it is hard to breath( is this true?).
My dream was that my wife were in bed one moring just talking when we both felt a chill and we got the goose bumps and I said do you feel that and then the spirit went into my body.I could not move or speak. And I knew right away that it was my wifes grandmother. Then I woke up.However, when I woke up everything was the same as my dream except that we were actually asleep instead of awake(if that makes sense).

Hi Eccman,

Interesting dream you had. I am not familiar with ghosts/spirits going into someone spontaneously like that, in fact I'm not sure they can, even in dream state. I would think we would need to be open to it in the way that some people are when they channel. I do know that sometimes when you re-enter your own body after astral travel that you can feel like you are paralyzed and can't breathe etc. I've experienced that. I also know that when we are in various stages of dream state that we can feel different sensations, in particular when lucid dreaming. Was your wife's Grandmother in the dream itself, is that what led you to believe it was her? Did this dream feel like a dream or something very real? If I am reading your final comment correctly what you are explaining sounds similar to what others have expressed feeling while waking from an astral dream. What program was it that you saw, it sounds interesting? Cat =)

Oh! I've had dreams with visons in them...strangly enough, it was before my hauntings started happening. It was text (like a computer) for some reason, it was telling my something, but I can't remember exactly. I think I forced myself to forget what it said. I felt a shock go through my body and when I woke up I was completely numb, but I could move. It was about two days before my dad's house became haunted by a small boy. I didn't realize that until today.

Hi Eccman:

I agree with Cat. From what you have described, it sounds as if you experienced "astral cataplepsy." If you're not familiar with astral travel, it's when you are sleeping, and your spirit leaves your body to refresh or replenish itself. Your spirit needs rest from the daily stress, just like your physical body does. It can travel pretty much wherever it wants to go, but, some think a lot of times, it goes "home," (wherever our spirits originated from.) Sometimes, even though you are asleep, the conscious mind becomes aware of your spirit either coming back to or going from the physical body. When this happens, the conscious mind "panics." The feeling of paralysis, the inability to breathe or speak, or feelings of imminent danger are classic symptoms of astral catalepsy. Some people hear a loud sound, not unlike a sonic boom, as the spirit crosses from one dimension to another. I've heard that sound at the beginning of the EVP's I've recorded and many I've heard.) I also think that sometimes, the spirit of a loved one may "help" your spirit to return to the physical body. That may be where you had the feeling about your wife's grandmother. Many people who have experienced astral catalepsy, swear that an ominous spirit was sitting on their chest, or entered their body. You can ask that your spirit be guided gently into your body before you go to sleep, and it is said, that sometimes that works for people who experience this on a regular basis. It may sound a little scarey, but your spirit is doing what it needs to do and it is a natural action for it to get a break from the stress of being in a physical body. If you think about it, it's really kinda cool. [Cool] Just relax about it and enjoy your trip. [Wink] You may never experience astral catalepsy again, but if you do, you will have a good idea what's going on.

Hugs,
