Hi everyone, [Jump] Santa gave me some ghost hunting things for christmas =) . I got 3 books on how to hunt ghosts, take pictures of them and how to investigate cemeteries. I also got a infra-red thermometer and a trifield meter. Now, I have to learn how to use them. Does anyone here have these things and do they really work????? My husband is going to have a field day with me and my new toys. He makes fun of me now I can only guess how many times I will have to remove him from the floor from laughing so hard at me. [Sigh] ( oh, by the way he is the one who got these things for me. He is very supportive with my paranormal fascination but he loves to poke fun at me once in a while) Any help you can give me to learn how to work these thing would greatly be appreciated.

Cool stuff, Kitchenwitch! I shoulda thunked to ask Santy Claus for some stuff like that!

Though I did get one new item that might come in handy down the road in ghost hunting, a Sony DSC-V1 digital camera. My trusty Handycam is great for video, but it was a bit of a stinker for shooting stills, so it was worthwhile to get this new camera.

Hi Barb,

Way to go to your hubby for adding these items under the tree for you. =) Sorry can't be of much help on tips for using them as I have not utilized them myself, maybe some others have who can share some helpful tips with you. Perhaps you've done this already but if not try doing a google search on the items, I've found there to be lots of good info on equipment when doing research in the past.

Have fun with your new equipemnt, do let us know how it works for you. Cat =)

Wow! Is that the Trifield Natural EMF detector that you're talking about? If so, your hubby has excellent taste- that is the finest EMF detector on the market. My first experience with them was actually in the police department- I used to be a member of an entry team- similar to SWAT- and the Trifield meter can detect a human body, even through a wall- excellent for locating suspects before going through the door.
Back to the PN...I can certainly help you, but I need to know a few things.
1. Do you have any experience with the equipment-i.e. have you read the manuals and familiarized yourself with the buttons and controls?
2. Have you participated in a PN investigation before- even as an observer?
3. What is your goal, regarding PN investigations? I ask this because there are things you must do, if you are trying to PROVE pn phenomenon, that are incredibly time-consuming and anal-retentive, but which are unnecessary if your goal is simply personal fullfillment.
4.I have a trifield meter myself, so that isn't a problem- which model of non-contact thermometer do you possess? If you'll give me the make and model, I can look it up (if I don't have one) so I can give you specific instructions.
5.Lastly, which books do you have? I have a fairly extensive library, thanks to an indulgent and generous spouse, lol...I may have the same books, which would be helpful.
If you'll answer these questions, I can give you better information and more specific instructions. Where are you located, btw? Just the city/state is fine, and I can direct you- hopefully- to some interesting places to check out.
Also, I have written a sort of training manual for new members to our group that may come in handy- it isn't device-specific, however, so it will be more of a general overview of an investigation, at least, an investigation as we perform one here. Be cognizant of the fact that there is very little right and wrong- or, more accurately, very little that we KNOW is right or wrong. Most of the info I can pass along to you deals with simply operating your equipment, and how to properly document and validate your findings. I also have created several forms for documenting investigations and performing personal interviews which may be helpful to you. Again, much of this will depend on how "serious" you want to be- if you will define your personal goals for me, I can tailor the instructions to suit your needs.

Congrats on the fine equipment- the meter, at least, is the finest money can buy! (Hubby deserves kudos!) I'm happy to help in any way I can, and I wish you the best of luck!

Sorry for the delay in responding, we've been busy with X-mas and family matters- but things have slowed considerably, so I'm as available as you'd like me to be!

Happy New Year, please have a safe one!
