I just returned from Savannah on a family vacation. We visited the Colonial Park Cemetery in the morning on 12/28/04. I took lots of photos with my digital camera Fujifilm 3800, and I took pictures with my 35mm. I've not developed the film from my 35mm yet. We were on our way out of the cemetery exiting from the far front entrance on E. Oglethorpe St. I was taking pictures of my son and daughter by this plant, and my daughter insisted that I take her picture by these two small graves next to a tree. I really didn't want to, and wanted to get on with our walking tour. But she persisted, and so I took this one picture of her. You will see several orbes??. Can someone tell me if these are orbes or sun spots? You can view the pictures at: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ashleysga/my_photos

In the first picture you will see 2 green orbes, blue, purple, red, and underneath the red you can faintly see a white orbe. The last picture is my daughter standing next to the big plant, which was about 2 to 3 feet away from the graves. I took several pictures in the grave yard and all around Savannah and didn't get any more of these orbes.

We did take a haunted carriage ride, but I didn't see anything or get anything on film.

Looks like a lens flare to me. The sun was overhead in front of you, and striking the lens at an angle that caused reflections inside the lens.

In the last picture, where the orbs don't appear, was the camera in the shade this time around? It looks like it could have been, hence no flares in that pic.

At first glance, I agreed with Kevin, and I would still have to say lens flare in regard to the orbs. However, although I don't see all the things Starlou found in the pics, the first one she has the close up of, the tombstone, I actually see two or three faces. The larger, is partially formed, a young woman or young girl, it is pretty indistinct.

Now, to the center right of the tombstone, I see a VERY distinct figure of a young woman in late 18th century/ early to mid 19th century clothing (upper torso only). The hair appears dark, parted in the center and over her ears, as was the style of the period. She appears to be looking slightly up. The image almost reminds me of a cameo.

Whether it is a random image, or something paranormal, I couldn't tell you, but it is interesting.

Hi Sabrina:

I'm from Savannah, GA and have been to the Colonial Cemetery many times. I also took a closer look at the orange and green orbs and got the same results as Starlou. I would agree that these could be possible lens flare; but, due to the history of the cemetery and what I see in these pics... I think they are paranormal in nature. For the peeps who are not familiar with it, here's a little info. Colonial Cemetery is the 2nd oldest cemetery in Savannah and was the main burial grounds for the city from 1750 for 100 years. Along with Revolutionary War soldiers, statesmen and citizens, there are 700 victims of the yellow fever plague of 1850 who are buried in a mass gravesite. I also see a face in the center of blue/purple orb. Here it is, for a larger view.

Pate'
I just love your software. I see the face. Can you get a clearer picture of what I think is a woman in a fur coat? She is in the 2nd picture with the big plant the woman is against the wall in the back ground.

WOW! Thanks everybody for your great inputs. My daughter is so excited about this. She's a Jr Girl Scout, and we were down there to visit the Juliette Low House. We can't wait to show the rest of the troop.

Kevin: To answer your question about were we in the shade the next time around. No, we were in the same area just two feet over from the graves. Where my daughter stood we were actually in the shade underneath the tree. The sun was coming through the top of the trees. I took pictures all over Savannah, and non of them have these spots in them. I've never had any problems with this camera about spots. I did take a picture earlier this month at a parade that had sun spots. I looked at them closely to see if they were similar to the orbes in the Savannah picture. They weren't. I've had this camera about 2 years. This is the 2nd time I've ever gotten spots. Usually, I sometimes have fuzzy pictures. But that's because I was not steady when taking the pictures.

SavannahSilkie: When I took those pictures that I posted we were right there at the sign that told about the Yellow Fever Plague.

Starlou: You are wonderful at finding these people. I'm going to put all my colonial park cemetery pictures to that webpage. Do you mind looking at them for me. I'm new to all of this, and don't have a trained eye like you do. I just dropped off my pictures this morning to be developed. I can't wait to see what they show! I will post them as well when I get them.

I thank everyone for your suggestions.

Sabrina:

Thanks for sharing these pics, I'll be sure to take a look at them, and I know Starlou and others will too. I'm going to take a look at the pic Starlou mentioned also. You mentioned your daughter is in Girl Scouts and visited the Gordon-Low House. I was wondering if they told you about the ghosts there during your tour. Juliette Low's mother and father have been seen there by numerous people and on many occasions. I got a pic of a really pretty orb, illuminating on it's own, in front of the Gordon-Low House one night in May 2004. I normally do not post links to pics on other people's threads, but I thought your daughter might want to see it. There is a closeup and the full pic, located here (click on the pic to zoom): Gordon-Low orb

She's welcome to save and share with her troop. I was a Girl Scout too, believe it or not. [Laughing] Ok, I'm going to get busy looking at all of the pics. Thanks again.

Hugs,
Pate

Thanks for sharing your Gordon Low Orb. I will show the girls at our next meeting. Yes, they told us about the ghosts in the Low house. They wouldn't let us take pictures inside. My Mom and I did take several pictures in the courtyard with our 35mm cameras. Maybe we got something on those. I didn't take any pictures with my digital there. My daughter was anxious to shop in the gift shop. Thanks again.

My husband just found a old man ghost in the picture of my daughter standing next to the big plant. He is in the same area where the woman is with the parted hair. He's to the left of her. Up above the plant. I'm going right now to post that picture on my webpage. Please everyone check this out.

This is so much fun!

The webpage site is temporarily unavailable, will try again later. I had a quick peek when you first posted Sabrina but didn't have a chance to look closer at them so was saving comment till I did. For now I can comment on the pics Starlow re-posted and the close up from Pate. I do see the face on the tombstone and in the orb. Not sure yet on the others as they are really small, I'll save them to zoom in for a better look.

Based on what I see so far I tend to agree these seem to be of paranormal nature. As Pate mentioned we need to also consider the area these were taken in. I feel if pics are taken in locations that paranormal activity has been experienced be it public locales or private residence a closer examination of any anomolies captured should be done. It stands to reason we are more likely to capture paranormal on film if activity has been noted or you are currently experiencing it. I'm not saying all anomolies will automaticaly be paranormal just that it's important to examine them closely in addition to ruling out potential causes before we assume either false positive or positive.

A discussion on coast to coast recently indicated more people are finding faces, animals, objects etc in their pictures that had previously gone undetected thanks to computers. Be it digital or scanned 35mm we now have opportunity to zoom right in and enhance pics which sometimes brings to view things that are not noticeable in regular view mode or on print. This prompted me to take a closer look at my digital pics including ones that are very dark night pics (no flash). I am only part way done but have been surprised already at what I found in a couple. I will post some later.

Thanks for sharing these, look forward to seeing the rest. Hugs, Cat =)

I've made another photo page of my ghosts in Colonial Park Cemetery. The picture of my son standing in front of a sign. If you look to your right at the brick catacomb in the distance, when you zoom in you can see a gathering of ghosts. One of which looks to be dressed in 1700 clothing with a ruffled shirt. I see at least 4 ghost faces in this area. Please go to:

When I took these pictures it was a full moon, so this could also be why there is so much activity going on. I took these pictures between 9:00am to 10:00am.

Hi Sabrina:

I took at close look at area which Starlou wanted me to look at and the one of your daughter by the plant. The street runs by the cemetery, there's the fence, and across the street, more trees with moss. The moss on the trees play tricks with the eyes and the cam. I did spend a long time looking at them in several different photo editing programs. There is one "possible face" in this pic. Everything else is definitely formations in the moss, with broken areas where light or limbs come through it. Here's the pic, I left it really large so yall can see, click to zoom. I labeled what may be a possible face. Closer View of Pic

The album is down right now, so I haven't been able to see the other pics you posted. I'm looking forward to seeing those. =)

Hey Starlou:

Don't hit me, but that's the moss... it's really not another face. Have to be careful looking at this moss, I've taken pics upon pics here and the more you look in there, the more you can see. The moss, along with places where the light comes though, and leaves on the trees peek through, gives an impression that something is there that could really just be a leaf or stem, or anything, poking through the moss. Trust me on this one. [Wink]
